Copy and paste doesn't always work
I've been experiencing problems with Illustrator. When I copy an object with the ctrl + c button and try to paste them it randomly doesn't work.
The problem is that I can't replicate it on command. At first I thought it had something to do with the laptop that I used, but it also happens on a freshly installed desktop.
My version of Illustrator is 22.0.1
I also checked the copy paste functions under the edit tab, and when I copied something it didn't show the ability to paste it. It could also only have something to do with copying files.

V, I have experienced this myself many times.
How long did Ai run before you noticed this behaviour? It took me several hours last time.
I copy the text (both with a hotkey and through the menu), check the Edit menu again and sees that all paste commands are grayed out. I struggled for one more hour, trying to finish the task before relaunching (and truing to understand, what can lead to it) and then restarted it, which made the bug vanish — for a while, I believe.
Does it work the same for you?
Thanks for the report, it’s not just me then. -

Upon opening Illustrator, copy/paste feature will work once, then will not work again. Have tried various troubleshooting methods and adjusting settings others have had with similar issues to no avail. This is costing me money. I'm under deadlines.

Hi,
so I figured out what the problem was. Working in Teamviewer made Illustrator go crazy, not sure why but when I changed to AnyDesk Illustrator was working fine. Not sure what setting TeamViewer has that's making Illustrator act this way.

@Egor Chistyakov
No. It doesn't even paste just the vectors in place. I'm not sure if this is a problem occurring because I'm working through a third party (Teamviewer) or if this is a system's problem.

Does it happen when you change the font? After Ai is relaunched?

I'm having an issue of pasting items not just within the same doc but also in other docs.
I wanted to past a vector with writing in it onto another artboard, but only the text copies over and it doesn't keep the font settings, it goes to default settings. It also doesn't paste in place as requested it pastes off the artboard in a random place.
What I wanted was to paste in place on another artboard or another doc, retaining all the information of the copied item. It worked perfectly before but I'm not sure why it's changed.

Sometimes some objects cannot be copied and then pasted and sometimes they can but it changes the objects. It's really annoying.

I have the same issue. It will not copy paste text or objects even with in Illustrator. It randomly stops working and randomly starts working. A reboot is not the answer either (program or system). This is crazy! I use the copy paste function in my job all the time exp. for text from other people. I really expect more from Adobe.

I also believe that it is a generic issue, we started noticing it at my studio around the beginning of 2018, after updating Illustrator to the latest version at that time.
Our whole studio of 5 workstations (Windows 10 64bit & Adobe CC 2019 updated to the latest stable versions, Intel i7 & AMD Threadripper processors, 32 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GTX graphics cards) is experiencing these issues very often. Back in January 2018 we were using Windows 8.1 64bit - the problem was also there.
There is no particular way to reproduce the problem - every once in a while, pressing Ctrl+C does not move the copied object to the clipboard, "Paste" in "Edit" menu is greyed out, as Rod Sawatsky explained in March 2018.
Please fix it, this is extremely frustrating and it has been like this for MORE THAN A YEAR AND A HALF. No other software behaves this way, we are sure this is solely an Illustrator issue.

It's believed that this could relate with clipboard managers. Do you have any installed?

IT IS a generic issue. I'm using win10 and CS5.1 and the overall success rate of copy&paste is below 10%.
