Random crashing - 24.0.3
I have a brand new 16" MacBook Pro.
OS: Catalina 10.15.2. 32Gb Ram. 2.4 Gz Processor.
Illustrator 2020 v24.0.3
The app is constantly, randomly crashing. When waking up machine (10 min auto sleep) there is a message waiting that Illustrator has unexpectedly quit. ,And, now it seems hung up on launch.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Ran app diagnostics as recommended on restart. No info was provided.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled.
- Disabled lots of 3rd party extensions
- Restarted machine
- I have 90 crash reports.

This issue is fixed in Illustrator 25.0 and above.

Turning off the GPU changes nothing to my problem. It keeps crashing randomly.

I found a solution that works for me.
new 16" MacBook Pro.
Catalina 10.15.3, 2.4 GHz 8-Core i9, 32GB memory. AMD Radeon Pro 8GBThe problem seems to come from Illustrator getting confused about what GPU to use (either the integrated Intel GPU or the Radeon GPU). Mac does automatic switching between the two based on various conditions, including when the computer is woken up from sleep, plugged into an external monitor, etc.
Illustrator doesn't handle this switch correctly and crashes.
Fortunately, the solution was pretty easy for me:
1) Open System Preferences --> Energy Saver.
2) Turn off "Automatic graphics switching".
3) Turn "Automatic graphics switching" back on.That's it. I don't know why, but this forces Mac to reset some internal mechanism and Illustrator no longer gets confused.

No stability at all. Crashes all the time regardless of what I try and do to resolve the issue.

Me too. And I am not turning off GPU, runs terrible without it (and does not fix the issue)

Version 24.0.3 is AWFUL!!! I have never been so frustrated!
- Every file I save is no longer able to open due to error. The same file can be open on my coworkers computer without issue.
- Slow saving or updating the file.
- Crashing constantly.
- I would have to restart Mac laptop in order to keep working.I had to uninstall and reinstall an older version. No issues so far!

Also having this issue with the program crashing after waking up the machine. I'm also running on a new 16" Macbook Pro with Catalina 10.15.3. I get several crashes per day and sometimes have issues restarting the application afterwards. Extremely disappointed with the instability of this release.

Yes this latest release is somehow even worse than the previous ones. I get 3 or 4 random crashes to the desktop every day at the moment with 24.0.3.
What an absolute joke of a company, abusing their monopoly position to release junk that never works properly and runs way slower than it should on a modern multi-core machine.
