    The intended way of setting a default font is to edit document profiles. These files are located in folders like 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2023\Support Files\Required\New Document Profiles\[language]\' on Windows and 'Macintosh HD > Applications ▸ Adobe Illustrator 2020 > Support Files > New Document Profiles > [language]' on Macs.

    Make a copy of the one you want to use someplace else, open it in Illustrator, make your changes, replace the original and then use it when creating a new file.

    There are many tutorials on the web about managing these, like this one: https://productivista.com/new-document-profiles-saves-your-default-settings/

    However, this way indeed is not the most discoverable. Please continue to vote and leave comments if you want this to be improved.

    After updating to the newest version, the saving is pretty slow (3 seconds vs. the previous almost instant saving). What is up with that?

    We are unable to reproduce this issue in house.
    Can you help the Illustrator team to isolate this issue further so that we can nail this down?
    If yes, then please let me know the following:
    1)Kindly provide some video , Test file(Via File→Package) & some steps with which you are facing issue and share with us .
    2) Is this file specific or happens with any object in a newly created file also?
    3) Kindly share your preferences folder with us in a zip File
    MAC: /Users//Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings//
    Win: C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings

    Kindly share the requested information at ShareWithAI@adobe.com in a Zip file.

    Kindly clear your preferences by renaming your preference folder “Adobe Illustrator Settings” at above mentioned location and relaunch Adobe Illustrator . Kindly let us know if Adobe Illustrator still…

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.0.2 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

    Illustrator now displays the appearance of the gradient interactively when you drag it, but only when GPU preview is on.

    Make sure it is on in Preferences > Performance > GPU Performance, that you View > Preview on CPU / GPU Preview is correctly toggled, and that you are not using Overprint Preview.


    If the issue still persists with all these checked — please comment back.

    It is not as straightforward as it may sound :) We have been working to take advantage of threads and other hardware such as GPU/Video RAM in places where it can make a higher impact. We are prioritizing areas that are slow instead of making a generic change and destabilizing the product. Product stability is the top priority for us and we have been consistently trying to improve it. We want to move with caution and make changes without compromising on the quality. Hope this helps.

    The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.

    Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.


    The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute.     Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

    Yeah, it's such a hassle having to constantly choose if I want to align to selection or artboard, when this could easily be toggled by holding down the alt key, no?

    As you can see in the attached video, the gradient tool changes a completely different graphic with a gradient applied to it, when I try to apply a gradient to another shape. Makes no sense. When restarting Illustrator, it behaves normally again. Must be a bug...

    Make the Smart Guides as reliable as the ones in InDesign!
    The Smart Guides have not been working consistently for many years now. I think they work 80% of the time the way I would expect them to, but that's just not good enough for professional work. I've attached an example of an issue I'm constantly having when working with smart guides in Illustrator.

    Just updated to 23.0 and getting the same error. Restarting Illustrator is the only fix it seems.

    This post has the wrong title. It should read: "Ilustrator needs to be SUPER responsive and snappy in Outline Mode like it was before the MacBook Pro Touch was released".
