Hi, everybody if you used mac, try to close the browser and use Safari and than the spacebar is work again, I hope this helps

Crazy irritating when it happens, but most often caused by some other software intercepting input from the keyboard and not properly passing it through afterwards.

If you are running any form av antivirus software, look a feature labeled something like Secure Keyboard Entry and disable it. At my company we use Webroot antivirus which caused this exact issue.

Some years ago I've also had this happen with a webbrowser open in the background where some page had JavaScript running for custom keyboard commands. Haven't seen this lately though, so I assume the webbrowsers have clamped down their sandboxes a bit better now.

Please fix. So annoying! Help!!!!!!

@John Gettler: it works, but so do the other solutions, ONLY TEMPORARILY. It's a constant recurring, very frustrating issue. It occurs weekly and even daily, for me. It's unbelievable that it has not been fixed.

I know it sounds crazy, but the way to solve this is to shutdown your Mac, unplug it for a few minutes, and then boot it back up again, and CMD+Space Bar will again bring up the zoom, and Space Bar will bring up the hand pan tool. Try it.

The shortcut for scale (spacebar + command) are gone too.

I'm having the same problem too over and over in illustrator and photoshop!! Isn't there anything we can do? :/

I had this problem a while ago, and it just stopped.. also I was having trouble when saving a pdf as "save as" the document will not open right away, instead it kept open the original pdf. This last one was an ongoing issue.... I just had my tech department completely erase McAffee and install the newest version, and I'm finally able to save as with no problem, and hopefully the space bar issue doesn't happen again.

Not sure McAffee is the real issue behind .. but it certainly worked for me..
