Rotate dialogue box is now painfully inefficient (CC2019)
Rotate and Scale functions used to work the same, where you could press R+Enter or S+Enter to bring up their respective dialogue boxes, type in a number, and hit Enter. Very fast, very efficient. Now when you call up the Rotate dialogue box, the focus is on this manual angle widget instead of the numeric field. And should you try to use Tab to change the focus to that field you have to hit it 5x.
This used to be extremely efficient, which was great since it's not uncommon to use this feature hundreds of times in a day. It meant that, regardless of where your cursor was, you could quickly and precisely make these changes - with either a known angle or your closest guess and then close in using arrow keys or Shift+arrow keys.
Now performing this same common task means I have three far less efficient options:
1) Always have my Transform palette open and poke a value in there each time (that means having to always click on a specific part of the UI for the second most common transform function).
2)Double-click the Rotate tool in the toolbar, then double-click the numeric field, then use the keyboard to enter/adjust my values (hunting down two specific things to click on in sequence before I can enter my angle value. Hooray!)
3)Hit R+Enter (keyboard), then double-click in the numeric field (mouse), then enter/adjust my angle value (keyboard). There's no way that can possibly sound efficient.
Been using Illustrator for over 20 years. Still love it. Use it almost every day. I'm really hoping this was just an oversight in this latest version. If there is a more efficient way to make these changes in CC2019, I'm all ears. If not, this change stinks.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.2

Somehow the tablet has a larger reach or hotspot that a mouse or touchpad. When i use my wacom tablet the rotation and move gizmo fires much faster than the trackpad. Its almost 3 times the distance when the gizmo hits. WOnder if anything has to do with the size of wacom. Im using an intuos 4 small.

Just got notification there was an Illustrator CC update today, so I did it expecting the ROTATE issue to be finally fixed.
AND IT ISN"T!!! It still has focus on the graphic not input box!
What is going on Adobe? Please fix this ASAP.

I usually hit r, enter, the degrees I want to rotate and enter. A temporary work-around until they fix this is hitting r, enter, tab, Shift+tab to get to the dialog box then the degrees, enter.
Of course the additional steps will be in my muscle memory when they fix which will trip me up again...

Please correct as soon as possible. The purpose of shortcut keys for commonly used transforms is for efficiency. When I want to manually rotate, I can grab the corner of the object, so the focus of the dialogue box on manual rotation is not only redundant, but useless for experienced users.

I agree, it is terribly frustrating that I now have to manually think about and act on something, I previously did on instinct.

This needs to be corrected ASAP, really slows down production art workflow, not everyone is using Illustartor exclusively for design and illustration.

THIS IS HORRIBLE! WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN FIXED YET?? Mind boggling that this most basic function could be so carelessly screwed up.

Yes, before, opening rotate, the field would automatically be highlighted and you just enter the number. Now I have to click the area. Painfully annoying and slows me down.

UGH! How many more annoyed and irritated customers do you have to hear from before you address these issues! Such hubris, Adobe. Any coder will tell you that these are relatively quick fixes, yet 6 months later, you are still dragging your feet!!! How about reimbursing all of us who are monthly subscribers to CC?

Is this issue going to get addressed? Between this and Photoshops change in constrained proportions this last update was designed to just make me crazy

Raghuveer, you say, "We have forwarded this to the engineering team." Are you JUST NOW FORWARDING THIS ISSUE TO YOUR ENGINEERING TEAM, after a build-up of months of requests to fix? Did you have to wait for a magical number of complaints before you stepped forward? Now here's your customer's question: Just because you 'forwarded to your engineering team,' will they actually be affective in addressing it IMMEDIATELY? We all know we can lead the proverbial horse to water but making it drink is quite another scenario. Perhaps a bit of micro-managing and following up on that 'engineering team' to truly make sure they are on this and not watching Netflix on their computers. So horribly unprofessional!

Adding my vote so that this doesn't get stale. Hurry up with this fix, it's obviously driving enough of us crazy. Quick story, Lego produced a police station set and sold 30,000 sets with one brick missing. They received 600 complaints. That's 2% of customers affected actually took the time to complain. So if my math is correct, at that same rate (2%) the 85 votes on here mean that there are probably around 4300 people suffering with this problem and quickly loosing that warm and fuzzy feeling they once had for Adobe.

To be clear, I am neither Anonymous nor the one who is calling Adobe greedy. I work in software and systems development, so I can appreciate there may be any number of factors contributing to the release of a fix for this. But... it is also noteworthy that a formal response was received almost 2.5 months ago that this issue was being forwarded to the engineering team. I'd love to get some more current feedback on where things stand on this issue.
I'm looking at you, Raghuveer Singh. :) -

I was one of the original designers to bring this to Adobe's attention, over 2 months ago. This is a relatively simple re-code. Any one of your staff could have been given this task and the ROTATE and SCALE TOOLS issues could have been resolved. Two months later and you STILL have designers writing in to ask you to please fix. What's wrong with you Adobe? You're quick to take our monthly subscription but you can't even fix a simple feature? GREED! PURE GREED!

When double clicking the Rotate Tool, the text dialogue is no longer automatically highlighted. If I need to rotate an object 22.5°, I have to use the curser to highlight the text, or tab through several area to get to the text box. Previous versions of AI would let you double click the Rotate Tool icon, then type in the number (22.5° in my example), then hit enter.... Very easy and has been that way for a long time.

When you double click the rotate toolbar icon, the rotate tool options pops up. By default the circle with the line pointing at 9:00 is highlighted which you can grab with the mouse and rotate. If the preview button is checked you'll see it move. This being the default action seems not the best UI as I would normally just hover the cursor around the objects corner till I got rotate icon and not go into the tool options.
Preferably, double clicking the icon would auto select the text entry field since the reason I'm double clicking the icon is to quickly enter 90 or 45 or something to do a known degree adjustment. I know I can do a number via the Transform window, its just not always up plus I've used double click on rotate tool for a LONG time.
AT LEAST please fix the fact that to tab from the circle icon to the text field is FIVE hits of the tab button. since its next to the icon ideally it would be a single tap if and not the last one. THANKS!
