"An Unknown Error Has Caused the Operation to Fail" Message When Trying to export TIFF.
iMac running OS X 10.14.2
Illustrator CC 2019Whenever I try to export an artboard as a TIFF using "Export As", I get the ubiquitous, yet EXTREMELY vague error message, "An Unknown Error Has Caused the Operation to Fail" a couple of seconds after Illustrator starts to process the image (progress bars gets about 25% of the way).
Now, the weird part is that I have no problem exporting the same artboard as a PNG or JPG using the same "Export As' option.
And before you ask, yes I uninstalled and then reinstalled Illustrator but it's still having the same…

Blob Brush Crash Problem
I'm using Microsoft Surface Pro, Windows 10, Ram 8GB, processor intel i5, 2.40GHz.
Illustrator CC 23.0.2
When I use Blob Brush with a size set to variate depending on pressure, Illustrator crashes all the time. It's not a heavy file, I'm working on really simple illustrations. I have just updated to the newest version but the problem persists. Any ideas whether the fault is in Illustrator or my machine just can't handle a simple blob brush?4 votes -

Stylus pen
Illustrator Cc2019 crashes when using Lenovo Yoga Surface pen in a Touch mode.
The surface pen is drawing in both Pen and Pencil tools but Illustrator crushes after a minute or two without an option of reporting.
It takes 7/8 file openings to finish a tracing illustration.4 votes -

Scatter Brush - cannot make adjustments
Mac OS 10.14.1 Illustrator 23.0.1 Scatter Brush dialog will not Preview adjustments, will not accept "OK." Must Cancel and lose adjustments to leave dialog.

Pixel number inconsistency
Windows 10? (most recent and just updated yesterday)
Illustrator 22.1 (64bit)When I told Illustrator to create an artboard of 350x350 pixels, I thought it could actually do so. That was the template image size that our web designer propogated across our entire website.
Then I exported 11 images from Illustrator to .png format to re-build one of our webpages. They came out as 1459x1459. Now I will resize them in Microsoft Paint. They'll pixelate and probably look like trash. All because Illustrator can't understand "350 pixels x 350 pixels" on the Create New prompt window.

4 votesThe intended way to ensure your pixel-sized document stays the same size after export is to use the default screen resolution — 72 PPI.
If you set anything else, Illustrator will scale the image accordingly (as if the 'Resample' option in Photoshop is ticked when you resize an image).
There is no way to write a custom resolution AND maintain the desired size at the same time.
The reasoning behind this behaviour is that the resolution value is supposed irrelevant when an image’s intent is Screen or Web. An image can have no resolution value stored in it at all, it’s just an optional coefficient, and then different viewers and editors suppose a value on their own — usually 72 PPI (Mac-style) or 96 PPI (Windows-style).

Text always shows as black
Sometimes, when I apply color to a text box (using the swatches or the eyedropper) the color shown on screen is black even though in the Appearance panel the Fill is the one I applied.

Hi,
The attached screenshot displays the FILL color underneath the CHARACTERS in the APPEARANCE panel therefore any change applied to the FILL will not be displayed, to display it correctly please move the FILL color row on top of the CHARACTER row (Click & Drag) in the Appearance panel.

PNG export broken
I receive an error every time I try to export a PNG from any file. Other export formats work without a problem.
Working on a Macbook Pro with MacOS Mojave running the latest version of Illustrator (updated this morning).

Lock/unlock width and height while scaling
If I have a rectangle for example and I unlock the width and height so that I can change the values separately, If I change the width or height (size) the object transforms proportionally.
Example:
Object 500 H x 500 W px (locked):
If I change H -50px I get 450 H x 450 W px.Problem
Object 500 H x 500 W px (Unlocked):
If I change H -50px I expected to get 450 H x 500 W px.

Illustrator Library Place Copy a Vector Broken
Illustrator 23.0.0.1 (64 bit) - Windows.
I have created some custom icons. Saved them as SVG.
Opened up these SVGs and then added to a Library.
On click place copy on a new art board. The vector is totally corrupt. (see attachment.)
The icons are correctly designed and all lines expanded.
If I place link they appear fine. (obviously I then cannot edit)
If I click edit they appear fine. (Using edit to open then cut and paste at the moment)4 votes -
Distorted dashes at small sizes
OS: Windows 10
Adobe Illustrator 23.0.1When creating dashed lines at small sizes, the lines are distorted. See attached image - weight is .1mm, dash size is .1mm. The line is perfectly straight, the profile is uniform and the "Preserve exact" option is enabled.
The type and amount of distortion seems to vary depending on the line's position in the document as well. Moving the pictured line 2 mm to the right means the distortion is suddenly vertical rather than horizontal.
This is of course not a major issue as long as the illustration is only meant to be viewed…

Memory Leak
Even with nothing open, the memory used for Illustrator keeps climbing exponentially until I get a dialog box up from the operating system telling me that my system is out of memory and to force quit software. It will say Illustrator is using 300 GB of RAM (even though I only have 40GB)

slow choppy zoom on PC
whether I use the zoom tool or key combo/scroll, zoom in or out takes between about a full second to multiple seconds. makes it very hard to control. this seems to happen regardless of the document complexity. Photoshop and XD zoom well.
this PC got a fresh Windows 10 install a month ago, then Illustrator was installed for the first time. this has been an issue since then.
I've tried GPU Performance preference on and off.
I've uninstalled, cleaned, re-installed Illustrator a few times since then.

Rotation too easily happens! Screws up resizing and selecting.
This claims to be answered in an earlier post but it isn't. The only solution is too zoom way in and select or undo the rotation when you notice it. If you have to hit the item in the toolbar each time you make a selection to nullify this it's ridiculous. Totally unprofessional and unproductive. Give us a solution please!! Your programmers have to have realized this by now.

Some Colors are Yellow and Transparent When Exported
Some of my colors (mostly the bluish white and other lighter colors) become yellowish and transparent when exported as an image (I exported it as .tif) or through the Library tab as assets.
Even through Illustrator/InDesign, the print preview shows the wrong color and it prints the wrong color. On InDesign, it looks okay until you put it on Overprint Preview.
The only work around we figured right now is exporting it as a PDF and printing through Adobe Acrobat.
Attached are the exported image and a screenshot of the actual colors.

Excel graph conversation doesn't work on a Mac anymore
When pasting an Excel graph into Illustrator, text is converted to rubbish on a Mac running OS High Sierra and the newest version of Illustrator.
Also, when converting the Excel file to a PDF and opening it in Illustrator, the same thing happens. BUT, when opening the PDF in Acrobat, everything looks just fine.
To make sure it wasn't an Excel bug I saved the file in an older version of Excel – that didn't solve the problem.
I used the same Excel file on a PC and copied it into the Windows-version Illustrator, also converted the file to PDF…4 votes -
Properties panel showing wrong properties and text attributes all the time
Properties panel don't reflect correct properties and font kerning and size were not reflecting in the the properties box. Changing a text box affects another text and not the selected text. An yes, I have the latest version and have replaced preferences many times.
