Artboards & Content are displaced after saving and opening a file
After saving & opening a file with multiple art boards, many of the artboards and/or their content is shifted around the canvas. I already tried all kinds things, even creating a new file and copying everything over. The bug happens again and again – and it's unpredictable, sometimes it's just one element, sometimes it's half of all the content.
Working with Version 29.8.1, the file is in large format mode, Mac OS 25 (latest). Not saving on a cloud synced folder.
When saving the same file into Adobe Cloud, the bug doesn't seem to occur... at least for the last few times I tried. But actually I don't want to save them there.
Also, when saving onto hard drive, sometimes a dialog appears that the file was changed outside of Illustrator (which is not true).
See attached file (blurred): the grey boxes on top come from the artboard on the bottom and the red ones from the artboards below.
This issue has been resolved and the fix is now available in our latest beta version, 30.2.12.
We kindly request you to update and share your feedback.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I would like to add, this issue is happening with me as well with only ONE artboard. It also occurs with files where I have not touched the rulers at all.
It seems to have something to do with the type (at least in my case) as only live type is displaced when reopening. If I outline all type, the file reopens correctly.

This issue is still not fixed and is CRITICALLY URGENT to those affected. On 18 November I was told by the Illustrator support team (on a telephone call) that the issue isn't with Adobe and that the error is because I use Dropbox! Apparently the only way I can be sure the problem won't happen is by using Adobe's own cloud storage - what a total SCAM to get me to sign up for more storage! Come on Adobe, I have been using CC with Dropbox for years and they are an Adobe partner too. This is frankly outrageous and Adobe need to take this problem seriously and sort out this issue urgently. Very disappointed with the approach Adobe are taking which is affecting many professional designers.

EXTREMELY disappointed and upset. My very large file, under DEADLINE I might add has been affected by this bug that I now come to find out has been reported on for over a month! A MONTH Adobe? What is going on. Nov 14th and v30 with no available update is still doing this. We need a STATUS and fix for this NOW. This is ridiculous.

This issue is still NOT fixed in Adobe Illustrator 2026 (v30.0) and Beta. My documents are now broken, and this is a critical problem for my workflow. I can’t continue working because of this bug.

You would have thought the bug would be removed on the latest versions, so as long as you are running the latest version of the software, there should not be a bug....... or am I just being crazy?

It would be helpful if Adobe would clarify, which specific versions contain the bug.

That bug appears to have been fixed in 2025 (29.8.3).

The issue was still occurring yesterday in 30.0 - I have now downloaded the Beta version to try....... The fact that this issue has been getting reported for over 2 months now is simply not good enough.
There should have been a fix long before now. It has been causing chaos in the Studio, time, and money lost.

@monokano I think Akshaya referred to the version after that (30.1). I haven't tried it myself, because I downgraded to the version before the bug for now.

This bug is still occurring in the current latest version 2025 (29.8.2). Since this is a critical and serious bug, it should not be left unaddressed - a bug fix update should be released for 2025 (29) as well.

This bug appears to be avoidable by disabling ‘Save in Background’ in Preferences.

This happens to me if I create more than 1 artboard. So now I am having to do separate files with 1 artboard each so that the problem doesn't happen. Not ideal though.

Same has happened to me, it's so frustrating. Could you please let me know if this issue has been fixed please.

This has been happening randomly for me too. Not all documents but some of them, and for my colleagues too. It's really not ideal as we have to supply files externally and need to ensure they are correct.

When adding a new layout, I moved the layout position, but the graphics did not shift. After saving and reopening the file, some graphics shifted incorrectly.
