1. Intel HD Graphics 4600 unsupported video driver

   We've updated to the latest available driver from Intel for this integrated graphics card on our laptop.

   However, Illustrator still warns of incompatibilities every time we launch it. We've set our discrete NVIDIA graphics card as the preferred GPU, and it's listed in the Edit > Preferences > Performance > GPU Details. However, Illustrator still appears to be trying to verify the Intel drivers. There's not an option to disable the onboard graphics chip in our BIOS (MSI laptop). We tried disabling the onboard graphics in Windows Device Manager, but that didn't appear to make any difference. We saw some old references on the internet about deleting a file called baddrivers.txt, but were unable to locate that file. How can we disable the GPU driver check on startup or configure Illustrator to ignore the onboard GPU?

3. Illustrator 2021 Won't Load - I have already contacted Customer Care. They were not able to help.

   I think Adobe needs to realize that it has been isolated to Illustrator v25.0 only. Like everyone else, the latest releases of Photoshop v22.0.1, InDesign v16.0, and Bridge v11.0 all work just fine. Moving down to Illustrator v24.3 seemed to help get everyone back to work. However, since this is a newer version, there is a question on the projects that we have been working on with v25.0 will open up without any hiccups with v24.3. I am testing that right now as I have an iMac running Big Sur with Illustrator v24.3 and have a Macbook Pro running Catalina with Illustrator v25.0. So far I don't have any problems running v25.0 on the Macbook Pro under Catalina. In addition, I am running Extensis Suitcase Fusion v21.2.1 on both machines under both operating systems. I have been in contact with them as they are hoping to release a version that is supported on Big Sur. But when Illustrator v25.0 on Big Sur just bombed on its own, just like everyone else here (about the same time) I was able to somehow get it to load up into Safe Mode (don't ask me how I did it because like everyone else, I have seen Illustrator just sit there on the load screen regardless of it trying to initialize or do one of its many Diagnostic tests). But I was only able to get it to open in Safe Mode a couple of times. When it did, Illustrator identified that it had a problem with the Suitcase Fusion plug-in. I have since disabled the plug-in just for Illustrator through Suitcase Fusion and still, Illustrator will not load, even to a diagnostic state. But Adobe needs to understand that the simultaneous moment that multiple users experienced an abrupt shutdown of Illustrator and it not loading with the acceptable wait time, that there is something much more than "old residual files" present. There shouldn't be any reason that an Adobe employee needs to be inside monkeying around user's machines. Just like when the Create Suite was the latest product line before CC, it needs to provide a Tool Cleaner program to rid of all these "old" files for us now. Or during the large push of CC 2021, the installer should remove all instances of CC 2019 and CC 2020. (I just looked in my Applications Folder and found those folders for those previous releases. I removed them.) Please find a fix ASAP for us that have moved to Big Sur and want to run the latest version of Illustrator beyond v25.0.

   I just tested the process of editing an AI file in Illustrator v25.0 and then opening it up in Illustrator v24.3. There doesn't seem to be any issues with the file opening with a legacy program. I edited the file on my Macbook Pro running Catalina and Illustrator v25.0 and then opened the file on my iMac running Big Sur and Illustrator v24.3. In addition, I have re-installed the Suitcase Fusion plug-in for Illustrator v24.3 and have no issues so far even though the iMac is on Big Sur.

4. All Illustrator workspaces and control area disappears

   All Illustrator tools panel, workspaces, saved workspace windows and control area disappears at startup. A complete reinstall of the program does not fix bug.

5. System Compatibility error

   Since the recent update to version 25.2, when I launch I get an error message saying "System Compatability Report." I clicked on "fix" and followed the instructions, Intel says my drivers are up to date, yet I keep getting the same error. Files error 3 and 4 shows my operating system details.

6. Help Cannot open Illustrator 2021 on MAC w/Catalina OS.

   Help...is anyone else having the issue of Illustrator on a Mac with Catalina OS, getting an error msg. saying I have read-only and need to change preferences to read-write??? I already saw and read thru the fix. I made sure my settings where set to that, they already were and am still gettng this error msg. What is happening?

7. Video driver is not supported

   Windows 10
   Illustrator v 25.2
   Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, Version 20.19.15.5171 (04.11.2020)
   What can I do? I have updated the driver, but the report is still there. Do I get instability and data loss if I suppress this report or deactivate some features in the preferences?

8. Illustrator 25.3.1 Will Not Open

   At least two of the computers in our office are having issues with the latest Illustrator update 25.3.1. The program does not open when selecting a file and performing Open With>Adobe Illustrator 2021. The program does not open from the start menu. The program does not open directly from the Illustrator.exe file. If you try to uninstall Illustrator with Creative Cloud, it tells you that you can't because the program is open. If you go to the Task Manager with less detail, Illustrator does not show open, however, if you select more detail, you may see 14 or more processes for Illustrator currently open. After a lot of investigation by myself and our I.T. Department, we've discovered that if we try to open Illustrator 3 to 4 times it will eventually open but that is a nuisance.

9. Recent file shows correct file but opens up as older version

   Hi there,

   I am using Illustrator 25.3 (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro.

   When I open Illustrator and look into the 'recent' panel I see the document I was working on yesterday with all the changes I made (picture 1), but when I click on it, it opens what seems to be an older version of the document and all the changes I made during the day yesterday just disappear (photo2, note the few pages and other changes not showing).

   I know I saved during the day yesterday (as it took a long time to save every time) and clearly remember saving before I closed Illustrator for the day (as I remember standing at my desk waiting for it to save before I could close the app and shut my computer down).

   Does anyone have a fix and/or explanation for this please?

10. illustrator 2021 not responding

    illustrator 2020 stopped working so i installed 2021 but i still can function anything on it. it is constantly showing not responding. all other adobe apps are working just illustrator is having problem

11. Workspaces don't load when CC updates

    Every time CC updates AI, my custom workspaces don't work. Either:
    a) the toolbar on the right side of the screen doesn't load at all, and going to the Window menu and clicking on the palettes I want shows them checked but they don't show up, or
    b) the right toolbar shows up collapsed, but clicking on the palette's icon does not open it up. I have to expand the entire toolbar to use the palettes.
    This is really annoying, especially since it happens every single time AI updates. Sometimes quitting and reloading AI fixes the problem; other times I have to restart my whole computer. I'm on the clock for clients and I don't have time for this nonsense on the regular. Please fix this issue that's been plaguing me and other users for literal years.

12. Stalling on launch

    Using Windows 10 25.2.3 (64 bit)
    Stalling on start up if opening a single file, opens from desktop shortcut.
    Recommended diagnostic does nothing.

13. "What's new" reminder will not stop appearing every time I start Illustrator.

    the 'see what's new' reminder in the upper right will not stop appearing every time I start Illustrator. Deleting preferences doesn't help. Clicking remind later is getting to be annoying.

17. Operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT] - Crashes and will not open application

    Illustrator 24.2 and 24.2.1

    I've been getting the following error since version 24.2 but was still able to open and do work.

       The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]
    

    Yesterday I chose to update to 2.2.1 thinking it might fix that error. Now I cannot open Illustrator at all. I am not an IT person, but I have already tried the following to fix it but to no avail:

    -Restarting my machine multiple times.
    -Uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator with options
    -Uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator with remove options
    -Going back to an earlier version
    -Allowing the diagnostic tool to run (apparently this option is available in the latest version). But after it ran through 3 or 4 initializations, it crashed as well and now I no longer even get that option.
    -Removed all the old versions in my user profile [user]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe
    -Removed old versions in the Program files Program Files/Adobe/
    -I ran the Adobe Cleaner Tool [just on Illustrator]
    -Uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe CC Cloud Desktop Version
    -I tried to start Illustrator in Win. Safe mode, still crashed.
    -I finally did a system restore that backed it up to version 24.1.3 and am still getting the error message.

    I have spent the last two full days trying to fix this and am at my wits end. I am about to completely uninstall Adobe CC Desktop again using the Adobe Cleaner Tool and start from scratch because I'm already behind on work and have to get something running ASAP.

    Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to fix it?

18. Illustrator crash dialogue on fresh relaunch

    Illustrator 25.2.1

    Illustrator crashed over 5 days ago. Ever since, whether I close Illustrator properly or not, I receive the "Adobe Illustrator quit unexpectedly" dialogue box every time I open the app.

19. Illustrator 2021 won't initialize on Big Sur

    MacOS 11.0.1
    iMac Pro, latest updates of everything. Nothing else running.

    Illustrator forever stuck on "Initializing..."
    Tried uninstalling, including preferences and reinstalling. Won't start.

20. .AI files won't open after latest update (25.2.1)

    Updated to version 25.2.1 a few days ago and now I can't get any .AI files to open without going straight to file>open.

    Getting tired of dealing with a different issue every time this software updates.
