Export JPG/PNG (any format) in same folder of AI file (like before)
Hello, since update (CC 2018 22.0.0), when I do file>export> as jpeg, the file location is the last used and not the same as the AI file just open.
This can seems not important for you, but I do this 40x per day and now it's a waste of time. In CC 2017 this was ok.
I have to browse all the folders on local network .. to find my folder and it's boooooring.
There is no setting for this in preferences.
Thank you for your help.
(we are a infographist team and all complains about this.)

Why is it a beta version AGAIN?! It will be a second time, when the fix is - use the beta version! How much will you pay me for beta testing?! We're already paying a lot for the software, and now we even can't have a normal software?! Whole world is paying to participate in beta testing?!
STOP F***** THINGS UP!
IF SOMETHING WORKS - DON'T FIX IT!!! -

I have the same problem, such a waste of time trying to figure out where it saved a file to... I see the link above " https://adobe.ly/1o2SDsg " but I don't see anything titled "Adobe Illustrator CC 22.0.2" to download. Can you please provide more direction?

I honestly can't believe Adobe ever thought this was a good idea.... Adobe UI/UX design has always been about minimizing redundancy, unnecessary clicks, and BS...yet they go ahead and greenlighht this awful idea.
As a packaging designer who typically has 20+ files open at once with constant updates being applied (this means exporting a JPEG preview for each for non-designers on my team) this is by far the WORST thing to happen. Who wants to navigate folders OVER and OVER and OVER?! If you're in charge of hundreds of packages in various folders, it's an utter waste of time.

Ashutosh, creating a new thread for this particular issue is very deceitful I will be posting this on various forums to show how disrespectful and inconsiderate Adobe employees are, this is a bug and Not a feature.

I am wasting as much as an hour per day when I export a file. I expect the file to export (by default) to the same folder in which the original file is located.
Illustrator always used to work in this common sense way. What happened?
Please get this fixed. My time is money, and I am wasting 40 hours per year due to this bug.
To be clear, this is clearly a bug, not a "feature."

Hi, my entire design team have all struggled to adapt to this, some form of an update would be helpful.
The purpose of the feature requests section is to engage with the community, if the user base is not updated with progress or ETA I wonder whether it is relevant to have this feature section at all.

Hi Ashutosh, what's the story? This is a nightmare for your professional users.

Judging by all the comments here and the lack of any real update on any of the feature requests, I wonder if this will ever be addressed.

Hope there is an update soon. This is really annoying =[
AI file & their export should always stick together... -

Here's a temporary trick until this is fixed.
Before saving a copy, do SAVE AS. Go through the OKs of overwriting until you get the Illustrator Options pop up. This is the window where you can change versions to save as.
Don't hit ok. This will overwrite your file and waste time but still work. Hit ESC instead.
Now when you do SAVE COPY it will be in the correct folder.Still not as fast as before. But a lot faster than finding the right folder every time.

This should be a simple fix, please could someone provide an update.

CHANGE IT BACK!!! That or make it an option. I keep exporting files to the wrong folder because it's exporting to the last folder used vs the folder that the original .ai or .eps file is in. WORST change idea. FIX IT!!!

Agreed. Need this fixed ASAP. Driving me crazy as I do this for various products all day long that are in different folders across the board.

Please bring back this old feature, or at least make it part of the preferences so someone can decide which way works best for their workflow. It is making me NUTS!!!

Illustrator used to automatically export to the same location as the file. After the 2018 update it exports to the last exported location. I'm not sure if this was an intentional change or not. The way it works currently is a workflow speed bump.
