Problems with Illustrator crashing when printing ink separations as a PDF
I'm having problems with Illustrator crashing when printing ink separations as a PDF. I didn't have the issue before, but now I am. Thankfully I'm able to print my separations to the RIP just fine, so work can progress. However when I try to print separations as a PDF to look them over before sending to the rip, the program freezes and eventually crashes. Does anyone know why this happens and how it can be resolved?

AI 2019 is not using Intel UHD 630 for HW acceleration
We are using AI 2019 or multiple devices, two of them are Mac Mini 2018s with intel 6-core core i5/i7 and UHD 630. One of them has eGPU RX 580 8GB. While AI recognizes GPUs on both Minis, it shows UHD 630 on the one without eGPU and RX 580 on the one with eGPU, it does not seem to use the UHD 630. I tried to use multiple kinds of hardware monitoring software, but the UHD 630 is not being used at all and the performance is terrible. While RX 580 on the other mac is heavily utilized, often…

Rasterize - Preserve Spot Color Bug
When rastering complex designs for print output, the default is "preserve spot color". I rasterize images and print a pdf file for use in rip software. If I leave "preserve spot color" selected I get a pdf file that is blank, if I turn it off and rasterize, I get the correct PDF file. This is new, as I have been doing this for many years now with no issues. I do believe in the past that check box has been left unchecked by default, but remains sticky.

script cannot be uploaded
Download the script of random swatch fill from http://vectorboom.com/load/freebies/freescripts/randomswatchesfill/22-1-0-167
Opened my illustrator CC2019>File>Scripts>Other Scripts, chose the downloaded file and pressed open, nothing happened.
Tried drag the script file directly into the folder of the software, this time script showing when I opened the script panel, but still no effect applied when I clicked it.

Extreme performance issues (AKA the dreaded color wheel) when trying to type in AI 23.0.2.
I get the color wheel with anything text-related. From basic typing to simply deleting a letter or space. Haven't found any way around the issue. I design a ton of infographics and this is seriously adding unnecessary time to my projects.
Here's my system info

Symbols | Mapping stroke to 3D-Model will distort stroke
Hi together,
recently I came accross a mapping bug with a stroke ( width 0.2 Pt ) applied to a waving flag shape used in a symbol that was mapped to a 3D model.
All details can be found at Adobe Illustrator User Forum here:
Symbols | Mapping stroke to 3D-Model will distort stroke
Laubender Mar 21, 2019
https://forums.adobe.com/message/10989571#10989571Workarounds like expanding the stroke and working with an extra path element stacked behind the flag shape did not help.
The only workaround that will help is rendering the elements to an image and implement the placed and not linked image…

saving colors to adobe is disabled please contact your IT administrator
Illustrator 23.0.2 (64bit) and Windows 10 Versions 1809 OS Build 17763.379
This has happened numerous times over the past few months.
I try to create a new custom Adobe Color Theme in Illustrator. I am not able to do so and am given the error message:
"saving colors to adobe is disabled please contact your IT administrator"
I have tried restarting the program and signing out and signing back into my Adobe Creative Cloud but the problem remains.
Hope that helps - looking forward to a fix.

Extended properties panel inconsistent with InDesign
Not so much a bug, perhaps a feature request but yet more evidence of the various dev teams going off in their own directions - like the Photoshop's inexplicable rationale for switch the default behaviour of proportional scaling ... ahem, I digress.
Please would you consider implementing the properties panel behaviour from InDesign? By this I am specifically referring to the extension of the properties panel behaviour when selecting the 'more options/fewer options' ellipses.
The InDesign implementation expands the existing sub-panel to include the additional options which are not normally visible.
The Illustrator implementation is less elegant by simply repeating…

rtf
Currently cannot import advanced RTF documents with Adobe Illustrator. Common RTF file format options like Tables, Colored Backgrounds, and embedded Images fail to be pulled into Adobe Illustrator. Instead the application omits these things.
Cannot attach an example file.

Pasted shapes from Illustrator turn to graphics in Indesign
You cannot cut and past even a simple vector shape from the very latest Illustrator CC into the very latest Indesign CC without the shape being turned into a graphic in Indesign. I back installed to the last versions for both programs and it is work again. I have this exact setup at home (Mojave) and it work perfectly but at work (High Sierra) I had upgraded to the latest of both programs and hence the issue.
What should happen is the shape from illustrator remains an editable vector in indesign.
I experienced this today (19 March 2019)

Cannot close main application window with keyboard shortcut
When there are no documents open, it's apparently not possible to close the application window from the keyboard (e.g. with the traditional shortcut Cmd+W). The Close option is disabled in the File menu.
2 votesHi Kit,
Cmd+W is used to close the documents, if you want to close the application, please use Cmd+Q
Thanks

Error: "Unable to export at this resolution" for jpeg at 300ppi
For larger artboards (6500 square), I'm trying to export them at 300ppi jpegs for print (as requested by the printer). Every time I try to export at 300ppi, I get the message "unable to export at this resolution, please lower the resolution and try again."
I've been informed of the Photoshop workaround, but we should be able to save vector files especially out as high res jpeg's straight from Illustrator!

White bars over the screen when turning Overprint Preview off?
Hi
Been noticing a bug where I get white bars over my screen as I scroll – seems to happen mainly if I come out of Overprint Preview. If I float my tabs to windows or switch Overprint preview back on it cures it, but obviously this isn't actually a fix and is pretty annoying as it happens so often.
Can anyone suggest a more permanent fix please?
Thanks
Ben

Anchor Point tool doesn’t reshape straight segments
Anchor point tool does not allow me to bend the straight line by dragging the path to convert it to curve. is this a bug?
2 votesDirect Selection tool won’t reshape straight segments but move them, but Anchor Point Tool should work on these.
Can you recheck this, please?

SVG import - duplicate layer names erased
In Illustrator CC 2019 (v23.0.2), some of the layer names are stripped during SVG import. This is not an issue in CC 2018 (v22.0.0).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create an SVG file with two layers with the same ID attribute
2. Open in Illustrator CC 2019
3. One of layer names will be blankThe attached file shows the layer names in CC 2019 when opening the SVG below
<svg>
<rect id="LayerName1" x="0" y="0" width="237.6" height="3.2" fill="rgb(0, 0, 0)" fill-opacity=" 0"></rect>
<rect id="LayerName1" x="0" y="0" width="237.6" height="3.2" fill="rgb(0, 0, 0)" fill-opacity=" 0"></rect>

Illustrator and InDesign take forever to load
Since 'upgrading' to CC2019, it takes about 5-8 minutes for Illustrator to open after the splash screen appears, during which time the task manager shows it using 0.8MB RAM and 0% CPU. InDesign won't even show the splash screen until after Illustrator has opened, then it takes a few minutes after the process appears, using very little in the way of resources. The total system usage at this time, for all applications, is between 8 and 34% RAM and up to about 25% CPU. Older versions did not have this problem. I have this problem on multiple systems, the weakest…
