Unable to export Artboards as SVG
The AI does export to SVG. I have used this constantly in the previous version, but the new version will not save the image in SVG format using the Export for Screens option.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.
Or get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

I like the subfolders, but that is not the problem. Whether the artboards are exported to the subfolders or to the original folders, the SVG image either is not exported or it lacks certain components.

I have followed your directions, but it still doesn't work. The SVG image is lacking details that are in the original and PNG, or it does not export at all. When it does export, the SVG image lacks some components that are present in the original image and that also exported correctly as the PNG image.
For instance, in one AI file, the PNG image shows correctly. The SVG file is lacking a curve, and the shading for it. What I did with the curve is to draw it, and then copy it by pressing Control + F, so that I can reduce the opacity on the area but not on the stroke. BTW, it would be nice if the opacity can be set separately for the stroke and for the fill.
Because the SVG export is not working properly, I have reverted to the previous edition. I do like some of the new features that you have, including remembering which artboards I was exporting. Another nice feature would be to export only those artboards that have artwork on them and to set the folder being used for each export for each file, so that I can export to the same folder used previously for that file, rather than the last folder that I used for the program. This would greatly increase my productivity.
I would like to point out that Microsoft has recently updated Windows 10 to the Fall Creator Update. I am sure that that is not the problem, since I'd had this problem before the update, and the previous version works correctly under the new edition of Windows 10, but I thought I would point that out to you, as it may affect other bugs that are being reported.

The above workaround is a bit ambiguous.
A relaunch did not seem to fix the problem for me with respect to the Export for Screens method. However, File --> Save As..., does work with the SVG format, including “Use Artboards”.
It remains unclear whether the relaunch changes anything.

Same issue here. If I open illustrator via double clicking a file i cannot export as svg, however if I open illustrator empty first, then open the file, the export as function works.

Double-click on the ai file, and when Illustrator starts up, only svg can not be exported.
If Illustrator is started in advance, there is no problem.
There is also a post at the Japan Forum, so please confirm.

I have the same problem, can't export SVG from last version of AI 2018. Same file export as png, but not SVG. Same file export well as SVG on AI 2017.

I am also experiencing this frustrating issue. No matter which way you try to export to svg it just won't do it. I don't even get any errors.

My issue was sorted with a system restart and resetting preferences. Also theres a new checkbox inside the export screen for creating an auto sub folder; its ticked by default. Uncheck that badboy and we're back to the good old days!

Whether using file export, or export as or any other exporting technique, when you try to save as SVG it simply creates a folder in the selected location called 'SVG' but doesn't actually save the file there. Nightmare...

I fixed this, apparently now I need to have the document saved before it will allow me to export as an svg? Not sure if this is still a bug or a new 'feature', or my computer just being weird.

Has been working fine for the last 6 months, updated yesterday and today I have been unable to export any SVG. I am not getting any error message, just no files showing up in the path.
