Background Save works but it thinks it's not working!
Illustrator 2020 v24.0, MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
As I'm working on a .AI file, I periodically save, expecting the saving to complete in the background.
The save completes - I can tell that by looking at the file using QuickLook in the Finder, but...
Expected Result: I expect the asterisk to go away, and I expect to have no dialog when I click close.
Actual Result: The "I'm not a saved document" asterisk is still in the title bar, and if I click the close button, I get a "your document won't be saved" dialog.
I'm uploading a screenshot.
This issue is fixed in version 25.0 and above.

I've already comment on this post and as I see new post from other users, I think the problem is pointing towards the Esko plugin. Because, I also have the Esko plugin !
Thanks to "Anonymous commented · June 15, 2020 15:45", completely turning off the "background save" feature and it works. The " * " disappeared when save is done.

Same issue here. I experience it on our whole team (12+ people).
Some of them have Esko installed, some of them don't.
The only fix we have found so far is completely turning off the "background save" feature.Let me know if you would like a demonstration via remote screen share.

I'm having same issue since updating to Mojave and Adobe CC 2020 on my Imac a couple of months ago...very annoying. Extra steps not appreciated in a production environment!

This issue has still not been resolved. I have also asked for a fix. The latest version 24.1.2 still does this. Why?! Please can you guys have a look at this?

I can do a save as, close the document and it still asks me if I want to save as if I changed something. Very annoying since I have to save out 4 files of the same job.
There are so many saving issues with this version. Something that didn't have to be touched.

Same situation here ! What's more confusing than the asterisk, it's when I'm going to close the file and it still asking me if I want to save it.
Does someone has this bug fixed on your side?

Happens the same with me.
The " * " icon besides the name of the document (tab) won't go away when I save. -

It is doing the same thing to us at work. It saves, but doesn't think it does. I've had it save and close another document I had open too, and leave the current one unsaved and open. Really making it hard to work through a lot of jobs.

Yup, this bug is still here... I thought it was supposed to be fixed 2 updates ago, but I just last night installed the latest update, and it's still doing it! Background save was the only reason I updated 3 or 4 updates ago. It would be such a huge time saver, if it would only let itself work!

Same issue on my end, on all the computers we use in our office on our network. No updates have solved this bug and it's getting frustrating because it has been going on for weeks now.

Everytime I save file, it saves it. But the " * " icon besides the name of the document (tab) won't go away and also when I try to close the document, it still asking me if I eant to save the file or close it even though I just saved the file. This only happens to Illustrator 2020.

Same problem. I get the dialogue box attached. Then when I hit Save it doesn't save or close. Also, when saving the little asterisk in the tab doesn't go away – meaning it hasn't saved. However, when I close the file without saving it actually has saved.
It's also telling me my file has been modified outside of Illustrator nearly every other time I save.

I'm trying to save my work, and while the pop-up box is asking me to save before closing, nothing is actually saving or closing.
