Image resolution wrong when rotated
When you place an image into a document the resolution is shown correctly, but if you rotate it, Illustrator continue to consider original pixel width and height as if image was not rotated.
Example:
- Import new 800x400px @72dpi image.
- Illustrator shows correctly 72ppi.
- Rotate it 90°.
- Illustrator now shows 144x36ppi, as if image size was 800w x 400h but it was stretched to 400w x 800h (so 800/400 = 2x -> 144 and 400/800 = 0.5x -> 36).29 votesThank you for reporting the issue. We have added the issue to our backlog.

Object > Expand = Crash
I have the most updated version of Illustrator CC - whenever I use the expand tool, illustrator crashes.
I've reinstalled, restarted my computer - can't seem to figure it out.

Illustrator crashes when using the appearance panel or styles and effects.
Illustrator CC 2018 crashes with the blue screen of death especially when I am working on the appearance panel or effects drop down menu. Illustrator simply freezes, promoting that is not responding and in 5-10 seconds the system crashes. Please help! Need to meet deadlines.

The top layer has an additional BLACK stroke applied that’s why the WHITE stroke on the artwork is not displayed. Please select Layer 1 from Layers panel and then from Appearance panel remove the Stroke.

Align and Transform Not Working
Not sure if I can articulate it properly, but here we go:
By example: I'm working with a logo and each time I drag a guide down to flush against the top of the logo, it goes just past it or just above it. It won't let me place the guide directly on top. Another example, when moving items around with arrow keys or trackpad, items won't automatically center or align with whatever I'm trying to align it to. It's like if I have an item on the X axis at 12.23 and want to align item two with it,…
2 votesAs noted in comments the problem is most probably in the enabled Align Art to Pixel Grid option, in the right top corner. The grid is disabled, but the snapping occurs. There are some changes planned to streamline this workflow, because this is very generic problem.

New File and Help Tabs Not Working
This is not an idea, it's a bug in the system. The 'File -> New' command does not work. If I click 'File -> New', it brings up a new window that remains black and does nothing. I found a work around. If I check the use 'legacy "File New" interface' box In the 'Edit -> Preferences -> General' dialog, only then will it allow me to create a new document.
I can, however, upon initially opening illustrator, create a new document. But say i'm working on a project and I want to create a new document with the 'File…

When maximizing Illustrator it extends beyond the screen borders.
I have a vertical dual monitor setup. At one time it was a horizontal setup, but that was in prior versions before version 22.0.1 64 Bit. Anytime I try to maximize on my 3840x2160 laptop monitor it will expand beyond the screen border. I have attached a screenshot. Only started happening since the last update. I have tried changing settings for my screens and within illustrator but it still doesn't seem to fix the issue. Can anyone help?

Adobe Illustrator Hidden Layers Show In InDesign
When layered files are placed from Illustrator into InDesign, the files in InDesign show the Illustrator hidden layers. If you're not careful, the files can be presented incorrectly. The only fix I have seen is to resave the Illustrator file, then delete and import the image again in InDesign with the layer options selected. Review each layer before confirming the image placement.

X- Y-coordinates are not aligning
When attempting to align two existing points by typing in an exact measurement for x- y-coordinates, they do not align on screen. When the measurements typed in are the exact same, they are NOT aligning on the screen. This is making it quite difficult to refine shapes.

Non-persistant Align To bug is back, Constant Crashes, Etc. And, I had to reset ever preference after upgrading AI. I don't understand. I was given a fix for AI to install, then the update for AI has the same bugs and whatever. Why Does AI crash all the time, now? It's like, oh no, I did something, time for AI to crash. Why don't you all observe the application being used for something besides overlaying circles?

type/color changes having difficulty taking
v.22.0.1 64-bit on win 10
never had these issues before today, but basically some changes are selectively not taking, are reverting back to previous. 2 examples:changed type font from Clyburn to Hummingbird (from Tk), change takes, saved work, then went to move type and reverts to Clyburn. so copied layer with Hummingbird, locked it, hid it, then made change, still switched back. closed/rebooted Illustrator, was back in Clyburn. however, made change and it finally took, however could not change between Hummingbird Regular and Bold.

SVG text export failure
Illustrator 22.0.1 cannot export text layer names to SVG, which seriously impairs our SVG processing pipeline. Tested on both Mac and PC.
To reproduce:
• Create a blank document
• Create a new text object with the Type tool
• Give the text object a name in the Layers control panel
• Export to SVG, setting Object IDs to "Layer Names"The resulting SVG code will contain a <text> entity, but without its "id" attribute!

Possible bug: Crash after script runs... runs OK in ESTK.
I believe this might be a bug since it crashed Illustrator rather than the script crashing gracefuly.
I have a script which, when completed, crashes Illustrator. The script runs fine when ran from within the ESTK but crashes when ran from the AI File->Scripts menu. Attached is the crash log. I cannot post the script itself here but am willing to send it to an Adobe employee privately if needed.

When I try to save a file, I am told my file is a "read only" copy
I use Illustrator version 20.0.0 (2015.3)
I have not experienced this problem until very recently.
After I have saved a file, when I make changes to it that I want to save, I am told I cannot, as it is a read-only copy.
I have already checked the properties of my file, and it is NOT "read-only."

Illustrator CC 2018 - CEP 8 HTML Extension Resize Issue
We are experiencing resizing issue in the latest CEP version. Our extension allows user to resize extension's window, however whenever any navigation occur, window size resets. Problem exists in Illustrator CC 2018 (22.0.1), everything is working fine in previous version (CC 2017).
We already tried different geometry settings and extension UI types, but problem persists and seems to be related to engine itself.We successfully reproduced this issue with official git hub sample extension. Steps to reproduce:
1. Open sample extension with debug mode enabled
2. Resize window
3. Change window location in console to any other page

illustrator crashes when using surface pen to draw
as soon as i use Illustrator to draw using my surface pen on my surface 4 pro illustrator crashes. it did this to me in the trail of cc 2018 however i assumed it was because of the trail version. i subscribed to cc 2018 a few days ago to draw and i haven't been able to draw with my tablet. mouse seems to work but as soon as i use a brush with my surface pen it crashes and will not allow me to generate a crash report as it stays gray forcing me to restart my computer.

Edges are not aligned precisely to fills and strokes
After last update, the edges of selected objects seems shifted compared to shape outline about 1 pixel, while anchor point is centered.
When zoomed it's not well visible, but with small objects it's very annoying.6 votes -

Pencil automatically goes to no color
Hi, everytime I draw a line with the pencil tool and have the fill with a color ex: black it automatically goes to no color. This randomly just started happening to me.
