Yes, this is a serious problem, ALSO the artboard names do NOT SAVE ANYMORE. Open any AI file, make several artboards, save the file, close it, reopen it , change the names. The next time you open the file all the artboard custom names are GONE. This is horrible when you have 20-50 artboards in a single file that were all perfectly named and now have suddenly been replaced with "artboard 13" "artboard 49"

Another work around is to select "Export for Screens" and to rename the artboard from with that dialog box. Then Cancel the dialog. This does apply the name change.

same here. Illustrator 22.1. This makes exporting artboards a mess!

Second this. Can't edit artboard name without it disappearing, have to re-open file in CC15 version just to easily manage naming in large files. Frustrating.

The workaround on this fix is to edit the name of the artboard first… then it works as intended. But if you work on many files at once and are constantly opening/closing files (like me), this becomes very frustrating.
