  1. Type disappears in latest update

    Typing in a text box, all of a sudden it disappears even though all indications say it's there, the right point size, and has a fill color.

  2. When copying text in Arabic or Hebrew, Illustrator messes up the characters.

    Somehow the text gets flipped into Jibberish. Even when Arabic fonts are used such as Adobe Arabic. This causes the world to be filled with jibberish Hewbrew and Arabic.

  3. Variable Font bug: "wiggling" top of "U"

    1. Download and unzip https://www.dropbox.com/s/3b6k0izkm5ma3dy/200719-AdobeVFBug.zip?dl=1

    2. Install the font from font/DaikonVF-mini.ttf

    3. Run Illustrator 24.2.1

    4. Type "AU" and choose the Daikon VF font

    5. In the property bar, click the Variable Font button and move the weight slider between the extreme locations. Observe how the top of "U" "wiggles" (jumps up and down). This is shown in videos/DaikonVF-Illustrator-24.2.1,.mp4

    6. The same problem occurs in InDesign 15.1.1

    7. The same problem occurs in DTL OTmaster 7.9 and in FontView 2019 (an open source app built from https://github.com/googlefonts/fontview ) — both apps use older versions of the FreeType library.

  4. Area type jumping around when moved

    When area type is grouped with a rectangle and moved by dragging the area type jumps away from the rectangle

  5. Type on path side brackets shrink after the object gets resized, until moved

    With a large text placed on a curve, every time you move any bracket they become very small. If you move the text everything goes back to normal until you touch the anchors again.

  6. Text Cursor in Medium Light mode is invisible

    The text cursor and the click+drag selection box are the same color as the background outside of an artboard if the User Interface is set to Medium Light mode. They are completely invisible.

  7. Copy text on path with option held crashes Illustrator.

    I am creating type on a path. When I copy the text with option and drag it to paste, Illustrator consistently crashes without any recovery options.

  8. Stroke intersections when typing in Arabic or Persian

    When I type this language I have a problem when using a stroke for this language.
    I hope to have a fix for this problem.

  9. font kerning

    The kerning between the letters "F" and "i" is not working in illustrator whichever font I use. It works in Indesign

  10. Selecting a font open Glyphs panel

    When I select a font or a previously selected font from the Drop Down Font menu the Glyphs tab (even though I don't have it selected or open anywhere else) it opens across my whole workspace.

  11. Type on a path tool resizing causes crash

    I have the latest version of Illustrator CC 2020 v. 24.0.3. Unfortunately, everytime I try to resize a type on path, Illustrator crashes. I have restarted the app and system and that didn't help.

  12. Black versions of color fonts are no longer accessible

    EmojiOne font B&W fallback version is no longer accessible in current versions of Illustrator. This is a crying shame! I am forced to stay with AI CC2015 because I need access to the black and white version of this font. Why would Adobe take away a perfectly useful variation of a font because it is a "color" font????

  13. Ligatures in Baskerville URW

    Although ligatures appear on the Adobe Font Library website for "Baskerville URW" and are visible in the glyph panel, they will not update in Illustrator text object.

  14. Character styles do not allow for optical alignments and kerning

    Paragraph style applied to text area does not allow for optical margin alignment.

    Not sure why this is happening but one paragraph style will let me kern punctuation outside of the box, and then another one will not. Instead, the character styles flicker around as I kern and will not change.

    Converting the paragraph style to another one fixes this issue - but reappears when I apply the intended style.

    Mac OSX Catalina.

  15. Space After Paragraph is Missing

    I'm using Illustrator 2020, v24.0.1 on a MacBook Pro using OS Mojave v10.14.6

    Not sure where it went, but in the Paragraph tool, the "Space After Paragraph" feature is simply gone. I've rebooted the program and its still missing. Need this basic standard feature back ASAP.

  16. Letter Spacing

    Open Type Letter Spacing doesn’t work properly. If I enable "all caps" the (usually ******) spacing is not applied.

    Thanks for reporting this issue. We are able to reproduce this at our end and the issue is currently under review.

  17. Illustrator's fonts are not displaying

    When I type something, the character panel does not show any fonts as an option. I have tried the dropdown menu to no avail. I found a work around a couple days ago but cannot remember what it was!

  18. Files change type position/spacing when opening file saved in older versions of illustrator

    Files opened in 23.1.1 saved in recent previous versions of illustrator change spacing, position and kerning.

    I am working in 23.1.1 and the files in question were saved in a recent previous version. What happens is only certain fonts (all open type format in document) jump position by as much as 1 point. this has been confirmed on multiple machines running new version (23.1.1)

    It appears that kerning/spacing/tracking gets altered. The attached file shows the comparison between new version and old version. green highlights show amount of distance of shifting.

  19. Increase font shortcut: Command + Shift + . no longer works

    Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB

    Increase font shortcut: Command + Shift + . no longer works.

    Decrease font shortcut DOES still work. Super annoying.

    EDIT: I just realised if you press the decimal point on the number pad it works. The wrong "." seems to have been assigned the shortcut.

  20. Justification doesn't work right

    In a block of justified text, when you fine tune the justification settings to spread the letters more evenly and avoid white gaps, the justification gets broken.
    (In Indesign the same procedure works perfectly.)

    On my screenshot you see the default setting on the left, and on the right with the letter and glyph spacing set to slightly decreased minimum and slightly increased maximum values – and the justification is gone…
