1. Custom Measured Units for Accurate Drawing

   Today I zoom into the pixel level to draw 'in scale' - I would love the option to create custom units of measurement for my drawing and then have Snapping, Grids and Measuring Tools utilize them.

   For instance, make a illustration of a floor plan at scale but decide on 50px = 1 virtual foot. I could label this 'Feet' and accurately size lines and objects using this increment of measurement.

   Would be fantastic for my furniture and architecture sketching, as well as for many other hobbyists and professionals who know they get a more presentable result from Illustrator than AutoCad.

2. Shortcut with Cmd to select a tool

   Shortcuts with Cmd keys

   Please please make it possible to use the Cmd key to make shortcut to select a tool. This is crucial for working quick and efficiently. I know about the V and the A for choosing Selection and Direct Selection Tool, but when you are working with text, you cannot use these. Then you have to go the long way up to the tools panel to choose these. This make you work really slow.

   In Indesign it is easy to make this shortcut. In Photoshop and Illustrator it is prohibited. Please make this small adjustment to Illustrator to change the world!

3. Save Vector Artboards by Clipping Vector Art to the Artboard

   I need for vector artboards to be fully clipped to the artboard when saving as PDF and/or any other vector format. I have vector artwork for large format printing that I have cropped into many artboards in the same file. When I save individual artboards as PDF, any lines that extend outside the artboard are still available in the saved PDF file when opened in Illustrator. I need artboards to truly clip the vector artwork or I need another solution to this issue. Clipping masks do not actually clip vector artwork, in Outline Mode, the entire artwork is still there. The scissor and knife tools are painfully time consuming. Why is there no way to save just the data that you want to save?

4. A lock for the current style (stroke weight, fill, color), but tool specific

   When I need to adjust a filled object and then return to say, the pen tool. I first have to reset the color and stroke before I can go back to my line work. I would love it if there were simply a lock for this on the pallet so that while drawing I can lock it to a certain color, fill, and stroke weight/style. Perhaps a simple lock on the tool pallet under color. Gray out lock icon over color when I turn the pen tool back on would be a good indicator. So it is attached to that tool only, but easily unlocked when finished.

5. The "direct selection" tool should not move the whole object; only the "move tool" should do this; or it should be an option

   While using the "Direct Selection Tool" it moves the whole object sometimes
   Please make it an option to disable this feature.
   It should only move the anchor point. Since the points are small and in a complex document it causes a lot of mistakes. I have to do undo may times to reverse this. There is "Move tool" That should only move the object. Sometimes It causes unintentional changes in the documents That I do not want to make.

   Please make this an option in the settings

6. Allow to resize my current tool with like in Photoshop, with Alt and right-dragging (Windows) / Ctrl + Opt (Mac)

   Please add an Illustrator shortcut to resize my current tool! In Photoshop, if you're on the brush tool, then hold down CTRL and OPT, you can drag up/down to resize the brush. That would be GREAT in Illustrator!

7. Please add 'Save as preset' to the file menu

   The homescreen says in a promising way that we can Save and Find our own Document Presets. But how?

   Please add a way to save document presets, without having to struggle with permissions and cryptic folder names.

   And, please let thee presets migrate when Ai is updated :-)

8. Allow layers with "print" unchecked to also not render in "output for screens".

   Basically, just like the title says. When the "Print" box in a layer's properties is unchecked, that layer will not be printed (or, when exporting, it won't be used in the export).

   I'd like this behavior to be continued in export for screens. That way, you can set up layers for overlays and guides but not have to manually hide them before export.

   F/E, here's an overlay on a FB mobile sized coverpage; I'd like the blue box etc (on their own non-print layer called "overlays") to be gone on export so that when I export, all that the resulting image would be is the yellow "art" layer.

    It seems to work in the latest Beta 29.5.0.15, the Curvature Tool now respects Smart Guides. The position quantization for new points is still there, and these two snaps seem to fight, but it is usable finally. Please test it and provide some feedback.

11. Filtering font selection by source / vendor

    (This is a feature request for Ai, Ps, Id etc. as well)

    Filtering from source such as Fontbook, Monotype, Adobe Fonts, Google Fonts etc.

    I've noticed its common to only be allowed to use fonts from specific sources with some clients. It's been a headache to have to go into another app and cross reference which fonts are from what source. For example, a client I'm contracted full time under I can only use Monotype due to their commercial subscription status.

    Or even to be able to create our own folders / font collections to view those only.

12. Align to...BUTTON

    In a past version of AI, the "align to artboard or selection" was a button rather than a menu. Please bring back the button! I switch between these two options hundreds of times a week and the menu wastes time that adds up.

    大改革をしてみては如何でしょうか！？

    「著作権保護機能が完璧に達成された画像生成AI」アプリケーションでも
    良いですし、Adobe社の全てのアプリケーションが含まれるような、

    イーロン・マスク氏のような X アプリケーションのような考え方です。

    .aiの拡張子は、この先誰にも奪われませんし、世の中のクリエイターで、
    知らない人は殆どいないかと存じます。

    Adobe IllustratorとMacがなければ、私は今ここで、こういった発言を
    していなかった未来だと思いまして、

    突然頭の中で閃いた、ユニークなアイデアだけれども、お笑い的に言うと、
    そのまんまなんですが、何かしら、そういうすんごいアプリケーションに
    大改造したって、悪くないです。

    いや、むしろ、.aiこそが、人工知能の王者として相応しい！と
    後世の人に夢と希望あふれるようなスーパーアプリケーションに

14. Locked objects should not highlight at all when drag selecting over them

    That’s the whole reason I lock them, so they’re not in the way and are ignored during complex selections. Highlighting them when mousing over? It goes against the very design principle of locking. So annoying to see these fundamental usability regressions at every turn with .ai lately.

15. Display Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option in Control panel and Properties while using Artboard tool / mode

    The Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option should be displayed when the user is actually in the "Edit Artboard" mode, using the Artboard tool. It is common problem when you want to duplicate an artboard and you have locked background. In most cases, I want to move my artwork with the background.

16. Symbol Sprayer Tool Enhancement

    The Symbol Spray Tool is very awkward in using and not very intuitive to first time users. Who would have thought to double tap to open the options for the tool. There is very little documentation on this. I do not believe the tool is used by many artist. May be add the options to the menu bar? Also unable to ungroup or align the symbols once they are on the artboard. Would be awesome to be able to create a path and apply the symbols on the path. This would be great to create an outline then spray the symbols onto the outline. Thanks

17. Selection and zoom marquees should be able to be displayed orthogonally when a view is rotated

    When dragging out a selection marquee on a rotated canvas with either of the Selection tools, the marquee is drawn aligned to the canvas instead of the screen.

    The actual selection seems to be done in screen space - see the two attached screenshots, where my marquee was dragged from the lower left point of the marquee to the upper right, resulting in a displayed marquee that would select the sketch of hair above the eye, and an actual selection that only contains parts of the paths in the eye.

    The expected behavior would be that the marquee was drawn aligned to the screen, rather than to the canvas, and that the selection is also performed on a box aligned to the screen rather than to the canvas.

    When dragging out a selection marquee on a rotated canvas with either of the Selection tools, the marquee is drawn aligned to the canvas instead of the screen.

18. Touch Type improvements

    Touch Type is a nice tool that is still unfinished.
    - Can’t select several glyphs at once (not by Shift+clicking, not with a marquee)
    - Can’t constrain rotations to 45° by holding Shift
    - Can’t constrain movements to axes by holding Shift
    - Can’t select a glyph when it’s even partially obscured by another one next to it
    - Can’t reset selection to original states via on-screen controls
    - Snap to Glyphs obviously doesn’t work with it (imagine if it would have)
    - There is no way to apply changes to one glyph without shifting all glyphs to the right (relative/absolute mode) — previously reported at https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/34552057-make-the-touch-type-tool-work-both-sides

19. Shift + click on menu items (File, Edit, Object, etc) w/o closing menu after click

    Whenever I use the menu items (File, Edit, Object, Text, Select, Effects, View, etc) sometimes you go into a submenu, and select one option, e.g:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Select Hide guides
    4. Go to View Menu (again)
    5. Select the Perspective Grid sub-menu (again)
    6. Find and click my option (eg. "Snap to guides")

    Now if I could for example "shift+click" to keep the menus open after the click:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Shift+click "hide guides"
    4. Click "snap to grid" (without shift when I don't need it open anymore)

    It gets shorter, more efficient, and sometimes menus content is hard to memorize, so having the option to keep it open would make it quicker too.

    Let's look at the example user journey:

    In my workflow I am building an illustration of isometric sport games layouts.
    As Illustrator has an working area size limitation i am forced to keep the illustration in certain scale. and for smaller objects I have to create bigger versions of 3D elements, then through symbols/CC library scale them down. Otherwise the limitation in number of decimal places of the 3D effects doesn't allow me to keep the proper object shapes.

    The number of decimal places in Transform tool is 3 (minimum 0.001)

    The Bevel Height for some unclear reason is limited to zero decimal places — 1 pt

    Both have to be 3 decimal places a minimum value of at least 0.01 pt
