Copy and paste doesn't always work
I've been experiencing problems with Illustrator. When I copy an object with the ctrl + c button and try to paste them it randomly doesn't work.
The problem is that I can't replicate it on command. At first I thought it had something to do with the laptop that I used, but it also happens on a freshly installed desktop.
My version of Illustrator is 22.0.1
I also checked the copy paste functions under the edit tab, and when I copied something it didn't show the ability to paste it. It could also only have something to do with copying files.

I have the same issue. It will not copy paste text or objects even with in Illustrator. It randomly stops working and randomly starts working. A reboot is not the answer either (program or system). This is crazy! I use the copy paste function in my job all the time exp. for text from other people. I really expect more from Adobe.

I also believe that it is a generic issue, we started noticing it at my studio around the beginning of 2018, after updating Illustrator to the latest version at that time.
Our whole studio of 5 workstations (Windows 10 64bit & Adobe CC 2019 updated to the latest stable versions, Intel i7 & AMD Threadripper processors, 32 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GTX graphics cards) is experiencing these issues very often. Back in January 2018 we were using Windows 8.1 64bit - the problem was also there.
There is no particular way to reproduce the problem - every once in a while, pressing Ctrl+C does not move the copied object to the clipboard, "Paste" in "Edit" menu is greyed out, as Rod Sawatsky explained in March 2018.
Please fix it, this is extremely frustrating and it has been like this for MORE THAN A YEAR AND A HALF. No other software behaves this way, we are sure this is solely an Illustrator issue.

It's believed that this could relate with clipboard managers. Do you have any installed?

IT IS a generic issue. I'm using win10 and CS5.1 and the overall success rate of copy&paste is below 10%.

I have the exact same bug reported here and by other users and also on different sites across the internet. Seems to be called a "generic" issue in previous threads and threads closed even though it has been reported across many versions of Illustrator and different OS setups.
Here’s my description as I’d typed it up before finding this thread:
When I copy an object with try to paste it randomly doesn't work. This is the case for using the shortcut (control C followed by control V) or using the right click menu, or using the top menu. Also occurs when attempting to “paste in front “or “behind”.
I can't replicate it on command. I have the latest version of Ai running on Windows 10, but as mentioned I have also had the same problem intermittently with previous versions, and a cursory search of these forums or the internet reveals many users have encountered the exact same problem with different OSs and Illustrator versions.
It is extremely frustrating and needs to be addressed ASAP, it is making Ai unworkable at the moment!

Hi all,
This is a very frustrating bug - around 50% of the times copy & paste won't work. I select an object, press ctrl+C, and then pressing ctrl+V produces nothing as if the clipboard is empty.
I cannot reproduce it as it seems random, sometimes it will copy & paste, sometimes it won't.
This makes working with Illustrator extremely hard.
Might be worth mentioning that copy-pasting from Illustrator into Photoshop resembles the same buggy behavior - it will randomly work or not.
Please advise on how to resolve this.
Cheers -

Version 22.1 on an iMac running 10.13.4, copy from Photoshop into Illustrator doesn't work. It does work on my MacBook Pro with the same versions. I can copy and paste between Illustrator documents. This is definitely maddening!
