Are the people deciding what to take away actually using the App? Have they been using it for a couple days or 10+years? Not looking good on you guys.

This is absolutely disgusting, the fact that this is not working April 2020. WOW terrible

Please fix this. As this is a shortcut that has been around "forever", you can't just change it to "H" all of a sudden. It messes up the entire workflow.

Any updates on this? I'm having the same problem.
I can't use the move or zoom shortcuts. Illustrator is useless to me without these. -

Crazy irritating when it happens, but most often caused by some other software intercepting input from the keyboard and not properly passing it through afterwards.
If you are running any form av antivirus software, look a feature labeled something like Secure Keyboard Entry and disable it. At my company we use Webroot antivirus which caused this exact issue.
Some years ago I've also had this happen with a webbrowser open in the background where some page had JavaScript running for custom keyboard commands. Haven't seen this lately though, so I assume the webbrowsers have clamped down their sandboxes a bit better now.

@John Gettler: it works, but so do the other solutions, ONLY TEMPORARILY. It's a constant recurring, very frustrating issue. It occurs weekly and even daily, for me. It's unbelievable that it has not been fixed.

I know it sounds crazy, but the way to solve this is to shutdown your Mac, unplug it for a few minutes, and then boot it back up again, and CMD+Space Bar will again bring up the zoom, and Space Bar will bring up the hand pan tool. Try it.
