I have a solution for the above problem in transforming object. I found that Illustrator enabled "align to pixel grid". It altered my object position a bit to "fit" to the pixel grid. The solution is : Disable "Align to Pixel Gird" function by:
1) Transform panel >> disable "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid" in the "options" list.
2) For any existing objects, select them and UNCLICK the check box of "Align to Pixel Grid" in the "Transform panel".

This has been driving me crazy for years! Same thing happens in the Color panel. There is a processing lag that occurs if you input a value and then tab to the next field too quickly—Illustrator gets confused and botches the second input.

Yep, still not fixed with the latest release (IllustratorCC 2019). A major issue and flaw of the software that needs addressing as soon as possible. Can't believe this wasn't fixed! Come on Adobe!

I have the same problem. and this bug still exists in CC2019(23.0), macOS Sierra 10.2.6.
When I input X and Y values using keyboard (ex.1212→tab key→1212→enter), the panel sometimes returns wrong Y value. This occurs when I quickly switch the x-y value fields using tab key (but not always).
I really would like the developer team to fix this issue.

numbers are arbitrarily changed by the program on any input value.

impossible to do the most basic task, such as creating a box of specific dimensions!

interesting behavior: when insisting with the same input - the program will step by step come closer to the intended value!

what a miserable bug for a program that millions rely upon - trust upon the expertise and care of the developers

Mac OSX High Sierra, Illustator CC22.1

Entering a number in X then hitting tab to Y and typing in the number is jogging to another number and not applying the number I typed. I have to wait a couple seconds then re-type in the number for Y. I have tried reinstalling and trashing preferences still happens. I use this tool 100+ everyday. Please help.

Someone else was having this issue and I posted there, but then they closed the comments on that thread. Its still happening. It's the most annoying thing in the world I use that tool like 100+ times each day.

Hi, I've noticed a bug when using the transform palette on the Mac version, when entering a value in say 'W', when I tab through to 'H' put a value and hit enter it ignores this and just adds a random number which causes the object to be the wrong size. The workaround is to tab past 'H' and then tab back to it and hit enter which is tedious to say the least when working quickly.

So I spoke too soon. I posted below about #2 working but it ONLY works if the X field doesn't glitch on the tab first. I just typed in the X field and it glitched (changed to different number after entering intended number and pressing tab) after tabbing before I could even go to the Y field. So have to take it back and say I couldn't consistently get this to work with the solution outlined.

#2 works well for me too if waiting at least 1-2 seconds after pressing tab when entering the X field but in essence it's like telling us to type slower. I guess this solution is do-able but it forces a change in habit by being more conscious in giving that extra pause between tabs. For me personally, that will take awhile for me to get used to and make it a habit. What do others think?

I feel it addresses the symptom but being that this was not an issue in versions before 2016, may not be tackling the root cause.

I tried #2 on a couple different documents and it worked both times.

I've emailed the video and file used in the video. This is still an on-going issue. And yes, as Anonymous from July 15 commented, this started happening and later versions, I want to say, starting at around CC 2016. Previously, this was never an issue. And to Anonymous from April 16, I doubt decimals have anything to do with it. This glitch happens when whole numbers are entered plenty of time as much as decimal numbers.

This is still stuffed(!!) and broken when using the TAB key to nav around and between the X and Y, and W and H boxes in the TRANSFORM palette.

For exampke, create a shape rectangle anywhere on the page at any dimension. Click in X box and input the desired X co-ordinate of say 50px… hit tab to go to Y box to insert desired Y co-ordinate of say 80px. Text says it is that but there is no way that the object is at that location. Deselect object and re-select it with pointer tool and it then shows correct Y value, which then needs to be **** corrected to the 80px as first needed.

Serious bug as older versions of Illustrator never dispalyed this type of error.

Please fix!

Ever since the update to the CC versions I've had this issue in the Transform menu. I type in a value for X, use the Tab key to type the value for Y and hit return. The Y value just switches to a random value...

I'm using the most recently AI CC2018 (22.1) on macOS High Sierra (10.13.4) and have been having this issue for a few months now. Multiple times a day for work I use this function. This is what I do:

I want to create an outline centered around the graphic I've created. I make sure everything is centered in my 800x800px art board, select the shape (a rectangle made from the Rectangle Tool) and in the Transform panel type in: [X:]400px --> [press] tab --> [Y:] 400px --> [press] enter. The x value always is fine and stays at 400px, but the y value goes to a random number in the 700-800s.

I'm not able to view the video, but make sure your W and H values are not decimals. The X and Y variables are dependent on the size of the object, so decimals can cause it to be off. I would think if you type in an X and Y variable, it would stay put regardless but that does not seem to be the case. So, in the meantime—no decimals in the W and H fields. :\ Not great.

Hi, thanks for addressing this and apologies that it's taking me awhile. Recorded many videos when it didn't happen and when I did, the transform panel wasn't captured in the video. Finally got everything I wanted in the video. Video shows that I'm trying to center the text on an 18" x 36" artboard. You can see in the transform panel I am trying to center it at 18" on the X/horizontal axis with the anchor point at the center. It jumps to 27" which is a completely random number to me. The glitch in this video happens often and also when trying to align an object (usually a rectangle the same size as the artboard) to X: 0 / Y: 0 (with left corner anchored), the object will move in to the X-coordinate to 0 but not to 0 in the Y-coordinate and I have to deselect the object, re-select it and input the Y coordinate again for the object to finally also move in the Y direction. This also happens on my Mac computer.

Same Issue. The numbers in my Properties Transform don't match the number in the transform properties boxes. If I try to create a rectangle that's 5" by 4" the actual size it produces is 4.9861" by 3.9861".
