2. Make ability to make warnings show in background and not in dialogue windows

   Right now we can click OK/Enter every time interrupting warning dialogue pops up, or tick 'Never show again'.
   I would prefer background message, same as 'Shape expanded' now appears.
   For example, I use Ctrl+J combination to connect all my segments in one closed path. I can have two or more segments, and just press this combination several times to achieve my goal, rather then count how many times I should press it. But when path is finally closed, AI throws a warning at me. Usually my hands press keys one more time after that and AI beeps-blinks, which is awful — I expect this window to know my operation is done, but this is too much — this is no error, this is just awaited inapplicable operation. If AI would just pop up small gray badge 'Path is already closed' (AI knows exactly what I've selected), it would work so much better for me.

3. USE of .CXF FILES within adobe cc

   As >cxf files will soon be the future of colour communication why do x-rite and adobe not integrate .cxf files with each other. The idea of a .cxf file is to help stabilise colour across various substrates, regardless of background hue, it allows the use of a spectrophotometer to read the colour and match it against a dE tolerance to make sure the colour is within specified range.
   Hence pantone live was born as every pantone book differs in colour, however a .cxf file never changes.

   So pantone want you to use pantone live, which is fine until the colour you want is not in a pantone book, from a print perspective thats ok with me. We simply measure the colour generate a .cxf file and do a drawdown on the substrate and get it within tolerance.

   But the problem arises when the designer is given the .cxf file, which he cant use because its not compatible, he then has to alloocate a spot colour from pantone and instruct the printer doing the job to replace the pantone colour with the .cxf file which leaves the whole loop very vulnerable.

   Now adobe get your act together after all you are supposed to be the market leaders in graphic art.

   And x-rite stop ******* about and allow a .cxf file to be re saves as a .ase file so we can all start talking to each other !!!!!!

4. Cmd + H should hide Illustrator on Mac

   Yes, CMD-H should be standardized across all of your programs. And kindly take Freehand out of its vault, study its pen/curve tool(s), and make Illustrator's pen tool work as well as Freehand's did.

8. Change line color and fill color of groups in one click

   Let say you have multiple groups existing of line segments and filled objects (lines and circles for example). If I want to change the color of the lines and objects of a group, by clicking on a group, that is not possible. Or all line segments get a fill too or all the objects get a line too.

   To fix this, I have to go inside the group, select all the objects, change the fill and then select all the line segments and change the line color.

   A button to change the color of all line segments and the color of all object fills of a group (in one color) at once, that would be awesome.

   For everybody out there maintaining icon libraries for example, this would be a massive time saving feature.

   If this feature is already there please let me know!

9. Break apart blocks of text into separate text objects: by lines, words, characters, outlines

   As done in Flash, I need to be able to paste in a block of text and "break apart" the single text object to several separate text objects. Ideally each time I click break apart, the action will break the text down further: by lines, then words, then characters, then to outlines. This action should be assigned a shortcut to quickly cut up text that has been pasted in from outside Illustrator.

   I spend a lot of time pasting in label text for infographics and diagrams, and then cutting and pasting repeatedly to separate the labels out for positioning.

10. 'Reverse Order' option for Transform Effect

    When you set several copies in Transform effect, Illustrator makes them stack under original art, 'going backwards'. Sometimes it's better to have an opposite behaviour, with copies stacking up, 'towards' viewer.

    Please add this checkbox near 'Copies" field.

11. Draw/brush selection

    I work with pixel art. When I select I need to click on every single pixel to change color, if it's not simple shapes like a rectangle that I can marquee and select. If I draw, I just drag the pixels around accidentally. I would like to draw a selection with a brush (any brush I like), and that whatever is covered beneath what I draw by the brush gets selected. And it shall be in a mode that no pixels or objects or anything is dragged around.

    Why it's valuable? It would be a huge timesaver, and keep me from always accidentally moving pixels or objects around.

12. Add dividers/separators to custom tools panel (or enable stacking/docking them vertically)

    It would be nice to be able to visually separate tool groups in custom toolbars since there is no way to stack them vertically. Think "groups" in Microsoft Office apps' "ribbon". We can currently only...

    A) Mash all of our tools into one toolbar, with no means of visual organization apart from the order in which they appear (I don't count stacking the tools as "visual organization", since I cannot see them).

    B) Snap multiple toolbars together, but not while docked to edge of UI. They will not be movable together like this, and other UI elements can overlap them. Far from ideal.

    C) Dock the toolbars together horizontally. This is a massively inefficient use of screen space.

    P.S.: This is more of a peeve than anything, why do toolbars occupy all vertical space even when there are no tools there? We're going back to smaller screens now, with touch interfaces, so being able to utilize screen real estate is crucial.

    Actually, someone submitted a request for this already titled "Unable to Resize Tool Panels (verticle axis)". It started to receive votes and the mods (groan) closed it since it was worded sort of like a bug report, and mistaken for one.     You can assign your own custom shortcut to this command via Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts. Toggle 'Tools' to 'Menu commands' from the dropdown and search for 'Trim View'.

15. Allow to rename attributes and make folders in Appearance Panel

    Appearance are the most powerful feature of Illustrator, but the learning curve is difficult and for Advanced User it's difficult to manage and remember what are doing what in a Complex Appearance (cf. Screenshot where I had to use Colors to identify properties…)

    Adding features like:
    – Renaming (fill, stroke and effects)
    – Folders (like in Ps: "Pass Trough" blend mode, knockout, vector mask based on "Convert to shape" with 9 points proxy…)

    It will be more easier to understand Complex Appearance samples and for Advanced users, it will be way more efficient.

16. Remove Export Size Limit for PDF (200")

    I have designed a 206 Feet Wide banner Designed at 1:12 Scale (206") in illustrator, I am Literally Unable to Send it for Printing, Because i Can't Export it to PDF because its Exceeding 200"...

    Illustrator itself can't design something Greater than 227 Inches, While more WORST thing is the Export to PDF file Size Limit, which is currently set to 200". Why to Leave Scaling on Printer RIP, Why Not send a Print Ready File. So if there's something wrong, we could catch and fix it, rather get it Printed.

    The problem can be with the Repeated Background Pattern, Which Printer RIP SCALED UP 10 Times (in case of 1:10 design)

    The Problem can be with the Resolution after scaling Up.

    THERE'S NO PROOF READING, WE ALL ARE DOING IT BLINDLY!
    WE REALIZE MISTAKES WHEN WE SEE IT PRINTED (too costly at that stage)

17. Make Smart guides optionally work with live text

    Sometimes it is needed to snap to contour of live text.
    Right now it requires to make a copy of text, outline it, snap to desired point/segment, delete copy.

    What if user could tick an option that allows to snap to live glyphs? or use 'Ctrl' modifier to toggle this mode on the fly? It would allow us to skip copying-outlining-snapping-deleting and boost the speed.

    Snap to Glyph option, available in the View menu, released in the version 24.3 (2020), allows to snap to the live text as if it is outlined.

18. Text to outlines on save PDF

    My printers require fonts to be outlined. This is a huge hassle. I need to convert everything to outlines, save the PDF, and then remember to undo my outlining before I save the AI file.

20. Soft selection (Selection drop off)

    This already exists in many 3D applications (Maya, 3D Max, and C4d, for sure) and it's often treated, not as a separate tool, but as a setting in the regular selection tools. The idea is that you can set an gradient influence area where the points directly selected are affected 100% by transform changes, while everything else is affected by the changes but adjusted to the alpha percentage of the gradient at that point's initial location. I know that sounds like a mouthful, but it's very similar to how the mesh warp works (minus the having to convert anything and retaining full control of all your points individually at all times).
