I am using Illustrator CC 2018 22.0.1 for Mac (High Sierra 10.13.2) and I am having trouble assigning CMD + Z to my "Undo" tool. After my last update, I had lost nearly all of the default keyboard shortcuts (I had never customized them before so I assume they were the defaults) like cmd + s = save, cmd + c = copy, cmd + v = paste, etc. which was really frustrating to always have to go to the menu bars to do small actions. However, I have since gone in manually and reinstated the old shortcuts, but for some reason it will not allow me to apply a shortcut with a "z" to "undo" or any other tool. I can apply another letter to the undo tool, but not "z". For the sake of continuity across all programs and habit of cmd+z for undo on nearly every program ever, I'd like to keep it as a z.

Oddly enough, this only happened to Illustrator. My other Adobe CC products are fine.

When I open a 'New Window' and arrange them tiled or float both windows so that they are both viewable at the same time and then position different views of the document in these two windows, when I start editing text in Window 1 the viewable content in Window 2 'aligns' with the view of Window 1 - why?

For example, I set Window 1 to view the top of the document and set Window 2 to view the bottom of the document and then when I edit text in Window 1 (top) the view in Window 2 scrolls up to present an 'aligned' view of Window 1.

Interestingly, if I open up a third New Window, giving all three different views, when I make an edit in Window 1, now Window 3 'aligns' and Window 2 keeps showing the view I originally set.

Now if I open up a fourth window, giving all different views, then when I make an edit in Window 1 the Window 4 'aligns' the view to Window 1 but Windows 2 and 3 stay put (different and original views I set).

It appears my installation has some sort of bug which causes two windows to 'align', a bit frustrating.

I've gone through preferences and have looked for any checkboxes to tick to prevent this behavior but have found no way to prevent this from happening.

I am using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator, i have restarted both my computer and my program numerous times and the issue persists. I am unable to move anything once placed on the Illustrator workspace. the only thing it allows me to do is to resize the objects but not move them.

It is realy frustrating when you come across issues like this which just interrupt workflow preventing you from doing the simplest actions. I am sure there is a fix but i dont have the understanding to know how to fix the issue and the majority of forums ive read dont give a simple conclusive resolution to this issue.

Not sure if I can articulate it properly, but here we go:

By example: I'm working with a logo and each time I drag a guide down to flush against the top of the logo, it goes just past it or just above it. It won't let me place the guide directly on top. Another example, when moving items around with arrow keys or trackpad, items won't automatically center or align with whatever I'm trying to align it to. It's like if I have an item on the X axis at 12.23 and want to align item two with it, it will align to 12 or 12.5 or 13, but no intervals in between, even with an item already on that axis point. I'm having to manually type in X and Y axis properties and it's making it really frustrating. I've been consistently updating CC and haven't had this problem until CC 2018.

This is not an idea, it's a bug in the system. The 'File -> New' command does not work. If I click 'File -> New', it brings up a new window that remains black and does nothing. I found a work around. If I check the use 'legacy "File New" interface' box In the 'Edit -> Preferences -> General' dialog, only then will it allow me to create a new document.

I can, however, upon initially opening illustrator, create a new document. But say i'm working on a project and I want to create a new document with the 'File -> New' command. It does not work unless I use the work around that I explained previously.

I'm also having similar problems with the help tab. Not a single command in the help tab works. If I click anything in the help tab, again, it opens a black screen that does nothing.

Clicking, tapping, with trackpad or wireless mouse (Kensington wireless Turbo Mouse trackball): click/tap does not release, so the object is highlighted or selected and stuck to the cursor as you move it around.

In the layers palette, (The new Properties/Layers) clicking/tapping a layer lock to unlock it may unlock it with a delay, or lock/relock it. The same goes for view/hide visibility for layers. The response is difficult to interpret, possibly because of delays. But it not possible to use the application at all, with trackpad or mouse. I do not have another mouse, but will try with one if I can acquire one.

Discussions in the community have noted this behavior with Illustrator CC 2018 and High Sierra, and some suggested turning off GPU in performance preferences. This does not solve the problem.

This kind of issue does not occur in any other application, Adobe or otherwise, in Mac OS High Sierra.

I use Illustrator on an iMac. With the upgrade to CC 2018, the following happened:
1) In the Layers Palette, all layers colored Cyan changed to Yellow;
2) All layers colored Magenta changed to Cyan.

By itself, this is not a terrible problem (disregarding Yellow as a terrible layer color to begin with!) The problem comes when I try to change them back.

When I open the Layer Options for a particular layer, I used to hit 'Tab' to take me to the Color, then 'C' to get Cyan. Now, it brings up a Custom window that I have to click to close, before typing 'C' and getting Cyan.

Specific colors are required for specific layers where I work, to leaving them in their changed state is not an option.

Please fix this, please.

It has been too long for this not to be working right yet. Smart guides aren't smart enough. When smart guides snap to something it has to be exact, not .05 pixels off. Close enough is not good enough. Also, when I drag over an object it needs to snap to that object, not some random shape clear across the pasteboard. If I have to zoom in 2600% to manually align something (which I often do) smart guides and snapping have failed. Is there some ridiculous setting I have to change to get this to work the way it's supposed to?
