Illustrator CC 2019 is very slow and laggy
I'm using a Mac OS 10.13 Intel Core i7 16 GB. Ever since I updated to the CC 2019, illustrator became laggy and slow. The other adobe apps worked fine after the update. I saw here that I should try turning the dictation off but that didn't help.
Everything in illustrator is slow now. And if I use the blend tool a lot in one document the eyedropper option in the gradient window becomes unavailable. Everything even if it's as simple as moving from one art board to the next or zooming in/out is lagging

Very sluggish here, as well, ever since the first 2019 release. Windows 10 environment. I've found that disabled GPU acceleration has helped significantly, but has not resolved the problem 100%.

I must say the CC 2019 version is sometime so slow and laggy. Last year we ha several issues with the standard iMac Fusion drive. We swapped the fusion drive for a SSD drive and performance went up on the iMac but now the CC version gets verry verry slow. Was considering swapping the iMac 5K for a iMac pro but I'm not sure there will be any difference in performance working wit AI CC. I'm just thinking out loud, since CC works in a cloud, would the internet connection make any difference?

Same problem here. Running sluggish. Before updating to the latest version ran just fine. Just choosing and moving elements around on the artboard is painful. I've tried different settings...nothing works. Fix PLEASE!!!

Same. Windows 10, two identical CPUS Pavillion 16 g ram. Only difference between the two boxes is one auto updates adobe software and the other does not. Guess which one is working fine and which one (plus Premiere as well) is completely hosed?
Adobe is clearly not taking this seriously. Their silence says it all.

Terrible performance here as well. Are Retina displays the problem? Another hardware incompatibility issue perhaps?
My Setup:
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB
AMD Radeon R9 M395 2GBResolution: 5120 x 2880
Mac OS 10.14.4Illustrator 23.0.3
UI Scaling is now set to line 2/4
Cursor scaling is disabled.
Using second option for anchor/handle style.
Undo Counts are set to max: 200
GPU Performance Enabled.
Animated Zoom Off.
Data recovery set to save every 2 minutes.Performance is better on Illustrator 2018 but this is just a workaround while we throw money into the cloud.

I also get this problem. Illustration 2019 CC is running slowly as to be unusable.
None of the user recommended fixes work, it is best to revert to 2018 for now.
Tried on windows 10 and mac OSX mojave on retina macbook pro. Same issue on both machines.

Illustrator has become near impossible to use in any professional capacity. I have these same issues as most of the posters here, as well as the OP, on everything from the latest iMac to MacBook Pros that all run Mojave. Not to be overly dramatic, but this is past unacceptable for an application that is supposed to be an industry standard.

I have an Asus PC with latest i7 and 32Gb of RAM, also latest GTX videocard and I can confirm that Illustrator 19 is moving really really slow! It's just really annoying and unbelievable, like, what's going on???

Super laggy. Intermittent maxing out of CPU. Unusable at times.

I am noticing this too. Zooming in an out, super slow. 1-2 seconds to zoom in to the next "step" I thought 2019 was supposed to be faster.

I have a delay changing tools, especially to the Type tool on a fast Win 10 machine. But pretty much an increase problems that effect efficiency are expected after an Illustrator update. That's been the sad state of the things for quite some time.

Guys, his has been winding me up for a while now, while using CC2019 it felt like everything was working in slow motion, even moving the cursor on a blank page fely laggy, I've finally found the fix.
Preference > user interface > uncheck 'scale cursor proportionally'
You will see an immediate performance increase on your cursor and throughout illustrator

A couple weeks ago bought a brand new late 2017 iMac 27" 3.8 i5 RX580 with 24 gigs of RAM.
Illustrator and Indesign are unworkable. Lagging on every move, even with a simple box on a blank page. Tried to run the apps in low res mode, improved a little, but now I cannot see the details.
Also, I did not spent over $2k to squint my eyes all day like an idiot. FAIL. Called Adobe to sort this out, didi a Teamviewer session only to hear that there is no solution and "we are working on it".
"WORKING ON IT"??? for two years now? what kind of major BS is that?
Nevermind, told them I'm returning the iMac tomorrow, which I did.
Now back on my old 2013 iMac i5 that for some reason does not suffer from that disease.
Major problem with either Adobe, hardware or a combination of both.
Maybe this is the reason they cannot fix it and just lie to us.
New iMac came out a couple days ago. Will see if they are any better.GET YOUR S***T TOGETHER APPLE!!!

I have recently updated my illustrator, and it is unusable because of the laggy performance. My MBP isn't the latest model, but I am sure it is capable of running an app like this. Please check and update asap, I can even do my job now. Thanks.

I also have this problem. Particularly for opening a new document, and saving.
