Moving objects - error message "can't move the object"
I'm working with vectors and type. Since the update to CC2018, at random moments and in multiple files, I'll select a vector object and select some text, then try to move them, and I'll receive the error message "Can't move the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too large". The problem is going to force me to revert back to the 2017 version of Illustrator - please make sure this is fixed ASAP. See attached screen grab.
We have tried to fix the issue in the current release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in the update.
Warm Regards,

PS: We are only referring to the issue that got introduced in CC 2018. As I can see there were few workflows that were existing even in older releases. Please log a separate request for it so that we all can track it better

I had something (a shape to wrap text around) that was sitting partially outside of the artboard bounds and when I removed this, I could rearrange my artboards

Just updated to CC2018 and same issue. This is a huge problem, something I do about 1000 times a day. Needs to be fixed. Can't work efficiently if I cannot select all and move items. HELP please fix this!

Hey guys, I had the same issue. I deleted all my guides and still it didn't work.
A lot of times I don't create separate layers for my art boards and work off the same 'Layer 1'. Since it's saying it's a size issue I thought that there might be too much information in the one layer. So I moved all the artwork from one artboard and popped it into a new layer... and it worked.
So yeah if you create multiple artboards and work from the one layer, try moving each artboard to it's own layer.
Cheers,

I had this issue, and fixed it by ungrouping the object. The objects were 2mm H when ungrouped, but 5779.558 mm H when grouped with a guide. Bloody guides in a group!

Hi, just experienced this issue as well. Opened a file on my laptop running AI Version 21.1.0 and could duplicate the Artboards. But opening the file on my desktop running AI 22.0.1 ran into a problem and I got the error message 'Can't move the objects. The command was cancelled.'
I don't have any guides and just need to duplicate the artboard which has numerous multiple layers and objects inside. Strange that is seems to be working on one version of AI but not the other? Reading through all the comments below and have tried the guides/bounding boxes/transform but none of these work. Any feedback or fixes welcome!

I have been running into this issue a lot as well... and it hasn't been due to guides - There is definitely a bug somewhere. One work around I have found is to use the "Transform" Panel and manually type in the location coordinate where I want the object placed and/or resized. It's not as efficient as clicking & dragging, but may provide a work around for some of you until Adobe issues a fix for it.

It's the guides in the document that are causing this problem. Show all guides and delete them all or move them to a separate layer and lock them there. I did this and it immediately fixed the issue.

Hi all,
We are working on it. Any object with width or height equal to or greater than 16383 pt , on moving with keyboard arrow keys or mouse, throws string "Can't move the objects. The requested transformation would make the objects too large".
We welcome, if you can provide some set of actions and/or the file, with which you are getting issue.
We have also sent individual mails to all the participants, who commented in this bug. Also, please let us know if you are getting some different string appended with "Can't move the objects", while drawing within canvas area.
Note:
If you are moving objects ( or the group of objects) away the canvas area, please ensure that you don't have guides present in the group , or any hidden object that is being moved away the canvas while transformation.
It will throw string "Can't move the string. The requested transformation would make some objects fall completely off the drawing area". This will be expected.Regards

Press "align to art pixel creation and transformation" button. Upper right. Looks like 3 blocks on top right. Click on that move the guides around and then turn it off. Smart guide is buggy. But at least you can move it now.

I'm having the same problem, and I don't have any guides to delete from my file, but @Baron Miller's workaround (changing the x y position numerically from the transformation panel) allowed me to move the object normally again.

Same problem here. Very frustrating. I see problem was first reported in Nov. 2017. Any progress on a fix, Adobe?
