Color Settings Auto Defaulting
When you open up a file in the new Illustrator 2019 it automatically defaults your document to have "Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0". You can change your color settings to what you want, in my case I use "North American General Purpose 2". But when you click into a different application, ex. Internet, Photoshop, anything; your file changes your color setting back to "Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0". This is extremely frustrating and annoying. Please fix.
We have a fix available and you should not have this issue if you have the following version of these Creative Cloud applications
Please update to:
- Illustrator (23.0.1)
- Photoshop (20.0.1)
- InDesign (14.0.1)
- Bridge (9.0.1)
Please refer below for an issue with recent version 25.2.1 – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/42892902-illustrator-v25-2-1-color-profile-keeps-changing-t

Same here (Mac mini M1), and the workaround with Bridge isn't working, the color settings are reset to "emulate adobe illustrator 6". Is there a (quick) fix planned ?

Well, this is not a forum, but nevertheless...
I solved it this way:
- Save a Color Setting set up and name "the way you want" (I did that in Illustrator)
- Open Bridge. Close all CC apps (except Bridge) and select the Color Settings set up saved before. Choose "Apply", thus synchronizing Color Settings for CC apps.
- Open Illustrator. Verify that "the way you want" color setting is selected. Do the same in Photoshop.Hope this helps. So far to me it is a good patch.

Same issue here. Everytime I switch from Photoshop to Illustrator, the color setting changes to "Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0".

Since 25.2.1 this has been happening again. Not just Illustrator, this is happening across all applications.

In my opinion, Photoshop is to blame for this situation. Switching to Photoshop causes errors in the color profile synchronization system.
If you do not save ICC profiles in Illustrator files, after setting the appropriate profile after close file and open it again, you can work ... until the next time. The files will then not be corrupted. -

Since 25.2.1 (Last update) I am started getting this issue as well and it’s so frustrating. Every time I switched to Photoshop and back to Illustrator, I have to change color settings. It slows my workflow. Please fix asap.

I have the same issue as Perfee, after updating to 25.2.1. Went back several updates, tried emptying my caches like people mentioned in the support community, but the bug remains.
Extremely annoying. Hope this can be fixed rather sooner than later.

Same here. Problem is back!
Illustrator 25.2.1 on Mac switches themself colour profile to Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.
Bridge sets unknown profile at this time.
This happens when you switch from Illustator to Photoshop and back again. Without any information window, the profile changes by itself. -

Hi, 2020 here and I'M STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE. There seems to be no fix at all. I've looked on every thread. My colours are so dull and I've uninstalled the app like 5 times and re-downloaded it - did nothing.

Same problem still occurs in May 2019.
I had FINALLY fixed this issue, then recently updated the CC app to the latests & here we go again.
The same Adobe 6.0 color display error message.
I am fed up with having this issue constantly reoccurring. -

My color on my artboard does not match the color chosen. If i click on the color block and open the pop up scaling window it is proper in the pop up, but on the artboard it is not. For example, I use a pantone 185 red and it looks like Magenta yet prints out 185 red fine. And no it is not my monitor settings. It is only on the artboard itself the color is off. Please help!

This needs sorting, what a ridiculous situation. Problem persists in 23.0.1 and I shouldnt have to reinstall 5 programs to fix it. Poor

Jelly & Anonymous, I would recommend updating everything, not just Illustrator. The comments you posted just mention Illustrator. I would be sure that every CC application including bridge is updated and setup for synchronizing your color settings across all applications. Once I did this, it solved the problem across all of the licensed setups we have. Hope that helps.

This is not fixed in 23.0.1. This issue is still causing me plenty of problems as a pre-press graphics employee. Please release a new update to Illustrator that fixes this issue. Thank you.

This issue is not fixed with Illustrator 23.0.1... because I have the exact same problem ever since I've updated to that version... Any new ideas?
