3D shadows color and opacity change
3D effects give only a black shadow that makes 3D object's color dirty, greyish. And it looks like 90's 3D effect. Possibility to change the shadow color? Or the shadow color bases on the object's colors and thus makes the diffuse.

Add paragraph return (^p) as a special character in Find and Replace window
Find and Replace text has a shortcut popup for a Forced Line Break, ^n, but not the more common simple Paragraph return, ^p.
A Paragraph return is the normal Return button on all keyboards. A forced line break is Shift/Enter.
Find/Replace understands ^n notation for a forced line break, but does not understand ^p notation for a paragraph return.

Changed color rounding
Since the update to Illustrator 24.1 the way color decimals are rounded has changed. So we can't update anymore.
We have lots of documents coming from RGB and must be translated into CMYK. After that we use a huge action to transform these colors. Because of the problem descriped before we have to stay on an old illustrator version to be able our workflow is running correctly.
We hoped that a newer version will solve the problem someday but nothing happend. Do we have to investigate days of work to update our workflow?

A sane way to assign a stroke to have a color not in the default palette
If I want to assign a color from a Library to a Stroke, my only option is to make the object's background color the Library color, and then use the Swap Fill and Stroke button.
The Stroke color menu has lots of weird buttons to import colors that I don't care about. Why not replace those buttons with like a Library Colors button, or a Recent Colors button, or heaven forbid a color dropper?
My first impression of Illustrator was that assigning colors to things is harder than in any other program I have used…

Name a swatch with its colour values
I want to be able to name a swatch with its colour values - just like in InDesign - simply by ticking the checkbox - see the screenshot from InDesign..
Let's say I have an imported document with a lot of RGB colours. The document needs to be converted to CMYK. After conversion all the colours are now CMYK but still have their names in RGB, I don't want this and I don't want to have to re-name each one by typing all the colour values!!
Please give us this same option to re-name a colour with its values,…6 votes -
Add an option to hide the Search/Filter field in Layers
Search/Filter is cool, but some prefer to not have it.
Other panels allow to choose components: we can pick sections to display in the Character panel, we can show or hide the search field in Swatches, etc. However, the panel does not have such an option in its flyout menu.
Please add one!18 votes -
Make New Swatch more intuitive and flexible
When 'None' is selected as current color (or no selection is active), the New Swatch menu item is grayed out, since New Swatch wants to copy the color of the selection.
When having a complex selection (lots of effort sometimes), it is rather dissapointing to not have the possibillity to give it a new color on the fly.
Why not make 'New Swatch' always available?
Intuitively, when no color is active, it should bring up a color selector panel, just like when an existing Swatch is double clicked.
(If you think this is confusing - add a menu item for…

Select same stroke appearance (Weight, Color and Brush type)
I am missing the option to select objects that have the same stroke weight, color and brush type. In a way I would like to have an extra option like "Select same stroke appearance" taking into account color, weight and type of brush.
Currently I only have the option to select same stroke color or stroke weight which is not specific enough for my current working method.
I can not use "Select same appearance" since the fill of these objects are different from each other.

Add a slider to Color Guide panel to change the number of steps
Color Guide panel allows to change the number of steps (4 by default), through Color Guide Options dialog, called through the panel’s flyout menu. Buried rather deeply!
Plus the value is reset every app relaunch, and there is a report about it here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/46283755
What if we could have a slider in this panel, to quickly change the number of steps, up to ~20?

Replace file with same name!
Exporting png or other format, save with exact name, select "replace file", does not replace file but makes NEW file with "artboard" or other additional text. PLEASE when we select "replace", REPLACE the same file with the same name. Have to manually rename over 20 files. We have files that are linked in Indesign and this causes lots of extra time and effort every time there is an edit. Clients have to pay more for extra time, something that should be simple causes a large ripple effect when every other application renames replacement files correctly. PLEASE…

Artboard background color needs to be user-assignable
We need to be able to change artboard background color.
Working on pure white is straining on the eyes and it's rarely appropriate for non-print projects (99% of my work). Having to draw colored rectangles, lock them or put them on separate layers, and then manage them when we resize or duplicate artboards is painful and tedious.
Let's have an icon for it next to the artboard name (in the Artboard palette) where we can choose a swatch (including transparent).
Let's support changing multiple artboard colors at once with multi-selection.
Thank you!

Does this help solve the described concerns?

Replace Image With Symbol
I would like to select any number of images on my document and replace them with a symbol. I would like the symbol to be in the exact same location as the images were and be the exact same size (if the image is clipped by a clipping mask, I would like the symbol to be the size of the clipping mask). I would like the option for the symbol's proportions to be 1) retained and match the height of the images being replaced (in case the image proportions are different), 2) retained and match the width of the…

Fix Find & Replace to keep formating of font being changed
Find & Replace has never worked correctly and still doesnt. If I do a find and replace Illustrator will change the formatting of the text being replaced to the formatting nearest to it, it doesnt keep the formatting of the characters being changed if they are different than the characters either side of it within the same text block.

Replace objects with an object
example:
I have created a circle with text in it, and grouped it all together, however I have a pattern of Circles, and only want some of the circles in the pattern to look like the one I have created and grouped, so I can click the ones I want to replace, and then with a tool, select the group I've created, and it will replace the ones I've selected. Not too sure if this feature exists, though it would be a beneficial tool to have.2 votesThe intended solution for this is to use Global Edit feature.
Copy the object you want to replace with, then select one of many copies you want to replace and use Select > Start Global Edit command.
Using Shift, unmark those copies you don’t want to affect.
Isolate the targeted copy.
Paste the copied object and position it correctly relatively the old object.
Delete the old object.
Exit the isolation and end Global Edit.
It may sound convoluted at first, but once you master the method, you’d be able to easily replace almost anything.
Global Edit has its limitations: it doesn’t work for images, text objects, clipped masks, linked objects, and third-party plugins.

Find approximate/closest Pantone from a process color
If you choose a color from the color picker in Photoshop, it will show you the nearest equivalent in the Pantone library.
3 votesYou can do it for a single color. Open the Recolor Artwork dialog (full one), then limit the color to a desired Pantone palette, by pressing the button at the bottom that says ‘None’ and choosing the book you need.
