Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Bad parameter.
Having this issue after the 27.3.1 update. Found that it cause by the mask inside the transparency. The error prompt out when we try to save the file.
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.4.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

I am experiencing the same problem as Rachel KLK. I am unable to save an Adobe Illustrator file in the .ai format. This file was sent to me by a client and needs to be adjusted for printing, so I cannot remove layers. I also need to save it in both .ai and .pdf formats................

Hello, I had the same message and I identified the reason:
Since "illustrator 2023" there are some problems / bugs with the opacity filter (see image below) => Try this: Create a simple shape (circle filled with black) and create an opacity shape in the center of the circle (I use adobe on a PC).
Then copy and paste the front (Ctrl + F) and try to save as a PDF => If you have illustrator 2023, the message "Bad parameter" will appear.
Then just drag the top shape to avoid that the 2 shapes overlap and try again to save in PDF format = it will work.
The message "Bad parameter" will also appear if you save in illustrator .ai if you keep "save and keep the PDF compatibility" = Cancel the chek to save in illustrator.
The solution is to reinstall the version 2022 of illustrator (Adobe assistance (!)) :(.
Note that this opacity compatibility creates the same problem with indesign in the last update version (18.1) : It is impossible to export to PDF if your document has vector illustrations that contain a shape with an "opacity filter". -

In an attempt to help Adobe tech solve this issue I am including a file that gives this PDF error. The file came from a client so I don't know exactly what version of illustrator it was created in, but I am positive it wasn't the latest. Interestingly, and quite odd, is the fact that the mask on each element is located off the page and does not interact at all with the element. (Don't ask me why.) If I move the mask towards the artwork so there is actually a masking effect, the file is now able to save as PDF. Also, if any one of the two elements is hidden, the PDF file can save. Show both elements, and the PDF is NOT able to save. Feel free to examine the file as i have simplified and removed any elements of copyright.

I have the same problem, Adobe illustrator is suddenly giving me this message on files: "No se puede guardar el documento. Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Bad parameter."
Couldn't find a solution, I contacted an Adobe Support Expert Agent y he told me after many tries "Don't know what happen, just delete the file"
This is driving me crazy! It's not possible!

Same problem, not able to save a .ai file (as a .ai file). Extremely upsetting!
If I delete the layer where I have a lot of transparency masks, the error goes away. The file was created in previous versions; all worked fine before the latest update.

What settings do you use to produce a PDF? What happens if you try other parameters?
