  1. The file "Untitled" is an unknown format and cannot be opened

    I was working on a file that I opened from Photoshop CC 2018 and after I saved it. I wanted to open it again and I got this message:
    "The file "Untitled" is an unknown format and cannot be opened"

    I tried opening it again from photoshop and saved it as an ai. file. I went to open it again and I get the same error message: The file "Untitled" is an unknown format and cannot be opened

    Thank you! (please help! I am losing my mind! :) )

  2. Sizes and coordinates get distorted in SVG export

    Adobe Illustrator CC on Mac OS
    I composed a graphic in Illustrator to use as a SVG Sprite in CSS. To make sure all my sprites render sharply I aligned my vectors to full pixel coordinates and sizes. Unfortunately those same coordinates end up on some slightly odd positions in the source of the exported SVG.
    I used the "Export as..." function with Decimals set to 2.

  3. Preview on "save for web"

    Illustrator CC 2018
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
    macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

    My preview on "save for web" on 100% is not the same size of my illustrator preview ! Both are 600x250px

    The preview "save for web" is smaller than reality

  4. Invalid Export Location

    When I "Export Selection" on an artboard, the "Export for Screens" window comes up. I select the asset, and choose the export location. No matter what location I choose I get an error upon export - "Invalid Export Location".

  5. PDF size is extremely large

    Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 version

    When I save a file as PDF or even the original Ai. format the file becomes extremely large. This started to occurred after the latest update. The file contains 2 small artboards with a little bit of text (not much) and a few small icons, its 43 MB! it should be 10 MB or less.

    The same happens when saving as PDF with (Illustrator default settings) File is TOO big, even if I change the settings of the PDF, it might drop to 15 MB.

  6. Can´t save an open document!!

    When I try to save an open document, AI say´s it can´t save as the file is open.

    Well, obviously it is open, as I am working on it!

    I have to rename the file. Then when I try to save the new file, same thing happens and I have to keep renaming files if I want to save my work.

    Surely this is a bug.

    Is this happening to anyone else??!

  7. Can´t save an open document

    Illustrator CC v 21.1.0 (64bit)

    When I am working a current, open document and I click Save in the File menu, Illustrator say´s it can´t save because the file is open. Well, obviously it is open, because I am working on it!

    I have to Save As... and rename the file, (I usually add the date and time).

    This is obvioulsy just a a little bug in the new update. Let me know if I can help.

    I attach the message I get.

    Actually... Now Illustrator has frozen! So I can´t attach the message.

  9. Illustrator 2018 quits when I save. "Save as" works, but not save. It also creates a temp pdf file.

  10. Illustrator CC 2018 (Mac) Crashes Affects ALL CC Programs

    illustrator CC2018 crashes about every third or fourth time I "Save AS" an EPS. Freezes immediately AND freezes any open CC programs. Have to Force Quit all to restart each. This is getting old, fast.

  11. JPG export to RGB keeps coming up with an error

    In CC 2017 when I try and export a file to a RBG JPG file an error keeps coming up saying that the file cannot be written due to an error.

    This has been happening for a while now.

  12. Export Text of Keyboard Shortcuts Crashes Illustrator

    After hitting the Export Text... button in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue, Illustrator always crashes. Additionally it exports an empty text file.

  13. Placing images file then locking layers

    21.1.0 64bit

    Bug Report

    I can always replicate this. Here's how.

    1. create a new document

    2. go to file-place and select multiple image files

    3. before clicking to place images, create new layer and lock all other layers

    4. Click anywhere and it will place your image on a locked layer in the corner of the art board instead of on your new layer in the location of your click.

  14. Illustrator shows paths with extremely many points incorrect, without showing a warning to user

    Sometimes EPS files I want to open in Illustrator contain paths with many many points. When opening in Illustrator no warning is shown, but polygons are not shown correctly as the fill color is disappeared (and the polygon path seems to be broken/not closed anymore). Is the limit 32.000 points? If so: please enlarge this amount OR show a warning when opening a file: now users cannot trust your Illustrator here.

  15. Exporting SVG 1.2 Tiny gives a metadata / namespaces error

    I use Illustrator CC 2017 21.1.0.
    When exporting an Illustrator document to SVG 1.2 tiny and open in Dreamweaver CC2017 or another editor I receive an error on the Illustrator metadata / namespaces like:

  16. Transparency Lost in After Effects When Importing v30 AI Files

    Transparency Information Lost When Importing Illustrator v30 AI Files into After Effects 2026

    Environment:
    - Hardware: MacBook Pro 16-inch (November 2023), Apple M3 Pro, 36GB RAM
    - OS: macOS Sequoia 15.7.4
    - Illustrator version with issue: v30.2.1 (2026)
    - Illustrator version without issue: v28.7.10 (2024)
    - After Effects version: 2026

    When an .ai file saved in Illustrator 2026 (v30) is imported as footage into After Effects 2026, transparency information — including blend modes, opacity settings, and effects such as drop shadows — is lost or ignored. Affected layers render as fully opaque.

    Re-saving the identical artwork in Illustrator 2024 (v28.7.10)…

  17. PDF/X-4 Export Produces Non-Compliant PDFs in Illustrator v30.2.1

    In v28, when exporting PDF/X-4 via an Action or script, inserting a "Convert to Working CMYK" step into the workflow allowed consistent production of PDF/X-4 compliant files with no preflight errors.

    In v30, following the exact same workflow with identical files and the same preset now produces non-compliant PDFs. Acrobat preflight reports two distinct errors that did not occur in v28.

    Preflight Error #1 — Placed image ICC profile conflict:
    "CMYK source profile is the same as the PDF/X output intent destination profile (201 occurrences, 2 pages)"

    Cause: Placed PSD files have Japan Color 2001 Coated embedded as an ICC…

  18. Vorschaubilder verschwinden im Bridge

    Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem mit Illustrator (30.2.1) und Bridge (16.02.23) auf einem Windows Rechner mit 64GB Ram, Windows 11 Pro und eine RTX 3060 Ti.

    Wenn ich momentan im Illustrator eine Datei speichere zweig mir Bridge diese Datei nicht mehr korrekt an.

    Beispiel:
    - Normal war die Anzeige in Bridge wie Bild01.jpg
    - die geöffnete Datei im Illustrator wo alles stimmt ist wie Bild02.jpg, alle Verknüpfungen sind intakt
    - ändere ich in der Datei nur das Darum und speichere, ist nun die Anzeige im Bridge wie im Bild03.jpg daher zusammen wie Bild04.jpg

    Öffne ich die Datei im Illustrator ist…

  19. UI freezes when clicking Save file with multiple artworks, no recovery files, version 30.0 on Tahoe 26.1

    This new 30.0 update is terrible, my team has lost countless hours!
    As soon as you click save, the UI freezes, and doesn't allow you to save.
    After clicking the task manager in order to restart the app, the file doesn't show up in the recovered files. NOTHING!
    It is the worse version of Illustrator EVER. I was contemplating going back to the LTS version, but we have already done too much work in this newer version, and are certain that when we open those files, in the OLDER (But better) version, there will be issues, we saw it already…
