LOCAL file saving and opening is extremely slow when connected to slow external server or VPN.
Even though I only work on my local drive, opening or saving a simple document takes up to 2 minutes when I'm connected to a slow VPN connection server. Note: I don't open/save through the VPN, I only opens and saves from my local drive.
The second I close the slow VPN connection, Illustrator works like normal and saves the same file in <3 seconds.
So -- What is Illustrator doing accessing that VPN connection when everything it needs is on the local disk?
This is not an issue with Photoshop and Indesign.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

I have similar problems in the version of illustrator 25.2.1. Ai file / approx 9.8MB / opens over 10 minutes !. When I disconnect the internet, the same file opens in less than 10sec / including illustreator start /. Disabling antivirus and Windows Defender doesn't help. What should I do ? it is impossible to work like this?

I cannot use Illustrator 2019. What can I do ?

Ran update this morning 09.19.2019 to 23.0.6 (Mac) and this issues has been resolved on my Mac.

2. How were you connected to the internet? LAN **Edit-Just to note that I don't even have my Wi-Fi on.

4. Version of Illustrator you are working on? 23.0.4It is a perplexing problem. I thought I had the issue resolved connecting to local shares using the IP Number vs the Domain Name. Now the issue seems to have reversed and works better using the Domain Name.

No, just connected to the VPN. Not doing anything across it.
How were you connected to the internet? WIFI or through LAN

I can't understand why it goes slow when connected to VPN. Is Illustrator constantly connecting for some reason. I've also noticed it runs slowly not on VPN sometimes. Everyone in the office complains of the same thing. It'll go slow for half an hour randomly and then work normally again. It's like it's connecting to something.
Does Illustrator have anything that needs an active internet connection to work? None of the other CC applications seem to have this issue - just Illustrator.
Anish, What does it mean that the "issue has been added tot the backlog" exactly? When can users expect a fix to this? It seems the problem has been going on quite a while, and to say this is inconvenient for remote workers, is an understatement. Please raise this issue to a higher level of importance so that it gets fixed sooner rather than later.

I am also having the same problem. If connected to our company VPN, doing anything in Illustrator is very slow and keeps crashing Illustrator. This is when doing anything on the local drive, not the VPN, just connected to it. Quitting the VPN then makes Illustrator work like normal. We have 3-4 different Macs that have the same problem. Running Mojave and Illustrator 23.0.3.

I'm having similar problems. Illustrator and browser (Firefox) constantly crashing. I started having issues after starting to work from home connecting to a remote server using a VPN. I work/save locally but upload to server when done. I'm running Mojave and *********** 22.1. I thought it was an **********/Mojave compatibily issue but maybe the remote server connection is causing the problem. Any insight/info or FIX for this yet?

I've tinkered and tinkered with every setting I can think of and no matter what I do when I mount a network drive to my desktop Illustrator goes to a crawl when opening and saving the simplest of files. It makes no difference if these files are located on the share or my desktop. But yeah, it's all our problems...couldn't possible be Illustrator even tho every other app works just fine.
removed mounted servers and the issue was a goner. can't work like this mate please fix
I have mac (fully upgraded as of 2/13/19) and parallels 13. I had a windows update for my parallels and after I ran that and closed and reopened illustrator (fully upgraded as of 2/13/19) I no longer had the slow save and open issue. Don't know if that is a coincidence or not, but I thought I'd share.
I work out of a large shared server and its never been slow like this until the recent update. Its really hindering my work.

OMG that's the worst support ever. But he doesn't seem to understand that this happens every time Illustrator accesses Finder, even though it is only using local files.
All the whitelisting nonsense may be true for working with network files, but that cannot be true for opening or saving a file on your own hard drive.
And why is it only Illustrator acting up, not ANY other Adobe software???
Here is my conversation about this to Adobe in 2016. I think it is BS because it only affects Illustrator.

Abhishek: It is an issue with VPN software and setitings, once the mentioned URLs are whitlisted then it will work for you.

Abhishek: Matt, you have to understand this, however you are connected to Internet that doesn't matter via VPN or with VPN. So Internet connection is active and it will work but there is no gurantee for the same.

Connected to a VPN Illustrator slows down to a crawl.
I'm hoping you found an answer to this because I've just run in to this problem. I need to stay connected to my VPN to keep my images placed so I have an idea of what I'm doing.
Any solutions or workarounds?
