Can't finish previewing. Could not complete the requested operation.
I applied a pattern to a stroke by accident and received this error. I'm using v25.0.1 on a PC with 16 gb RAM and a dedicated graphics card.

I think Adobe is releasing new versions with no bug fixes but to test the patience of their customers. I do development for the Adobe products and it sucks.
I think either shut off or have good developers at your end to really fix these issues.

Graphic designer here. This is NOT fixed. I have gone through two 2017 Macs at work (latest is 2018 MacBook pro) trying to solve this issue and nothing is working. I can not work. Illustrator crashes after a couple of minutes.

I'm also a creative director, working on a solid machine (Mac Pro - 2014)... The latest CC 19 Illustrator crashes almost on daily basis in past few months. I've also uninstalled /reinstalled it, but nothing has helped. I've used Adobe apps for 20 years and I don't remember it being this flaky...
Don't we pay already enough?... Have we to take a second mortgage to get this fixed!??!!!

I'm a creative director by day. My work machine has 9th gen (6-core) Intel processor, 32GB RAM and GeForce RTX 2070. The latest Adobe CC 2019 Illustrator has started to constantly freeze up and crash almost on daily basis in past few months. I've uninstalled and reinstalled quite few times. Nothing has helped. I've used Adobe apps for over 20+ years and I don't remember it being this lame. It's getting freakin' tiresome.

Nothing is fixed ... AI 23.04 under Mojave 10.14.6 and deinstallation and reinstallation of Illustrator with deleting all previous prefs.
Still the same issue, the menu is greyed and no way to use it. I force quiting the prog and restart Illustrator in safe mode, all setups to zero.
It's work so for 1 file and stick again with a second one.
I work with Adobe since 25 years now, and i become nervous. I need to work and I pay the Adobe fee each month !!!!
Please consider our complains !! -

I do not believe this has been fixed. I am using 23.0.3 and having the same issue. It cannot finish preview. Then Everything goes white. My file is now ruined as even opening in older versions of AI it still does not return to the way it should be.

It´s a shame Mr. Ashutosh Chaturvedi, Sr. Quality Engineering Manager. Your beautiful green answer "COMPLETED" was posted in nov 2, 2018. And, after about a year, the crashes keep going on all over the world.

illustrator 23.0.4 on Mojave has got this RAM Crash bug again? Just by opening illustrator and doing nothing, you can watch the GB grow in Activity Monitor until it finally crashes at somewhere around 60 GB.

I get this message daily now and contact adobe every time. each technician does some file deletes and renames files. This issue is not resolved, surely with the amount paid for the software, this should be resolved already?!?!?! so frustrating, I'm loosing clients here because I cannot complete work!

I found this worked for me. I had all the same problems as stated plus really slow type work.
I went in and threw out EVERY pref file for EVERY version of Illustrator I had. It seems legacy pref
files are continued over. Let Illustrator rebuild a new prefs file. Reset all you pallets, etc. It's a pain in the **** but my Illustrator has been flying ever since. I will probably work with Photoshop and In Design also.
I noted where the prefs files came from in BOTH system and User Library. Put in trash (Do Not Empty)
Let Illustrator rebuild my prefs, restarted and when everything worked. emptied the trash. GOOD LUCK! -

I've been having numerous issues with Illustrator 2019 in all of it's iterations. All of the big issues I'm having, which I'm also seeing on forums as marked Completed, are still present in v23.0.3. I cannot get anything done.
Running:
High Sierra 10.13.6
iMac 2017, 3.5 Ghz i5, 32GB
Radeon Pro 575 4GBThis is ridiculous and unacceptable...Come on Adobe!!!

Just had this issue happen on my iMac. Can't even trace more than two lines before it says "cannot finish previewing". I have more than enough Ram, so I don't get it....it worked fine yesterday!

This issue still exists in 23.03 (among many, many others). These latest builds of illustrator are a complete balls up - and do not deserve the costly subscriptions. Have reverted to CC 2017 as that works infinitely better.

Just had this issue occur over the past few days, updated to the latest version tonight (23.0.3), but it's still happening.

Still struggling. Old files won´t open properly, or at all. "Can´t finish previewing" is always on screen. Sudden crashes occur when opening larger files. CPU at full. Fans yelling. Do something or lose my tiny payments for Vectorworks instead. ****** ****.
