I performed the test that Ashutosh suggested, and anecdotally it does seem to have some effect – after half an hour or so it was still OK – certainly not happening instantly like it was before.

Following a suggestion made by Mr. Ashutosh Chaturvedi I made a test running Illustrator while completely disabling Internet Connection (disabling wifi and pulling off network cable), and nope: the bug appears.

I have been working for 30 minutes and then, again, received the “Can’t finish previewing” and an Illustrator crash 1 minute later… :-(

1. Quit AI version 23 if already running
2. Disable internet (e.g. disconnect from wifi or pull the network cable)
3. Relaunch Illustrator and work as you would normally do.
does the error and crash go away after the three steps?

Well I have the same problem. Running on Dell laptop, Windows 10, Core i7, 32 Gbt of Ram, Quadro M2000M grapchics.
I was so looking forward to using the new Gradient tool.... Fix this please, if this isnt a priority, it should be!

I have the same problem. Wow, this is annoying!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but I have the most problems when dealing with "Live" type.
The program is somewhat slow in response to anything dealing with type.
When using outlined type or regular objects, the program is much more responsive.

Illustrator is running out of memory in the newest version. Although I work on files with 2 MB size and have enough RAM (16GB) on my MacBook Pro, Illustrator occasionally comes up with "not enough memory" and prevents me from opening a file

Newcomers, Adobe has emailed me. They are working on fixing this. Just commenting to all the new commenters that have voiced their concerns as well. Looking forward to the coming fix.

Same issue here. Fails to preview and sometimes crashes as well.

Same thing - Mac OS Mojave - iMac Pro 128GB ram - brand new install etc. Illustrator crashes after 15-20min and the same error. Have to quit everything and relaunch AI.

Having the same issue. Just updated to 2019 a couple of days ago. I hope this will be fixed soon.

same to me. german version on windows. cant work anymore....

I uninstalled 2019 and reinstalled 2018. Just cannot work efficiently while having to restart the software all the time. But thank you Kyle for sharing that they're working on it for us!! I'll just wait until they, hopefully, fix the bugs, and then maybe reinstall 2019.

So we will be getting a fix soon. For now, I'm just going to hang tight and keep rapidly saving, quitting, and re-opening Illustrator to work around the issue.
