1. Exporting SVG 1.2 Tiny gives a metadata / namespaces error

   I use Illustrator CC 2017 21.1.0.
   When exporting an Illustrator document to SVG 1.2 tiny and open in Dreamweaver CC2017 or another editor I receive an error on the Illustrator metadata / namespaces like:

2. ENREGISTREMENT BLOQUÉ à 100% sans qu'il se termine

   Bonjour.
   Actuellement je suis bloqué sur un enregistrement de mon fichier ! Le l'enregistre, le pourcentage augmente et arrivé à 100% plus rien. L'enregistrement ne se termine pas. Et je ne peux rien faire. ça bloque toutes autres actions d'enregistrement. Aucune fenêtre aucun bouton pour arrêter l'enregistrement. Là j'ai 2 solutions bancales pour le sortir de là et éviter de perdre mon travail : copier mes dizaines de plan sur un nouveau fichier et espérer que cela s'enregistre ou dans un désespoir, forcer à quitter le logiciel et espérer que la récupération retrouve mon travail ne sachant pas si je vais perdre ou non les dernières modifications que j'ai réalisé.
   Je précise que c'est pas la première fois que ça arrive. Plus d'une dizaine de cas identiques cette année.

3. Cancelling the Print progress dialog leaves document unsaveable — Cmd+S silently no-ops (Illustrator 30.5.1 / macOS 26)

   Cancelling Illustrator's Print dialog before the print job finishes leaves the
   active document in a partially-locked state ("limbo"): the canvas still responds to
   interaction (you can pan/move the artwork), but File → Save / Cmd+S silently does
   nothing — no save dialog, no write, no error. The document cannot be saved through
   the normal UI and must be recovered through scripting or force-quit + data recovery.

   In the observed case the affected document had never been saved to disk, so all work existed only in memory. A user who trusts Cmd+S (which reports no error) can lose everything if the app is force-quit without a
   scripted-save workaround. The failure is silent, which makes it especially dangerous.

   Adobe Illustrator 2026, version 30.5.1
   macOS 26.5.1 (build 25F80)
   Apple Silicon Mac
   Consistent / 100% via the steps below. Not timing-dependent — cancelling the print progress bar at any point triggers it. Has recurred across multiple sessions.

   Steps to Reproduce
   100% reproducible via the standard print flow — not timing-dependent:
   1. Open a document in Illustrator 2026.
   2. File → Print (or Cmd+P) to open the Print dialog.
   3. Click Print. The print/spooling progress bar begins.
   4. Click Cancel on that progress dialog at any point while the bar is moving (it does not matter how early or late — cancelling at any time triggers it).
   5. Return to the document and attempt to save (Cmd+S) → Save silently does nothing.

   Expected Result
   Cancelling a print job returns the document to a normal editable state. Save works
   normally.

   Actual Result
   - The document enters a "limbo" state.
   - Canvas interaction (panning, moving objects) still works.
   - Cmd+S / File → Save does nothing — no dialog, no save, no error message.
   - The condition does not clear on its own; it persists until the app is restarted.

   Technical observations (captured via CLI on the live, stuck process)

   These strongly suggest the menu-command dispatch is gated by a stale modal-session
   flag left over from the cancelled Print dialog, while the scripting/Apple Event path
   is not gated:

   • The Illustrator process was healthy, not hung — process state S (sleeping/normal), not spinning; UI remained responsive.
   • Apple Events were fully functional — scripted reads of the document returned instantly (name, modified, count of documents all responded).
   • modified of current document returned true (unsaved changes present).
   • Reading file path of current document threw an error (document had no resolvable on-disk path — it had never been saved).
   • Cmd+S silently no-op'd, but a scripted save current document in file <path> as Illustrator succeeded, wrote a valid 10.4 MB PDF-compatible .ai, and flipped modified to false.

   The divergence between "menu Save does nothing" and "scripted Save works" is the key
   diagnostic: the write machinery is intact; only the UI command path is being suppressed.

   Workaround (until fixed)

   Run this in Terminal (adjust the destination path/filename) to rescue the document
   without losing work:

   "Exportar para Telas" não mantém o caminho de destino da pasta de origem do arquivo

   Em versões anteriores do Illustrator (até a 24.1.3), o diálogo "Exportar para Telas" usava automaticamente a pasta do arquivo .ai como destino padrão de exportação, e lembrava o caminho entre sessões. Esse comportamento foi alterado em alguma atualização posterior e, desde então, o caminho de exportação é resetado toda vez que o Illustrator é reiniciado.

   Embora a correção tenha sido anunciada no Beta 29.5.52 (março de 2025), o comportamento ainda não está funcionando de forma consistente na versão de release geral.

   Comportamento esperado: ao reabrir o Illustrator e usar "Exportar para Telas", o caminho de destino deveria ser mantido — preferencialmente o mesmo da última exportação ou, como padrão, a pasta onde o arquivo .ai está salvo.

5. The preview is incorrect because some images are missing

   Ever since at least Illustrator version 29.8.5, I've been having preview issues with linked images. Some images are missing from my preview.

6. Transparency Lost in After Effects When Importing v30 AI Files

   Transparency Information Lost When Importing Illustrator v30 AI Files into After Effects 2026

   Environment:
   - Hardware: MacBook Pro 16-inch (November 2023), Apple M3 Pro, 36GB RAM
   - OS: macOS Sequoia 15.7.4
   - Illustrator version with issue: v30.2.1 (2026)
   - Illustrator version without issue: v28.7.10 (2024)
   - After Effects version: 2026

   When an .ai file saved in Illustrator 2026 (v30) is imported as footage into After Effects 2026, transparency information — including blend modes, opacity settings, and effects such as drop shadows — is lost or ignored. Affected layers render as fully opaque.

   Re-saving the identical artwork in Illustrator 2024 (v28.7.10) and importing that file into the same After Effects project resolves the issue completely.

   This suggests that a change in the .ai file format or internal data structure introduced in v30 is no longer being parsed correctly by After Effects' AI importer.

   Saving from v28.7.10 is a confirmed workaround, but this should not be necessary.

   Is there a known fix? Is this a confirmed bug?

7. Vorschaubilder verschwinden im Bridge

   Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem mit Illustrator (30.2.1) und Bridge (16.02.23) auf einem Windows Rechner mit 64GB Ram, Windows 11 Pro und eine RTX 3060 Ti.

   Wenn ich momentan im Illustrator eine Datei speichere zweig mir Bridge diese Datei nicht mehr korrekt an.

   Beispiel:
   - Normal war die Anzeige in Bridge wie Bild01.jpg
   - die geöffnete Datei im Illustrator wo alles stimmt ist wie Bild02.jpg, alle Verknüpfungen sind intakt
   - ändere ich in der Datei nur das Darum und speichere, ist nun die Anzeige im Bridge wie im Bild03.jpg daher zusammen wie Bild04.jpg

   Öffne ich die Datei im Illustrator ist alles ohne Fehler vorhanden.
   Verknüpfe ich das Bild über das Menü neu und speichere es dann wieder, stimmt die Vorschau im Bridge wieder wie bei Bild01.jpg.

   Schließe ich dann die Datei stimmt die Vorschau im Bridge, wenn ich sie dann wieder öffne stimmt alles.
   Nehme ich irgendeine Änderung vor, Bsp. Text anpassen oder Ebene einmal aus und einblenden und speichere dann wieder normal, ist die Vorschau in Bridge wieder wie bei Bild04.jpg, also defekt.

   Ich muss also in so einem Fall bei Änderungen aktuell vor dem Speichern immer alle Verknüpfungen aktualisieren und dann speichern damit ich im Brigde die richtige Vorschau habe. Hier ist es auch egal ob es eine Verknüpfung mit einem JPG oder PSD ist.

8. UI freezes when clicking Save file with multiple artworks, no recovery files, version 30.0 on Tahoe 26.1

   This new 30.0 update is terrible, my team has lost countless hours!
   As soon as you click save, the UI freezes, and doesn't allow you to save.
   After clicking the task manager in order to restart the app, the file doesn't show up in the recovered files. NOTHING!
   It is the worse version of Illustrator EVER. I was contemplating going back to the LTS version, but we have already done too much work in this newer version, and are certain that when we open those files, in the OLDER (But better) version, there will be issues, we saw it already in a few files, where the file is flat and not editable.. What can we do?

   This new 30.0 update is terrible, my team has lost countless hours!

10. Cloud saving only works after creating a project

    Operating System: Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2 (Build 26200.7171)
    Illustrator Version: 30.0 (64-bit)

    Steps to reproduce:
    When trying to save a new file as a Cloud Document, the “Save” button remains greyed out.
    I am correctly signed in to my Adobe account and can open existing Cloud files without issues.
    However, Illustrator will not allow saving to the Cloud unless I first manually create a new Project folder.

    Expected result:
    Saving directly to “Your Files” in the Creative Cloud should work without having to create a project.

    Actual result:
    No valid Cloud location is detected until a new project is created manually.
    After creating a project, the file can be saved normally.

    Workaround:
    Create a new project folder

    Operating System: Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2 (Build 26200.7171)
    Illustrator Version: 30.0 (64-bit)

11. PDF Export for Screens saving full document even thought multiple files selected

    When you 'Export for Screens' as a range or tick certain artboards to export as PDF. These exported PDFs opens the full document rather than just the selected artboard. This happens when you open an exported PDF artboard in Illustrator 2026, but if you open it in 2025 version it opens as it should.

12. Share for Review links are not working for my stakeholders

    I just updated to v29.8.2 yesterday and now all of my share for review documents cannot be viewed by anyone but me. The links are set to "anyone with this link can comment" but when they try to open the file it says "404 asset not found". I have tried regenerating the link and it did not solve the problem. This is happening with multiple people using mac and windows computers.

13. Stop remembering my last save as file type!!!

    I've used Illustrator for decades, and the only file type that a new document should be saved as is an .AI file. For the love of God, please go back to .AI or allow me to choose .AI as my default file type!!!

14. The vertical text get reversed in an exported PDF

    July 2025 PDF export worked now when I export a PDF if a number is vertical it won't read it correctly for ex. 42 will read it as 24 it only happens with vertical text numbers

15. AI2025 v29.7.1 bug: SVG 1.1 is not accurately rendering

    AI2025 v29.7.1 bug: SVG 1.1 is not accurately rendering vector files. Even upping the decimal places, it's downsampling vectors and oversimplifying more detailed curves. Reverting to SVG 1.0 works fine. Please fix this!

16. Illustrator sometimes stops responding when trying to "save as ..." a recovered file

    Illustrator stops responding when trying to "save as ..." a recovered file, afterwards one of two things happens. Either the application freezes and can only be shut with task manager, or a text box appears saying the printer driver is not compatible and opens the print menu settings

    1. Open illustrator, and textbox appears: "Illustrator just recovered from a crash" etc.
    2. press "ok" to open the document
    3. Document seems to function normally
    4. "Save as" (via file or via keyboard shortcut), destination is local on the computer
    5. Regardless whether it is renamed or not, press "save"

    From here I have had a few different outcomes

    Outcome A
    6. Illustrator looks fine but stops responding when you click
    7. application freezes, loses all interactivity and then needs to be shut down with task manager

    Outcome B
    6. Illustrator stops responding immediately, and after loading for a second, the text box "This printer driver is not supported by illustrator" appears
    7. Press "ok"
    8. standard saving options appear and everything appears to be going smoothly
    9. Then freezes and follows outcome A

    I did eventually managed to save my document with "save" rather than "save as", which followed Outcome B (still complaining about the printer driver which it doesn't usually do) without freezing itself at the end.

17. Save/Export Dialog Fails on macOS 26 Beta — System UI Freezes After Error

    Operating System:
    macOS 26 Beta (Tahoe), latest developer beta as of July 2025
    Mac model: MacBook Pro M2 (2022)

    Adobe Illustrator Version:
    Latest available via Creative Cloud as of July 3, 2025 (v28.x.x)

    Steps to Reproduce the Issue:

    Open Adobe Illustrator.

    Create or open any file.

    Go to File > Save As or File > Export.

    The system attempts to open the save dialog but fails.

    The following error appears:
    “The save file operation failed. The save file operation failed to connect to the open and save panel service.”

    After that, core macOS interface components freeze, including:

    Finder

    The menu bar

    The Dock

    The only way to recover is to open Activity Monitor or run killall Finder from Terminal.

    Expected Result:
    The Save or Export dialog should appear, allowing me to choose a file name and location.

    Actual Result:
    The dialog fails to open, shows an error message, and the macOS UI becomes unresponsive until manually restarted.

    Additional Notes:

    This issue started immediately after installing macOS 26 Beta (Tahoe).

    The same behavior occurs in Adobe Photoshop as well.

    Native macOS apps like Preview or TextEdit do not experience this issue.

    I’ve tested restarting the Mac, reinstalling Illustrator, resetting preferences, and booting in Safe Mode.

    The system process com.apple.appkit.xpc.openAndSavePanelService does not appear to be running when this happens.

18. Open or place PSD file does not keep any editable layers

    I am trying to open a file that I created in PSD that has three layers plus some adjustment layers. Two of these layers are text. Regardless of if I open or place them Illustrator, the file comes in as a single bitmap layer. Open does ask me if I want to keep the layers and text, but it does not work. Place doesn't ask; it just places the image.

19. I have no idea what's going on when I try to save an image as Adobe PDF

    The app does not respond whenever I try to save my work under “Adobe PDF”. This has caused me to lose some of my works. I tried reentering Illustrator multiple times and yet it still happens.

20. Illustrator Fails to Save as PDF or .AI After macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 Update — Skips Artboards, Crashes, and GPU View Greyed Out

    After updating to macOS Sequoia 15.4.1, Adobe Illustrator 29.5 (2025) is experiencing critical issues. When attempting to save as a PDF, it skips artboards, takes an unusually long time to load, and often crashes or shows an “unable to save” error. Saving a copy in .ai format also fails, regardless of location or file setup. Additionally, the “View Using GPU” option is inexplicably greyed out on some files, despite running on compatible hardware. These bugs are severely disrupting workflow and need urgent resolution.
