I am now experiencing the joy (total sarcasm!) of losing the functionality of the space bar hand tool. WTF?! Adobe! Ever since Adobe had the brilliant (more sarcasm) idea of moving to a subscription plan to use the software, I have encountered more bugs/issues on a regular basis than I ever have before. But this one is the worst! You have taken away one of the MAIN functions that I've used since I began working in Illustrator over 20 years ago. Get your **** together Adobe and fix this ASAP!!! I'm not paying for your software to have it work sometimes!

This has to be one of the most frustrating thing I've ever come across as a designer.

Temp solution: Lock your computer/ sleep it and it WORKS as soon as you wake it back up/unlock it.
It's the weirdest thing but it works for me at least (macbook) every time.

Yes, this is right. Closed Safari, it can work.

Just to make sure nobody thinks this is resolved for everyone by closing browsers, closing Chrome, Safari, and every other program on my computer still DOES NOT solve the problem for me. And I do not have webroot installed. When it goes, I can shut down everything except for Illustrator, and the space bar hand tool functionality is still gone, until I completely restart my computer.

As others have mentioned, quitting all open web browsers fixed the issue. Which begs the question...why on Earth should Safari being open have any effect on Illustrator??

Quiting Chrome resolve the issue, thanks God!!!

same here. nothing got it back, then i accidentally press a combination of buttons to initiate siri popup. i closed the pop up and the hand showed back. Not sure if there's something to do with system shortcuts interfering with app keys usage.

I found a workaround in Photoshop. Go to the Photoshop/Preferences/General. Click on "Enable Flick Panning". Just toggle that on and off. Fixed the problem for me.

Guys, If you have any browsers (Safari,Chrome) open, just quit them whilst keeping illustrator open. It worked for me.
