Hot fix, please!

When I try to export artworks, usually it opens window where the file location is, now I need to browse through folders to find my file location is. I'm using Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, this not happened in Illustrator 2017

And when? How much longer to wait?

When I try to save a copy it should open on the same folder of the original file.

It doesn't automatically export to where the file is saved Really? Fix Please, why would you change that? at least make it an option in the prefs

Another proof that the coding team does not use Illustrator.

Who (user feedback metrics ?????) is exporting somewhere else than the current folder when creating something ??
Can't you create an option in preferences ? or in the export dialog box (same folder than IA file- specified folder).

At the end of the day, a new exemple of a reduced workflow created by non users and validated by senior quality engineering person not using the very product controled. Congrats Adobe

Please do this for Save as Copy. We need this.

@Ashutosh -- This is a much better way of handling default export destinations. I can't think of a better way of doing it (but there are always other workflows).

This unfortunate change has slowed down my workflow. I have sent the wrong proofs several times to customers and have looked bad because I didn't notice the change in time. I don't understand why this type of change was not made as a preference option instead of just changing it outright. I have to export files on average of 10 -15 times a day and this change is just frustrating. For years I have expected to be able to export into the folder that I opened my document from, now I have to navigate to it each time. Sure, it's a minor inconvenience and in a year or so if this doesn't become an option, I will probably be used to the new way but it does take more time and that time adds up. Why your team would do this and not just make it an option for us to choose is beyond me. Is it that hard to place a option in preferences to change the behavior? Can some UI programmer just write the code and send it to Adobe? I just thought of something, I am going to try to revert to the older version of Illustrator to avoid this change, which me luck!

Yes. Remember last folder location needed across all functions. Very important and big time saver to not have to drill down folders so often.

Relinking images is working good for me on CC2108/Sierra, but have had issues in past when updating multiple instances of the same image and not remembering last folder location.

Forgot to mention - Windows 10 Pro - 64 bit. Latest release of Illustrator CC.

Scenario:
I am working on a new file in AI and have saved it.
I then open a second AI file to maybe grab a component from it.
I then return to the first file, make changes and save.
I then export the first file - typically this should land in the same folder as the AI file. Since the latest update (Oct/Nov), the export location shifts to the path of the second (or latest) image I opened.

This was never a problem with the previous release. Also very annoying as I work on multiple files at a time that are all in different places.

Like most here in the discussion, I'm one of those who is heavily affected by this issue. Standing by for a resolution/app update.

o when you Export As illustrator used to export to where the file location was.
Sine the last 2018 update it exports to last location exported to.

If you change something based on user feedback, you should also consider those who have gotten accustomed to the previous behavior. I'm all for new ways of doing things but maybe Adobe can think of a way to let the user select their preferred setting.

How long will it take for this to be changed back??

My company has hundreds of thousands of files and we forget every time it’s a right pain in the **** sorting it out later that day when we realise we have to re export every job!

It has slowed down my work flow a lot and I need it back the way it was. It should default to the folder where the active file is currently located!

Illustrator 2018 now reverts to the previously saved folder when 'Save as Copy...' is used for saving the file as a PDF, etc. rather than keeping the file in the folder active with the current Illustrator file.

It now goes to the last folder I visited, such as a image folder. Wasting my time

There should be a preference option to select either or. I can see why going back to the last folder may be useful to some, but for someone like me that works on several client jobs a day, it's super frustrating having to go through our network folders to find the client folder each time I go to export a proof. It has slowed down my work flow a lot and I need it back the way it was. Why would you not just make it an option?

Making the export location stick with every file is just that exact behavoir I would expect! This will make things a LOT easier (,again, as they were before). THANX A LOT!
