1. Add trackpad / touchpad support for Windows / Surface devices (zoom, diagonal scroll, etc.)

   Windows Surface Book trackpads have little to no gesture support. It's incredibly annoying. Please add pinch to zoom, two finger scrolling, etc.. The same functionality you would expect on a macbook would be great.

   Most of the Features in Illustrator have inconsistent number of decimal places.
   New document size — 3 decimal places, 0.001
   Artboard size — 2 decimal places, 0.01
   Artboard position x,y (in the same window) — 1 decimal place, 0.1
   creating new rectangle — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
   Object transformation — 3 decimal places, 0.001
   Rectangle angle — 2 decimal places, 0.01
   Rounding corners — 3 decimal places, 0.001
   Split into grid — 2 decimal places, 0.01

   Offset path — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
   3d revolve angle — 0 decimal places
   3d Extrude & Bevel angles — 2 decimal places, 0.01

   Let's look at the example user journey:

   In my workflow I am building an illustration of isometric sport games layouts.
   As Illustrator has an working area size limitation i am forced to keep the illustration in certain scale. and for smaller objects I have to create bigger versions of 3D elements, then through symbols/CC library scale them down. Otherwise the limitation in number of decimal places of the 3D effects doesn't allow me to keep the proper object shapes.

   The number of decimal places in Transform tool is 3 (minimum 0.001)

   The extrude Depth field has a soft cap for 2 decimal places and minimum value of 0.01 pt

   The Bevel Height for some unclear reason is limited to zero decimal places — 1 pt

   Both have to be 3 decimal places a minimum value of at least 0.01 pt

3. Make blend profiles (acceleration) and better blend controls

   Blend tool in AI is weak.
   Please add acceleration for both attributes and positions for blended objects, as other competitors do.
   Remove positioning by Bezier tension, people hardly use it (watch forums), — make separate curve control for it (or at least sliders!)

4. Add Shear and Taper to Transform Effect (or add as Warp effect)

   Shearing and tapering are ones of few operations that can't be automated procedurally.
   Using 'Free distort' is very inconvenient, because it works in small dialogue window that doesn't show actual artwork (it doesn't even have Preview tick! — I'll add another feature request about it). Although 'Stylism' plugin from AstuteGraphics solves problem with control, revision is definitely required.
   Shear tool and Free distort tool are fine, but they are live tools, and won't help to repeat same the effect later if needed.
   Please, add shearing and tapering either as part of Transform effect or new Warp (both as effect and envelope preset).

5. An option to enable and use geometric centers for equilateral shapes (polygons)

   Please enable the option to use the geometrically correct centerpoint as the intersection of the edge-normals for odd-edged polygons instead of using the "half the height, half the width"-centerpoint, or at least enable it as an option. Drawing the circumference-circle really is annoying.

7. Easily move large number of swatches into a CC Library

   Companies offer free downloads of their color libraries, typically over 1000 individual color swatches. Currently, each swatch has to be moved one-by-one into a library. It's extremely time consuming and tedious. I have talked to numerous customer service agents and there is no satisfactory work around.

   Create an easy way to transfer numerous color swatches at once into a library (which allows for use of the search bar feature). Using CCD > your work > upload does not work either.

8. Password protect in layers

   I am looking for an option in the Adobe Illustrator to have the layers locked with a password. so i can send the source file to the other users only to modify what they have to and not touch my content.

9. Open an InDesign file in Illustrator

   Need to be able to open an Indesign file directly in AI. No reason to go to pdf and totally destroy the artwork. files are uneditable converting from Id to PDF to AI.

10. Add ability to rebind artboard names to their numbers

    In my work I add and delete artboards during work.
    When artboard is created, it's given a name, corresponding it's number.
    When custom artboard is deleted, numbers of next artboards are shifted (it's OK), but names stay the same.

    So when job is done, I can have something like this:
    1. Artboard 6
    2. Artboard 8
    3. Artboard 9
    4. Artboard 10
    5. Artboard 12
    and so forth

    Since the last number is almost as noticeable as first one, it's hard to pick up correct ones for export.
    I have a script written to fix this, which renames artboards to correspond their numbers, but it causes problem:
    When these artboards are exported, they automatically get their number at the end of file names, like this:
    [filename]-23.tif
    But if a script renames them, AI starts thinking about them as custom names, and files looks like this:
    [filename]-Artboard 22.tif

    And since I have other batch routines to work with specific filenames, I could have used a command that rebinds names to numbers without messing up export filename.

11. Chromebook / ChromeOS compatibility

    My school is considering purchasing a laser cutter/engraver to be housed in the Library for all students to use, and I understand that we will also need to purchase software such as Adobe Illustrator. The problem is that many of our students use Chromebooks, which really don't have a hard drive. We're not in favor of just having 1 or 2 Windows machines sitting by the cutter/engraver, mostly because that limits usage. Is there any other option? Does Adobe offer a Chromebook-compatible software? Or, is there any way that a student could design something in another program, then import it into Adobe Illustrator to send it to the cutter/engraver?
    Or is it possible to use Adobe Illustrator on a Chromebook?

    If there's no other option, is Chromebook compatibility coming soon?

12. Non-breaking space (NBSP) should work

    AI ignores NBSP when it's places as symbol. 'No break' option is an option but ridiculously hard to be applied quickly. Anyway NBSP should work

    Illustrator Beta 29.2.10 now supports Nonbreaking space (U+00A0).

    It can also be added with Type > Insert WhiteSpace Character > Nonbreaking Space command.

    Please try this build and see if it works for you as expected.

13. Make a hotkey to go one level up in Isolation mode

    It quite frequently needed to go one level up when burrowed in isolation mode.
    The only way to do it now — is button, unscriptable, unhotkeyable, mouse only.
    Make a hotkey for it, please.

14. Quick Look support for .ai files in MacOS

    Selecting a file in the MacOS Finder and then pressing spacebar to preview the file is one of the great features of the OS. It works with image files of many types as well as PDF files, etc. But not .ai files. Please build a Quick Look extension to add this support. Thanks.

    現在のIllustratorデスクトップ版で「選択範囲に整列」を設定し、複数のオブジェクトを対象に「垂直方向中央に整列」または「水平方向中央に整列」を実行すると、それぞれのオブジェクトの中央の座標を平均した位置で揃います。

    一方で、Illustrator iPad版で同じ操作を行うと異なる結果になります。iPad版の「中央に整列」では、座標の平均ではなく、選択範囲（バウンディングボックス）の中央でオブジェクトが揃うしくみです。
    自分が確認した限りではPhotoshopやInDesignもこちらの仕様です。

    • 「選択範囲に整列」というオプションの名称からも、座標の平均で揃うことは推測しにくい
    • iPad版のように、選択範囲の中央に揃うほうが直感的でイメージしやすい
    • デスクトップ版とiPad版の同じ機能がそれぞれ違う動きをするのは避けるべき
    • 選択範囲の中央に揃う仕様はその他のAdobe製品でも採用されている

    上記の理由から、Illustratorデスクトップ版でも「中央に整列」では選択範囲の中央に揃える仕様に変更してほしいです。

    In Illustrator on desktop, select multiple objects, and in the "Align to Selection" setting, execute "Vertical ( or Horizontal ) Align Center".

    The objects will then be aligned at the average of their respective center coordinates.

    However, the same operation in Illustrator on iPad produces a different result. The iPad's "Align Center" aligns the object at the center of the selection (bounding box), rather than at the average of the coordinates.
    As far as I have confirmed, Photoshop and InDesign also have this specification.

    • It is difficult to infer from the name of the "Align to Selection" option that it will be aligned with the average of the coordinates.
    • It is more intuitive and easier to imagine the result if it is aligned to the center of the selection, as in the iPad version.
    • It is not good to have the same functionality on desktop and on iPad, but with different results on each.
    • Alignment to the center of the selection is also used in other Adobe products.

    For the above reasons, I would like the Illustrator desktop version to change the specification to align to the center of the selection.

16. Background Blur and Progressive Blur in Appearance

    I'd like to see a blur option where objects behind an object appear blurred such as in the attachment. This is something that, I believe, can be achieved in CSS so it would be good to have the ability to use such an effect in Illustrator.

17. Illustrator window should stay maximized when opening existing documents form Explorer

    What we want is simple, make it so that opening an Ai file from File Explorer does not change if Ai is in windowed mode, or fullscreen mode.

    This has been an issue for years that disrupts the workflow of users on a regular basis. Here is an old forum thread going back as far as June 2012 further detailing this ongoing issue: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1026020

    When opening an Ai file from File Explorer, Illustrator automatically Restores down to a window from Maximized mode. While the work-around, (of extending edges of Illustrator's window from edge-to-edge of the desired monitor), minimizes the impact of being reduced to windowed mode, many other users, including myself, still find ourselves re-Maximizing the window to fullscreen.

    Adobe, via Creative Cloud, recently launched the first round of 2019 Edition updates, and it would be greatly appreciated if this pesky and disruptive issue would be resolved at last.

18. Can we rename multiple layers in one go?

    For example, we select 10 different layers, we right click and select "rename layer(s)" and then a prompt comes up where we type the name we want to assign to all the selected layers.

19. Make Mesh Envelope Distort work with linked images

    Since Free distort doesn't support images at all, both linked or embedded.
    I have to use envelope distortion each time I need to distort an image within AI.
    But I have to break link with image for this, because Envelope works only with embedded images sadly.

20. More toggle buttons in top row / panel full of indicators

    You know, AI has a lot of options that can be turned on and off.
    And some of them switched on and off quite often: Snap to Grid, to Point, to Glyph, to Pixel... Guides, Smart Guides, Edges (can be both locked and / or hidden), Artboard Edges, Corner Widgets, Bounding Box...

    Of course, all of them can be accessed via View menu, but you just don't see them there! Users need no only SWITCH them, but KNOW what current state is.

    What about Use Preview Bounds? Hidden in Preferences.
    What about, Transform Pattern Tiles?
    Scale Strokes and Effects and Scale Strokes are duplicated in Transform, but that’s it.

    So we need indicator switches.
    And ideally we should choose ourselves which buttons we want to put there.

    You've started understanding it, when added these to Properties panel.
    But you take them away from those who don't use this panel.

    And yet you have a perfect place for these switches, in fact you already sort of using this place! It's right next to the rocket GPU icon.
    Put grid-snaps-widgets-indicators there, so we can always know what our current useful limitations are.

    Sure, this would make it seem like it’s an app level thing... at the same time we have Control panel and it’s above documents’ tabs anyway.
    Yes, you can make it a separate horizontal panel, but it will eat up the vertical space... you can put it in Control, but it’s full and we can’t make one sections of it to take priority over others.

    Still we need it!

    You know, AI has a lot of options that can be turned on and off.
    And some of them switched on and off quite often: Snap to Grid, to Point, to Glyph, to Pixel... Guides, Smart Guides, Edges (can be both locked and / or hidden), Artboard Edges, Corner Widgets, Bounding Box...

    Of course, all of them can be accessed via View menu, but you just don't see them there! Users need no only SWITCH them, but KNOW what current state is.
