Keyboard shortcuts for text formatting (kerning, tracking, leading, font size) no longer work in Illustrator 29.7.1
This feature just stopped working. Please fix.
These also don't work:
Increase or decrease leading: Option + Up or Down Arrow (horizontal text) or Right or Left Arrow (vertical text)
Increase or decrease kerning and tracking: Option + Right or Left Arrow (horizontal text) or Up or Down Arrow (vertical text)

As noted in the core report, the fix available in Prerelease build now, starting with 29.8. Preferences should no longer change some specific values when the Search field has anything in it. The next general build should have this fix included.

I agree with Egor, it can be easily reproduced by goin to preferences, hit a letter, hit OK to close the preferences. The units turn to pt, the Type settings become minimal.

Thanks @Egor Chistyakov. However, I never used the search feature with the preferences window nor put any values in the search field. The settings of 0.1 and 0 were just there upon Illustrator startup.

There is a core problem that results in these changed values:

The team is now aware of it. -

My team and I have the same problem, we have adjusted some settings in Preferences > Type as per Egor's comment. However this didn't seem to solve the issue of leading not working.
The real question is why are these settings changing upon update anyway after years of remaining the same?
This version of Illustrator has also created several other issues that could probably be it's own thread. Very frustrating.

@Ton. Thank you!

My defaults are:
Size/Leading: 2 pt
Tracking: 20/1000 em
Baseline Shift: 2 pt
I did not check them when I had the problem, this is after resetting Preferences. I'll check when the problem returns. -

Yes, in fact. I never mess with this. Ever. Why would it change? What are the default settings?

@mikey_likes_it, can you check Preferences > Type: Size/Leading, Tracking, Baseline Shift? What are these values? Are they something like 0.1 and 0?
