Overwriting PDF-Files does not work anymore with build 24.0.2 ! Till 24.0.1 it works. Pleas fix this. Current Update is a desaster.
Hi All,
We have fixed this issue in 24.0.3 version of Illustrator (MAC only issue). Please update to 24.0.3 if you are encountering this issue. For all the other issues which you are encountering regarding the update or the new document dialog or any other please create another User Voice thread for that issue so that we can track it there itself.
Thanks & Regards,
Illustrator Team

Having this problem with 24.0.2 on High Sierra as well. Illustrator is suddenly worthless. Get it together, Adobe, your quality control is becoming a joke.

Hurry up!!! This is a pain.
We all pay a lot for software, I don’t understand how something that used to work fine just stops!

I noticed the same overwrite issue yesterday after the recent update to illustrator. Since updating my Mac to OS Catalina there have been a myriad of issues using the Adobe CC programs, many are not insurmountable, but do become very annoying over a day of trying to get work out on time. having to resave as a different name, then go in delete the old file and rename the new file as the previous is time consuming and therefore costly. C'mon Adobe guys, your product is awesome, get it sorted

It also happened in save as--> Replace AI File.
It's a horrible bug! -

Illustrator won't overwrite a PDF when I perform "Save As" from an Illustrator or PDF file. Everything appears to work normally, but the file is not overwritten/updated. It doesn't matter what type of PDF preference I use (eg: Illustrator default, PDF/X-1a, etc.)
It seems to work normally if I just save, however.
If I make updates to a file I have to give it a new file name in order for it to actually save, which can be problematic, or I have to save it in a different location.
Anyone else experiencing something similar?
This only started with the latest update - v24.0.2. Everything worked fine until I performed the update.
I am currently still running Mojave 10.14.6.

Been experiencing the same issue for the last 48 hours, only solution is to rename your .pdf to something different each time you want to overwrite, which is not ideal. Awaiting a new update with fix.

Only solution is going back to version 24.0.1 via Creative Cloud App.

When I save a PDF from Illustrator to overwrite an existing PDF Acrobat displays the old version instead of the changes made?

I'm having the same issue and it effects my clients workflow system, I don't want to have to keep saving a new file and them manually replace the old one, how is that progress!!

That is not a solution but a workaround.
I do not want to go and run a command on 200 macs.
also, this is disabling gatekeeper.
Gatekeeper is something like a Antivirus solution... that SHOULD NOT be disabled at all! -

Hello I have Sierra 10.13.6,
I solved the issue in the office where i work with a sudo command very easy : sudo spctl --master-disable
it's something on the privacy setting of the system preferences, is this correct? Here the example.

I just upgraded to AI 2020. When making an edit to a file, I save a working AI file and then a "proof" pdf file that is a smaller file size (I use the "smallest file size" option in the pdf dialog box) so that I can share via email.
The AI file saves the changes perfectly but when I try to then save over the original "proof" pdf file, it does not save the changes. Even the file info in Finder preview does not update.
Anyone having the same issue?
I am using macOS Mojave

Back to 24.0.1 and it works again, so it is definitely a BUG in 24.0.2!

I just noticed this as well. I saved the PDF over the existing and then noticed that the date modified didn't update. I looked at the file and it was not updated. So I saved the PDF elsewhere and shuffled the files around.
