Align to Artboard
All version of Illustrator before CC 2018 the Align to.. command would stick to Align to Artboard unless you clicked on another object to define a Key Object.
This upgrade keeps jumping back to align selections.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.
Or get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

Align to used to stay on the selected choice (align to selected, artboard, etc). With the current release it changes every time I open a file. Sometimes its changed while working on the same document.

Still not fixed. I have version 22.1.
I want my align option to stay as 'align to key object' as i have a tonne of things I need to align this way, but each time I have to keep switching it from 'align to artboard'.

Very pleased to report that the latest update fixed a few annoying issues:
1. Align to artboard does not default back to Align to Selection
2. An embed artwork script now works when placed in an action without having to reload it each day
3. It might be me but files seem to save fasterIllustrator 2018 v22.1
Thanks to the Adobe team -
Please visit http://adobe.ly/1Q3rCPI and get the latest build for version 22.1. The link seems to be working

Good afternoon Ashutosh,
I find it does not work well.
The alignment changes back and forth between align to artboard and on selections on it's own.Thank you,
Roxanne -

In the Alignment Panel, I choose "Align to Artboard". It stays that way for an hour, or two hours, and then I find that it has reset itself to Align to Selection. In previous versions of Illustrator this was never a problem. The reason it's important for me is because I have an action that depends on this setting. If it changes itself back to Align to Selection, the action will place my objects in the wrong position. So when I set it to Align to Artboard, it needs to stay that way until I personally, manually change it to something else or it screws up my work and I may not even notice it. Sometimes the position is changed only subtly.

"Downloading separate builds for certain artists..." I'll be very hesitant to ever install a Beta again, because my settings are not restored whenever something get's messed up.

"Align to Artboard" should be globally persistent and default.

After updating to illustrator cc 2018 I have notice a bug that has been driving crazy. the "ALIGN TO:" button option switches to your current selected mode to another.
When I have "ALIGN TO ARTWORK" selected, every time I open or click on the "ARTBOARD" option, it will switch to "SELECTION" and lock. When I click done and return the option doesn't return to my correct option of "ALIGN TO ARTWORK" -

When will this be fixed in the General Release? Downloading separate builds for certain artists is going to create a nightmare of versions floating around our company.

The fix works for me. When entering "Edit artboards" menu, the icon indeed changes to "Align to selection" but it is grayed out. And after exiting "Edit artboards" menu, everything is back to normal "Align to artboard". So thank you very much indeed! :)
