The intended way of setting a default font is to edit document profiles. These files are located in folders like 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2023\Support Files\Required\New Document Profiles\[language]\' on Windows and 'Macintosh HD > Applications ▸ Adobe Illustrator 2020 > Support Files > New Document Profiles > [language]' on Macs.
Make a copy of the one you want to use someplace else, open it in Illustrator, make your changes, replace the original and then use it when creating a new file.
There are many tutorials on the web about managing these, like this one: https://productivista.com/new-document-profiles-saves-your-default-settings/
However, this way indeed is not the most discoverable. Please continue to vote and leave comments if you want this to be improved.

The solution to this problem is to disable the dedicated 'Show handles when multiple anchors are selected' option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display.
Usually it is off by default and does not interfere.
However, when it’s enabled, Illustrator displays all handles for all selected art when Group Selection tool is used, and it can lead to accidental handle changes when moving the art.
If you have it disabled but still have problems — please comment back.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.0.2 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Illustrator now displays the appearance of the gradient interactively when you drag it, but only when GPU preview is on.
Make sure it is on in Preferences > Performance > GPU Performance, that you View > Preview on CPU / GPU Preview is correctly toggled, and that you are not using Overprint Preview.
If the issue still persists with all these checked — please comment back.

Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.
Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.
The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman
Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

Adobe. Make It an Experience. An error occurred while saving the comment Joaquim commentedAs you can see in the attached video, the gradient tool changes a completely different graphic with a gradient applied to it, when I try to apply a gradient to another shape. Makes no sense. When restarting Illustrator, it behaves normally again. Must be a bug...

An error occurred while saving the comment Joaquim commentedMake the Smart Guides as reliable as the ones in InDesign!
The Smart Guides have not been working consistently for many years now. I think they work 80% of the time the way I would expect them to, but that's just not good enough for professional work. I've attached an example of an issue I'm constantly having when working with smart guides in Illustrator.Joaquim supported this idea · -

Adobe. Make It an Experience. An error occurred while saving the comment Joaquim commentedThis post has the wrong title. It should read: "Ilustrator needs to be SUPER responsive and snappy in Outline Mode like it was before the MacBook Pro Touch was released".

After updating to the newest version, the saving is pretty slow (3 seconds vs. the previous almost instant saving). What is up with that?
