MAC: System has run out of memory and force quits - Activity Monitor shows > 100GB
After launching Illustrator it will force quit with an error message "your system has run out of application memory." I have 8GB of memory and no other applications are open or running when I launch Illustrator. I am noticing in the activity monitor that illustrator is using a large amount of memory, extremely higher that usual. This started happening a few days ago and I have no changes to my OS or updates to Illustrator CC
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

never seen a professional software leaking so much memory. terrible quality Mr Singh. A reinstall fixed it for few days but the issue is back again.

Thanks for getting back to me. I just had to delete the Illustrator preferences and the problem was fixed.

This did not work for me. I renamed the file FontFeatureCacheTest.json then restarted Illustrator and opened one file (granted, it’s a very complex file, but I was able to work with it before today, though I have been experiencing out of app memory messages for several days). Illustrator RAM use quickly jumped to 53GB. Earlier today, Activity Monitor reported Illustrator claiming 189GB RAM lol. InDesign 14.0.2 is apparently having the same problem… one simple file open, 27GB RAM.

After a few minutes of using Illustrator I get prompted with the Force Quit menu saying it is using 120gb+ of memory (cached onto the SSD I'm assuming?).
After this point it's impossible to do anything but force quit.Running just Illustrator and Spotify (but also happens if just Illustrator running...).
This is on a completely fresh install of Mojave (currently on base 10.14) and a fresh install of latest Illustrator CC.
System specs: iMac 5k, i5 Quad Core, 16gb Ram, booting off external USB 3 SSD (brand new, just replaced it as the past drive recently crashed, now wondering if it might be at all related as I was having this issue before the fresh install...).
Any help would be amazing!

Same.
In the file I'm working on Illustrator memory use will grow to 130GB+ before the system forces me to shut something down. Trying to track down what it is that's triggering it....Illustrator v23.0.2

After the update to 22.0.1 I cant trace a simple handdrawn image. I have been reducing the size to 540x720(94kb) with no avail. Illustrator cant open the image because of insufficient memory to complete the operation. The frustrating part are that before the update I have been doing that 1000 times over. I´m running a macbook pro with just over 40 GB free space and 8 GBs of ram.
Another problem are that some of my previous AI files dont show up correctly. I have saved them as PDF´s, as I have done many times in the past. If I open them in preview and reader, all the data(image bg + texts) is there and are editble. If I open in illustrator, where I created the file, there is nothing. Only a white background with no content.
How do I get it to function as it did before the update? This is my work.
