I downloaded the pre-release build and started using it. Seems to be working fine so far, Illustrator doesn't quit anymore when I press CTRL S. THANK YOU for fixing the problem. I knew Adobe team would come up with a solution faster than Apple could.
Thank you again for the fix.

I'm having the same problem when trying to save as pdf for print.
Which kind of sucks as my business is designing stuff for print and, well, I can't save/send anything to my client...
Not only that, all my changes aren't saved when recovered so I'm doing the same work over and over again...

I am posting again because the problem is getting worse, sometimes, even "save as" doesn't work. And sometimes, it says the file is in use so it cannot be saved, or recovered! I have to save with different names, I end up with a lot of files, even if I try to delete the "previous versions", sometimes, it won't allow me because it says the files are in use or locked! They are not even opened and I am the only one with access to the files! This is getting really really annoying and it's seriously affecting my work. I know it could be a problem with High Sierra but hoping for Apple to fix it is like winning a lottery, slim chance., they don't really care
I am sure your technical team is much better than Apple's so please do something about it.

Come on Adobe! Sort this out. It's clearly an issue and I'm fed up of being told it's not to do with you.

Adobe are not acknowledging this as a bug. I have been on remote access with them for over an hour. So what's the answer then? Is everyone working off a server?

I have been on support chat with Adobe for over an hour about this issue. They just tell me that it is a server issue with High Sierra and that they don't recommend working on files that are not saved locally.

Same problem, very annoying! I have a million files, because I have to 'save as' every single time - don't want to lose anything. Look forward to a solution.

Have the same problem when trying the feature "Export To Screens" it kept crashing on MacOs High Sierra. Instead, I use "Export As" and seems that works fine.

I am also having this problem. Dozens of times a day as we are in Illustrator from 8 - 6 ("9-5") here. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now not only does it not allow me to save files as I am working on them, crashing regularly on save or save as, it is also dropping all my preferences including shortcuts, panels arrangements, appearance and file handling. I also cannot move objects if they are on the general pasteboard - I have to put them on an artboard, move the artboard to the desired location on the pasteboard and then move the items around on the artboard until the desired layout is reached.

You can try Option+Command+Shift which should delete prefs; it may or may not help. It didn't help for me but try it anyways.
Backup your plugins if you have any.
Using the Creative Cloud App, uninstall Illustrator.
When prompted to delete preferences, choose to delete them.
Once Illustrator is deleted, re-install it.When you start Illustrator for the first time press Option+Command+Shift. There's no reason to because preferences should have been deleted: I do the keypress because it's voodoo and makes me feel better too.
Illustrator opened fine, I created a complex file and saved it. It took a while but it did; no crashes or freezes.
I quit illustrator and created a simpler file (again voodoo) and saved it. No problems. SO FAR.
I hope this helps.
If it doesn't help, Ashutosh or another engineer can take a look into your machine. I'm not sure if that's a literal look or a figurative, if it's on-site or you have to mail the machine to Adobe...
[I wasted a lot of my time, my clients time and I was pretty upset... I'm allowed a joke at the end of the day, aren't I?]
