Rotate dialogue box is now painfully inefficient (CC2019)
Rotate and Scale functions used to work the same, where you could press R+Enter or S+Enter to bring up their respective dialogue boxes, type in a number, and hit Enter. Very fast, very efficient. Now when you call up the Rotate dialogue box, the focus is on this manual angle widget instead of the numeric field. And should you try to use Tab to change the focus to that field you have to hit it 5x.
This used to be extremely efficient, which was great since it's not uncommon to use this feature hundreds of times in a day. It meant that, regardless of where your cursor was, you could quickly and precisely make these changes - with either a known angle or your closest guess and then close in using arrow keys or Shift+arrow keys.
Now performing this same common task means I have three far less efficient options:
1) Always have my Transform palette open and poke a value in there each time (that means having to always click on a specific part of the UI for the second most common transform function).
2)Double-click the Rotate tool in the toolbar, then double-click the numeric field, then use the keyboard to enter/adjust my values (hunting down two specific things to click on in sequence before I can enter my angle value. Hooray!)
3)Hit R+Enter (keyboard), then double-click in the numeric field (mouse), then enter/adjust my angle value (keyboard). There's no way that can possibly sound efficient.
Been using Illustrator for over 20 years. Still love it. Use it almost every day. I'm really hoping this was just an oversight in this latest version. If there is a more efficient way to make these changes in CC2019, I'm all ears. If not, this change stinks.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.2

When double clicking on the "rotate" tool a dialogue box pops up. Since the numeric Input field is not highlighted at once, it requires an additional click to Input numeric values. Please fix this asap. Adobe.
All other tools (e.g. scale) use to have the Input field instantly highlighted upon doubleclicking on the tool.
This canged with your latest update and is a time killer and a nuisance.

Love the comment about joining the pre-release team....the ignorance amuses me! The rotate tool is core functionality that should work. If I join a testing team, I'd expect to be testing ground-breaking functionality... however, NONE of the new 'features' over the past 3 versions have saved me time, changed my work habits or made me more efficient. If anything, they take longer, seem more cumbersome and are costing me time zooming in and out now to make sure I'm grabbing the correct handles. The fact that the resize, rotate, flop and skew are interconnected... they are all very buggy now. This should never have been changed or released without fixing.

Okay, here I am in December with the 2019 AI running on Windows 10 and the rotate tool just does not work. It will not set a new rotate point at all. Please fix this.

You are so quick to take our $50+ a month to pay your salary but yet you take no time to test your software for bugs before unleashing it onto the world. JUST STOP!! As mentioned below, you cannot take already established basic functions and change or delete them! You MUST put PROFESSIONAL and VETTED designers in a room to FULLY TEST FUNCTIONS before you let software go live!!! Designers bid by the hour or bid by the project. We must be allowed to work with software that's dependable! Any extra moves or keystrokes take time and money away from our work! YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND YOUR AUDIENCE and provide software that's worthy of the monthly fee you charge!

I reported this via Twitter and Adobe care insisted nothing was wrong. Took me a few tweets to get respect

ILLUSTRATOR ROTATION TOOL
Degree number is not pre-highlighted as a default the way the the SCALE TOOL is pre-highlighted as a default.Designers should not have to highlight the degrees box. It should be pre-highlighted. Please double-click the SCALE tool and you will see what I'm referring to. (See enclosed jpegs.) The number in the box is already highlighted by default. We once had the same for the ROTATION TOOL, but it was taken away with the 2019 version. Please return it.
The less moves and keystrokes a designer needs to make, the better for time management. THANK YOU!

"Will you PLEASE stop changing basic functions and usability when you add features?!?!?!?!?!?!? Please fully beta-test and vette new features with seasoned power users!"
Could not agree more, what are you total lunatics. How do you even survive as a publicly listed company.

I used to hit R then my angle. Now I have to hit R, then Tab 5x, then my angle. I used this command 100X an hour. You increased my button pushing by 500x an hour.
Here's the breakdown: Select Object. Hit "R". Hit "Enter". and now the focus button is the OK button. The focus used to be the Angle input.

It seems that the old convention of clicking on the name of the value to highlight the value entry box is lost in many places.
Click on Angle in the Rotate panel, nothing happens (it did in CC 2018 (and the value was automacally selected when opening the dialog)).
Click on Angle in the Move panel, nothing happens (it did in CC 2018).
Click on Shear Angle in the Shear panel, nothing happens (it did in CC 2018 (and the value was automacally selected when opening the dialog).
Click on any value name in the Properties Panel, nothing happens X Y W H for Transform, it does in the Transform panel. -

I noticed the same problem. I am used to rotating things specific amounts and now it is just broken. You can tab 5 times to get to the correct input or have click with cursor to key in rotation.
Also, I went through some of the other tools and Shear tool mayhave the some problem.

I use the Rotate Dialog a lot, and this is a seemingly minor inconvenience that is having a big impact on my workflow.

Under Review since 29 Oct..... How hard is it to check the tab stop order on the Rotation tool. Should not take a month to fix something so simple

I might add that all the other tools still have the Input Field selected. (i.e. move or scale)

Agreed what the ****! Man come on. Anyone actually use the software in the dev or testing team.
This has totally broken my workflow.

I agree, this sucks, it's like Illustrator is going backwards.

Another similar change compared to CC2018. In CC 2019, the Rotate Percentage field in the Effect > Transform > Distort & Transform effect is not highlighted when clicking on the name Rotate, like it was in previous versions. Same in the Object > Transform Each dialog.
