Illustrator 2018 Crashes
I have Surface Studio, 32 Gig, Windows 10. Today I installed the CC Updates and now Illustrator crashes every 2 or 3 minutes. I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled it, but the crashes continue. Finally in desperation I uninstalled Illustrator 2018 and reinstalled Illustrator 2017. At least now Illustrator is stable.
I sure would like to know what to do to fix the problem. You know it wouldn't be a bad idea if one could reach support with install problems.
Please get in touch with us at sharewithai@adobe.com or any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Please give a reference to this post so that we can identify you.
Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.
Warm Regards,
Ashutosh Chaturvedi | Sr. Quality Engineering Manager – Illustrator

32 GB of RAM shouldn't be choking on a 120 MB file. 120 MB is nothing.

I'm starting to have issues opening Illustrator files. I have CC 2018. When I try to open a file from Finder, it won't open and if I try to open it through Illustrator, I get the spinning rainbow wheel and it is unresponsive. I have a MacBook Pro. It's seems as if many people are having issues with this. I hope it gets resolved quickly. I use Illustrator regularly. It costs too much to have unresolved problems.

Same on mac OSX high sierra. Same for photoshop. Both are ridiculously unstable. I'll try installing illustrator 2017 as well. (It's a pity we have to pay every month for "cloud versions" that turn out to be... well: ****)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
2,6 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris 1536 MBThese specs should in my opinion be more than enough to run drawing tools.

Switching tools, like pressing V or P can cause it to crash sometimes. Really getting annoying.
This is the last year of subscription for me. Switching to Affinity. -

installed, freezes on attempts to open Adobe Illustrator CC 2018. I did complete uninstall, ran the cleaner tool, restarted, complete reinstall. STILL freezes on initializing and FAILS to open.

My illustrator started freezing on opening this morning (9 March 2018).
Windows 10, i5 32Gigs Ram.
So I uninstalled it and now it keeps hanging on the install through the Creative Cloud app. And I have crucial deadlines today! Joy!

I can't believe I'm paying for this to happen!

Maybe it is generic, apparently. Same thing has started happening to me, too. The crash actually freezes my Mac, and having to reboot is starting to get a bit old. Fast.
I can hear my fusion drive whirring louder and louder when it locks, so it may be a memory error. I've clean reinstalled both Illustrator AND High Sierra in an attempt to fix it, but no dice.

Since Friday of last week, Illustrator 2018 CC crashes shortly after I open it. I have rebooted my iMac (21.5", late 2013) and Illustrator still crashes. I need this for work. Help!

Illustrator 2018 (v22.0.1) crashes so often to be useless. So frustrated. It just hangs and then I stare at the rainbow “beachball of death!”
Isn't there a preferences file I can delete? Or some suggested tip to try??

I am having the same issue and only in Illustrator. It crashes for no reason whatsoever – even when no fonts are being used and the file isn't really very layer or 'content' heavy.
Has anyone got a universal solution yet?

The new update crashes 100% for me as well. Windows Surface Book, but only when I'm in "Touch" mode.
Seems to work fine on my Mac Book Pro -

Guys,
“after several tries, I finally found the problem. Fonts...”
could you please specify - what about Typekit fonts that are “owned” and downloaded via CC? That’s where I’ve been having problems recently. -

after several tries, I finally found the problem. Fonts not recognized by Adobe crashed the file. You need fonts that you own, otherwise it crashes.

Ai is Crashing frequently post recent update while on using Pan or Zoom tool app gets stuck and closes without any warning.
Often while changing the outline color, i get an error report which says "Unable to preview..... Insufficient memory".
Pls fix, its embarrassing to keep on repeating the same work again and again.

Illustrator hangs constantly after a while, like 20 minutes. It's laggy, slow and feels like I'm working with software which is ancient. It's hard to accept it. Really considering to switch to other software suites. I'm working on an I7 5930, 32gB Ram, M2 ssd's and a GTX1080. Adobe software feels laggy while other software feels crispy and smooth. Other users are complaining about it as well...Adobe, you're gonna lose customers, you want so much but make the essential and primary software just workable. Unacceptable.
