HDTV and other Film & Video Presets
Please make presets without all the green stuff (see screenshot), and with a black background, since RGB is additive color mixing, which starts on black rather than on white. See how your After Effects fellows deal with video :-)
I personally never need rulers and a center mark, since we exactly know where objects are, and where the center is by using Smart Guides and Transform.
(But I am curious who likes all the green clutter you have to clear when starting a document based on these presets.)

Make title bar of inactive window look different from an active one
On Windows there is no way to tell Illustrator window in focus from inactive one, even when a corresponding option in OS preferences is on.
And every time Ai is not in focus you can’t use hotkeys.
Please make at least something dynamic to tell if the window is in focus! Like it was before. Icon changing color at least.19 votes -

3D Gizmo needs redesign: rotation feedback and axis color coding
Gizmo needs to have a re-think. Just open any actual 3D app built in the last 20 years for tips. It gives no feedback. I rotate something, and it looks the same. it should orient itself to the object I'm rotating. Color coding each axis would help too.

Provide SVG output scaling option (with 96 ppi default)
When using Save As... SVG, Illustrator sets the bounding box pixel dimensions in the SVG header using 72 pixels per inch. So a 10" x 10" artboard will produce an SVG file with its pixel dimensions set to 720px x 720px. This is a very old-fashioned default scaling, since every other modern application I have encountered displays imported SVGs using 96 dpi . This means each SVG produced by Illustrator appears to shrink when imported into almost any other modern application. Please either:
a) Change Illustrator's default scaling calculation to use 96 dpi.

Have a "lock" option for the gradient annotator, to transform objects without affecting gradients
The gradient annotator adjusts itself when you also adjust the object bigger. I would like for there to be an option where I can have the gradient annotator lock in place while I stretch an object bigger. When I am working on a file that has a gradient to the edge of the artboard but has no bleed, this instance is where this option would be super helpful.

Crop Image to Artboard Option
When creating multiple graphics with high-quality images, it would be great if there was an option to select when cropping an image that automatically cropped the image to the size of the artboard.

Contextual Eyedropper Tool
Currently, the Eyedropper Tool is an underutilized and often counter-intuitive tool that needlessly increases the complexity of a workflow because of its limitations. This- combined with Illustrator's poor color tools- often adds unnecessary time and effort to what should and could be more simplified tasks.
For example, a common situation is that I have a shape with a fill color that I like, and I want another shape that has a stroke to also use that color, except only for the stroke. Currently, if I use the eyedropper tool on the filled shape, it will completely remove the stroke…
5 votesThe solution to that would be to activate a stroke if you want to apply a color to it, then to hold Shift when clicking a color — does not matter where this color is on a stroke or a fill. Illustrator then applies the picked color to the active fill/stroke, ignoring the source nature. There are two things to know — the cursor does not inform you about this mode (unlike the Alt-mode, should be addressed), and if you pick a color from a swatch — you’d get a screen representation of the color... harmless for RGB documents (if your color settings are in order), but crucial for CMYK documents (should be addressed too). Pleas comment back. -
Export for Screens - Please add EMF as an option
I have hundreds of EPS icon files I need to convert for use in PowerPoint which means they need to be in EMF, EMZ or WMF format. The Asset Export tool is amazing and would be perfect for this task, but unfortunately EMF is not an export option. Thanks!

Larger Stroke/Fill selector in Swatch panel
It is extremely difficult to choose the between the Fill and Stroke selector in the Swatch panel., especially on Retina displays. Please give us the option to make it larger, as seen in my attachment.

Freeform gradient doesn't work with Recolor Artwork
There is no way to recolor the gradient points in the Freeform Gradient in Color Guide → Recolor Artwork. This is very problematic when you try to apply a color group to the gradient. It works very well with regular gradients, but not with freeform gradients. I think this needs an update or else it will be very time consuming to edit all the colors of a freeform gradient.

Add pattern filled object to swatch box to create a new pattern
This is very essential for the fashion industry.
As of now, it's not possible to create a seamless pattern with a pattern filled object and add it as a swatch.
We either have to expand the filled object or rasterize the pattern filled object to able to add to the swatch box. It's hindering because we can't recolor easily.

Please add automated color bar, separation color information - Print PDF output
Hi! I am missing a choice in PDF save or export. In the print industry is needed to add colour information for the customer, what colours is the artwork made from - esp. when we use solid colours. Customers need this for the approval process so we have to add this colour-bar manually. In the PDF (composite PDF) window there are Marks and Bleed choices, but there is missing a choice to choose a colour information automatically generated from the document colours - separations. Export for Screens: Option to include file- and artboard-name automatically.
Ok the "Export for Screen" option is kind of nice, however it takes far too long to set everything up....
- The areas to type in are far too small.
- Automation is week a. where can define that all images will get the file name of the original *.AI file. b. why does it keep the old folder location? Add an option for Pathfinder to make compound paths instead of groups
If you draw a row of rectangles (with gaps) and hit Unite button in Pathfinder — Ai will create a group.
But if you hold Alt, then hit Unite, and then hit Expand in this panel — Ai will make create a compound path!
I almost always want a compound path.
And I hate this workaround, since it requires twice as much operations (yeah, 2 instead of 1!). Another workaround is an action to ungroup and make a compound path — which is still a 2 steps operation!The alternative is to have a panel full of actions for each…

Full Alignment Center Option (both horizontally and vertically)
Instead of having two tools (Horizontal and Vertical Align Center), can we get a tool that does both in one called something like Fully Align Center. I've included an image of what the tool might look like.

Be able to create a finished vector repeat tile from Pattern Editing Mode.
Currently, the only way for a designer to get a final tile from a repeat pattern created in pattern mode is a clunky workaround involving dragging the fill swatch art from the swatches panel to the artboard and then working with the bounding shape to create a cropped, repeatable tile for export. We need a button to click inside pattern mode that creates a tile from the artwork inside pattern mode that is perfectly cropped (could be a clipping mask) but will retain all the live content that typically gets expanded when you exit pattern mode. Gradient Tool Needs Custom Angle Increment Option
There should be an option to define the angle increment that you want Shift to lock to when creating or modifying a gradient. Such as 15 degree increments (0º, 15º, 30º...). Come on Adobe!
