Illustrator not deleting .tmp files after upgrades to Catalina
We've recently started upgrading our users to Catalina, and since then multiple people have reported Illustrator is creating .tmp files that can't be deleted. We've turned off Save in Background, Export in Background, optimize saving for slow networks, and Saving Cloud documents. The issue seems to be intermittent, we haven't been able to find a pattern.
When it makes these files, they can't be deleted in Finder.

Very high latency/lag/delay with basic operations
I am using a wacom cintiq pro 24HD and a thinkpad P1 running the Win10 pro for workstations (2004 build). All my drivers are up to date. I am running the latest build of illustrator (v 24.3).
There's very high lag with basic move / resize operations (1-2 seconds) both with and without using the cintiq. + pen.
With the rotate and reflect tools, the lag is up to 4 minutes if i'm using the wacom, and it's still 1-2s without.
Please help, this has been an issue over the last few releases of illustrator and it doesn't seem to be improving at all.

Toolbar missing on right hand side
My toolbar on the right hand side is missing. The drop down window at the top is also not working, it is stuck on Typography. I can't choose Essentials or reset.
I've got and updated the latest version 24.2.3

Bug with end of line - Convert selected anchor point to smooth
When you have a line in illustrator where you:
Select using the direct selection tool (A)
Convert the point to smooth using (B)
And get the fabulus result (C).
BUT you also end up with point D where the alignment of the line is always vertical.3 votes -
Asset export password bug 24.2.3

If I export artboards to pdf using the asset export window - each file will be password protected without me specifying it.This only happens if the last pdf I saved manualy (using save as) was password protected. Asset export will use the same password that I entered for this file.
This would be a nice feature if it was an option you could select or de select, but not when it happens without informing me.
The only workaround I know of, is to save a dummy pdf with the correct settings before using the asset export, needles to say this is a damper on workflow efficency.
The presets used does not have password protection enabled. I am reasonably sure you can't put passwords in the presets actually. I tried now, and the password protection option was not enabled when I applied the preset.

Expanding simple paths autogenerates dozens of unnecessary Bezier points
Drawing 2 overlapping shapes or paths (or shapes expanded from paths) could once be reliably split/trimmed/etc. cleanly using Pathfinder tools.
Currently, doing so autogenerates dozens of unnecessary Bezier points. This can be cleaned up using the Smooth tool, but becomes a tedious process, especially given that the same cleaned shape will behave the same way if Pathfinder is used again.
This is a critical part of my workflow that's become substantially disrupted by whatever change was made under the hood in the past 6 years.
My hope is that with the change to other drawing tools, this is a preference I'm simply not seeing that can be changed.

GPU Performance is deeply broken - UI overlay refresh issue
Within about 20-30 min of starting illustrator with GPU Performance enabled, everything goes haywire.
It seems to be an issue with UI overlays such as art board bounding boxes and shape paths/points. As you pan about or adjust a shape, it seems that old overlays are not disposed and new overlays are just drawn on top resulting in layers and layers of overlays. The overlays are cleared if you zoom but when you start to pan or manipulate shapes again, the overlays continue to populate on screen.
Images attached should illustrate the issue better then I can describe it. What you are seeing is a single shape selected and the resulting craziness when you pan or manipulate that shape.
The only fix is to disable GPU performance or restart the software.
I'm using a Nvidia RTX 2080 and also have the Intel built in graphics for my 9900k enabled.
I'm at a loss. Illustrator just isn't a professional tool I can rely on anymore. Performance without GPU enabled is unacceptable (1-2 second delays upon zoom or shape manipulation) but the program is just plain broken when I enable GPU performance. Working actively to make Sketch my illustration tool even though I've been PC based for the last 4 years.
I know the devs are working hard but management needs to put more resources behind fixing illustrator.
PS uservoice crazy buggy when using firefox. Couldn't post so had to switch to chromium based Edge.

When creating new document in 24.2, two artboards are created
Creating new document. Two artboards appear, even though I only requested one. I also now have "video safe areas" showing in default and can't get them to not show upon setting up new document.

Crash on Quit
Illustrator crashes on quit 4 out of 5 times on my Mac and has for many months and builds. Crash on quit wouldn't be so bad if Illustrator didn't save so many interface and plugin settings on quit. The main crash indicator is below and full log is attached. Currently running illustrator 24.2.3, macOS Catalina 10.15.6. 2019 16" MacBook Pro Radeon Pro 5500M.

Individual anchor points fail to move with direct selection tool, and cannot add, delete or modify anchor points.
Individual anchor points fail to move with direct selection tool, and cannot add, delete or modify anchor points. It happens only after a period of time working in a file. If I cut and paste the shape, the ability to manipulate the anchors returns for a time. If I close and reopen the file, the same is true. Working in the print industry, this is a big waste of time dealing with this bug. Happening on all systems in the department. Also just updated to 24.2.3, no change.

Ui disappeared after update
After the most recent update, it looks like most of the ui has disappeared. Switching to EssentiaIs didn't fix it. I can still add windows (see attached)

Change Illustrator paste offset distance to closer to cursor inside of viewing area
Illustrator often pastes objects randomly outside of my viewing area, and I have to zoom out and scroll over to get it. I want to change the offset distance so it pastes inside my view area, not outside of it. OR, make it paste near where the cursor is, not way off somewhere.

"New..." Window won't pop up after recent update
When you click 'new...' to start a new file... nothing happens. The window should pop up.

Simplify Path flags points incorrectly as smooth
When using Simplify... on a path with several corner points, the resulting simplified path will have several of its corner points flagged as "smooth". As soon as you try to move one of the tangents of the incorrectly flagged corner point, the opposite tangent will snap into a colinear position.

Run Illustrator 24.2.1
Type "AU" and choose the Daikon VF font
In the property bar, click the Variable Font button and move the weight slider between the extreme locations. Observe how the top of "U" "wiggles" (jumps up and down). This is shown in videos/DaikonVF-Illustrator-24.2.1,.mp4
The same problem occurs in InDesign 15.1.1
The same problem occurs in DTL OTmaster 7.9 and in FontView 2019 (an open source app built from https://github.com/googlefonts/fontview ) — both apps use older versions of the FreeType library.
The problem no longer occurs in FontView 2020 (which I’ve rebuilt with newest FreeType). I’m including both the 2019 and 2020 version of FontView in the ZIP.
The problem also does not occur in Chrome 83 (which I think uses FreeType for VF), nor it occurs in Safari 13.1.2. Videos are included in the "video" folder.
So it seems that it’s a bug in FreeType which was fixed by the FreeType developers. If Illustrator and InDesign use FreeType for VF, then Adobe should update FreeType to the newest version

Area type jumping around when moved
When area type is grouped with a rectangle and moved by dragging the area type jumps away from the rectangle

Type on path side brackets shrink after the object gets resized, until moved
With a large text placed on a curve, every time you move any bracket they become very small. If you move the text everything goes back to normal until you touch the anchors again.

Text Cursor in Medium Light mode is invisible
The text cursor and the click+drag selection box are the same color as the background outside of an artboard if the User Interface is set to Medium Light mode. They are completely invisible.
