Eyedropper, bounding box, shortcuts don't work, Text tool messed up...
Illustrator CC 23.0.2 - Mac Mojave
1) The eyedropper tool is pretty much useless, because it doesn't work on groups. I need to ungroup everything or make a compound path. This is very annoying.
2) the bounding box sometimes disappears and I cannot bring it back with the usual shortcut, i have to do it manually, sometimes even that doesn't work and I have to restart Illustrator. Also, the bounding box cannot be reset on objects like a perfect square when it's rotated 45 degrees. That means I cannot scale it properly. And also the bounding box always gets stuck on clipping masks, but in the dimensions of the objects inside the mask, so there's a (usually) big bounding box that i cannot deactivate if i click anywhere, it only goes away when i scale the object and then go a step back (not sure if I explained it well)
3) Some shortcuts don't work, like the one for hide/show guides. When I use command + ; it's opening the preferences window instead of showing the guides.
Hiding windows used to be command + T, now that just opens the text options. The shortcuts for showing/ hiding bounding box doesn't always work, just sometimes.4) The text tool is messed up. After a while of working on a text field, the selection doesn't work properly. For example, I have a sentenced highlighted to make it bigger or change the color, but the changes are being applied to a completely different text field that is not even activated. Or the change doesn't show at all. At this point, everything gets screwed up and I have to restart Illustrator.
5) Toolbar is mixed up. (only on Mac Mojave)Tools that I never use are at the top, i can only get the path tool through the dropdown menu. Same goes for Magic Wand. I have to search for tools now...Erase and scissors are in two different places, when they used to be in the same. not sure though if this is a bug or a "great new update", anyways i cannot drag the tools to other positions.
I've had all of these problems (except the ones with text tools) for about a year now, and on an older mac versions too. I use El Capitan at work and Mojave at home, both with newest CC versions, both with similar problems. Only With Mojave I have even more bugs, which is frustrating because I thought the newest mac version would be most compatible.

Inconsistent line thickness with Surface pen + touch zoom
Drawing pressure sensitive lines with the Paintbrush Tool using the Surface pen, on a Surface Pro 4, will result in line thickness inconsistent with the preview shown while drawing. See the attached video for a easy visual reference.
System information:
Surface Pro 4 + Surface pen that comes with the device (not the new one sold separately)
Windows 10 1803 (17134.648)
Illustrator CC 2019 (23.0.2)Steps to reproduce:
- Open Illustrator a Surface Pro device for this test
- Create a new document
- Select the Paintbrush Tool, then select the Touch Calligraphic Brush
- With the Surface pen, draw a line with variable pressure
- Notice the line preview during drawing and the finished line after lifting the pen are identical
- Pinch to zoom on the screen with your fingers, all the way up to 500% so the issue is easily noticeable
- Draw another line with the Surface pen, vary pressure during the drawing
- Notice the line thickness during the preview is rather thin, but once you lift the pen the final line is actually much thicker!
- Switch to the Selection Tool and then switch back to the Paintbrush Tool
- Draw another pressure variable line, thickness will now works as expected
This issue is related to the method of zooming, let's continue from above:
- Create a new document
- Draw a pressure variable line with the pen, thickness works as expected
- Use the zoom dropdown menu at the bottom left of the Illustrator window, set it to 600%
- Draw a pressure variable line with the pen, thickness issue just like with pinch to zoom above
- Switching back and forward between the Selection Tool and Paintbrush Tool makes it works as expected again
Ok, so far so good, the zoom is causing this issue. But there's one more use case that breaks this causality. Let's do it:
- Create a new document
- Draw a pressure variable line with the pen, thickness works as expected
- Zoom in only using the CTRL & + keyboard shortcut instead
- Draw a pressure variable line with the pen, thickness works as expected instead of displaying the bug mentioned in the other situations!
Hope this helps you track the bug and fix it quickly. Any questions just let me know and I'll try to help.

Unwanted spacing when hitting certain keys
Mac OS 10.14.1 running Illustrator 23.0.2
When entering text, certain keys will make the cursor skip around, not allowing the proper formatting of the text.I was trying to type G. Echinulata, and when I got to 'n', the cursor skipped backwards, separating the first and second part of the text. Using an upercase 'N' seems to work as expected.
I've experienced this with lowecase 'n', and 'f'.

copy and paste only works sporadically with Wacom tablet. All AI versions up to CC 23.0.2
From at least version CS6 to CC 23.0.2 copy/paste when using a Wacom tablet only functions some of the time and I can't figure out a pattern to the behaviour. Using a mouse on the same system had no such problems. This is either using shortcut keys or the Edit menu commands. Problem on Win 7 Pro, although I've heard reports of it occurring on other O/S. This may be a partner to the "sticky rotate centre" issue reported elsewhere and which also occurs on my system.

Illustrator won't open and I have to force quit every day 8 t0 10 times
Illustrator won't open- I have to force quit 7 - 10 times before it works. Then when it does , it stops working randomly . I waste hours every day fighting it. Wish I had never upgraded. Seriously looking for another program. I expect more than this from Adobe.

(macOS) file dialog drag/drop not working as expected
When dragging/dropping folders into the save dialog it often doesn't open the dropped folder in the dialog. This leads to slowdowns working with the save dialog.
Also, using the dark mode on macOS the save dialog is the wrong color compared to the rest of the OS.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a file save dialog
- Drag/drop a finder folder into dialog
- Note that nothing happened.
- Drap/drop same folder into dialog (again).
- Note that it maybe worked, maybe it didn't.
- Repeat as necessary until it works.

Pathfinder > Crop Crashes
I'm trying to create a pattern that contains a pattern. Each time I try to crop the pattern using Pathfinder > Crop, Illustrator freezes. If I try to "stop" the process, Illustrator crashes and I have to restart. I saw that someone had reported a similar issue late 2018 and the bug status shows as "completed" with the issue being fixed in 23.0.2. However, I'm running 23.0.2 and I'm experiencing what appears to be the same problem.
I'm running Mac OSx Mojave 10.14. I've experienced this issue on both an iMac and a Macbook Pro. Each has 16GB of RAM. Again, using Illustrator 2019, 23.0.2. - I did not have these problems with Pathfinder > Crop prior to upgrading to Mojave and 23.0.2; I upgraded both at around the same time. However, I've tried reinstalling a previous version of Illustrator, but that didn't fix the problem.
I'm happy to provide the file, but I cannot attach an .ai file. I'm not sure which file type is appropriate.

"Left-click the tool to view a list of all the tools in the tool group." Does not work.
"Left-click the tool to view a list of all the tools in the tool group."
Very simple, right? We've all been able to do it forever.
Well, I don't want to be overly unpleasant about this, but, having finally upgraded from Adobe CS5 to Adobe CC, I find that this most basic of actions is unperformable on my computer. It worked in CS5.
It's the newest version of Mojave, 10.14.3, and the newest version of Illustrator, on account of me having just installed it.

Artboard Navigation control at bottom of screen v 23.0.2 (newest update)
Artboard Navigation control at bottom of screen shows up in the middle of the the screen when I use my larger screen. When I drag the window to my small screen and then back to the large screen, the artboard navigation control is back at the bottom. If I open a new file, the navigation control is back in the middle of the screen. This is version 23.0.2 (dowloaded and installed 3/6/19)

Pathfinder Merge actually Dividing, leaving cut out objects behind
This might be easier to read on the forums where the images are inline with the explanation, but I copy pasted everything here anyway. Here's the thread.
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2601397
This has been a thorn in my side for so long I can no longer ignore it. I don't know when it happened but at some point Illustrator's Merge tool started dividing objects instead of merging them, and leaves behind cut up versions of objects that are behind the visible objects.
MacBook Pro 15 2017
macOS Mojave Version 10.14.2
2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
16GB memory
using Illustrator CC 2019 version 23.0.2I'm pretty sure this still happens on my windows 10 computer at home as well.
Interestingly, if I have only a few objects involved, it merges just fine, but when I'm working on logos that are even minutely complex it pitches a fit. I've expanded appearance, expanded text, expanded strokes, ungrouped objects, and put them all on the same layer and it still doesn't work. Thing is, the objects I'm merging aren't even terribly complex, and as a test I made 15 rectangles of various colors (some the same and some different) and had them overlapping in various ways.
Screen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.06.07 PM.png
Here you see the objects selected so you can see the outlines and how the layers are organized.
Screen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.06.16 PM.pngScreen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.09.32 PM.png
Here's what happens when I try to merge (you can barely see the gaps that show the color behind themScreen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.06.34 PM.png
I moved part of the blue area at the top to show the navy object underneath has not been deleted.
Screen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.14.20 PM.png
So with the objects now properly ruined, here's what the layers look like.
Screen Shot 2019-03-05 at 4.23.59 PM.png
In the old days Merge would merge all like colors that are visible and delete anything behind them. Now it divides and leave colors behind so there's a ton of extra, useless, objects left behind that get in the way when I'm forced to unite the mess together manually afterwards. But even with simple blocks of color, not that many points, no groups, and a mere 15 objects merge won't work.
If anyone has any solutions to this you'd earn my undying gratitude.
Thanks.

1 voteThe objects had the Overprint attribute checked in Attributes panel. With this option on Illustrator leaves fragments unmerged to match the assumed intention behind having Overprint one. This is a normal expected behaviour, but not a transparent one.
If you have this problem, don’t hesitate to leave the comment to force the team to rethink the UX behind this.

Pen tool rapidly changes to selection tool arrow glitch
Pen tool rapidly changes to selection tool arrow when I move the cursor. OS 10.14.3 / Ai CC 23.0.2. On wacom tablet. The pen tool icon changes every micro-second to the selection tool icon and back again. Very hard to work this way. If I more my stylus even a tiny bit it happens. I have the pen tool selected in the toolbox.

SVG export : XML code anomaly
Hi there,
(my specs don't matter for this issue)
I'm using Ai to make .svg files I'll animate live (making it react to midi and sound) using PureData and Processing.
So I have vectorized a picture of stained glasses and it gives me 3655 different path I have to export twice : once in only one .svg file for all paths [globalsvg] and once in one .svg file per path [pathssvg].I'll then use Processing to analyse height, width, viewbox and d-commands in [globalsvg] to finally recreate the entire pattern by placing [pathssvg] on another plan thanks to some code lines. I spare you that part.
Now my problem :
I have compared the d-commands of a pathsvg and the ones of its twin from globalsvg and I'm noticing an offset between some Absolute-Coordinates. All the coordinates that bother me are related to the same value : y coordinate of the Transform-translate parameter.
Besides, you will certainly agree that this transform-translate should not even exist in the first place. Ai just decided to create paths far outside the viewbox to then translate those to their supposed original places. It works for -x axis but not for -y axis and it could really be bothering at some point.
I think it's an unnecessary waste of characters in the XML source-code.
My regards to whoever answer my problem. :)

Units preference not retained on asset panel export
Details of your operating system and version of Adobe Illustrator
Current version of CC on a Microsoft Surface windows 10 proThe steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
It's in both the asset export panel and the export artboard panel. My global preferences are set to inches as well as the originating document.I'm often creating elements then exporting various bits as assets. So the asset export panel is handy for this. I could just copy and past into a new document and "save as pdf". It's just a smoother flow for my brain to use the asset panel if I can work around this little issue.
But when I have a file with units set to inches and I export an asset or artboard as a pdf, when I reopen the pdf in AI, it defaults to points.
When I open the pdf an AI and go to the Units in the doc preferences it does say inches, but the transform panel is displaying points. If I then switch the preferences to points, save that change, and then reopen the units preferences and switch it back to inches, THEN it displays correctly as inches in the transform panel.
Your expected result:
I expect the pdf to retain the units preference set in the doc the asset was exported from, when opened back up in AI.Your actual result
Described above. When I reopen in AI, the asset exported from the asset export panel as a pdf, the units display as points in the transform panel even though the preference is set to inches.Details of your operating system and version of Adobe Illustrator

Opacity Issues when Selecting Whole Layer
In the Layers panel, when you click the Select All circle to the side of the layer, all of the objects on that layer become selected. If you then go to the Properties panel and adjust the opacity of those objects, they appear to become more transparent yet you cannot see through them. ALSO, once you go back to selecting individual objects, or even manually selecting multiple objects, the opacity changes are not indicated in the Properties panel. Rather, they say 100%, even if you've adjusted the opacity by selecting all in the layers panel. I've attached a video for reference.
