Illustrator CC 2019 is very slow and laggy
I'm using a Mac OS 10.13 Intel Core i7 16 GB. Ever since I updated to the CC 2019, illustrator became laggy and slow. The other adobe apps worked fine after the update. I saw here that I should try turning the dictation off but that didn't help.
Everything in illustrator is slow now. And if I use the blend tool a lot in one document the eyedropper option in the gradient window becomes unavailable. Everything even if it's as simple as moving from one art board to the next or zooming in/out is lagging

23.0.3 is a slug. Loaded MacMini with Huge 8TB external drive and BlackMagic GPU (currently off, because it didn't matter). Finally got PS to open fully, so that's a plus, but wth? PS was a flat black screen with nothing. Quit several times and now I just open from adobe infinity cloud... apparently it's opening older version or? But trying to use ai for last few weeks is freaking nightmare; waiting forever to do anything/ claim a tool. Won't let go of layer or unclicking a layer and it unclicks all layers as I move cursor up the screen. Won't release. Won't release selection either. Won't allow me to open windows to add a tools window... it's freaking me out. already complained on forum.

Turning off dictation on my Mac made it work normal. Crazy but that worked for me. It should not matter but something in Illustrator and Dictation cross to make illustrator horribly slow.

Anyone having this issue, you can roll back to 2018 via creative cloud. This currently is the only fix.

Still Lagging mouse clicks not fully responding. Feels like a bloated Online software package that can't get out of its own way. This is never going to be usable as an online application and respond like a local app without removing the lag and the issues with the mouse not clicking when you click the mouse. Still unusable compared to the local app it used to be.

Hi everyone! I kept searching to see if anyone else had an update - I found this on the Adobe forums and I tried it and it actually seemed to help me (so far!) See if this can help anyone else with the same issue.
I did have the problem once. It seems that "keep the previous preference" (or whatever it actually says) during updating from the older Illustrator version is the main culprit. But now it runs so well and without having any problems. Here's what I did:
1) Uninstall Illustrator v.23.
2) Install the earlier version.
I did try reinstalled the v.23 again, and the problem still occurred. So I installed the earlier version instead (I installed the first CC version, v.17). And then...
3) Reinstall Illustrator v.23. In advanced menu, uncheck that says keeping the previous preference, and don't remove the older version.
4) See whether your Illustrator v.23 works normally.
Hope it helps. -

I downloaded it when it first came out and it took over 5 minutes to open a file that CC 15 took 15 seconds to open. I tried to do one thing in it and it just lagged so I uninstalled it. Tried again 2 days ago to reload and same issues. If this is how Adobe treats its users as we continuously throw money at them for "better" products, then I'm out to find an alternative. I still use CC15 because every version except 15 has had serious issues for me and my frustration level just can't take it. Adobe doesn't care about us anymore so long as it's getting our money.

@SMH Simon, in the cc app where you see the list of all installed adobe applications, where you usually see the install/update button, there is a drop down ->manage_>install other versions. you can pick the 2018 from there and live a happier life.
it seems nobody here is taking us seriously. -

I am having the same problem on 2014 15inch Macbook Pro 16Gb 1Tb SSD Ram 2.5Ghz i7 MacOS 10.14.4 - Illustrator 2019 (23.0.3) is unusable like wading through treacle, just dread having to do anything in Illustrator 18 April 2019. Also try to click on something then Illustrator just drags selection box won't let go or then move items without wanting to, just awful, please try and fix Illustrator speed/usability (Indesign still seems fine) How do I go back to 2018 Illustrator on CC as other posts indicate that may be the solution until 2019 is sorted by you (Adobe), will try that if I can for now. Thank you, with very best wishes, Simon

This is a HUGE issue with my new Mac as well, supper laggy and delayed. I'm so frustrated that I cannot design as fast as I need to. Adobe please provide a proper fix, or post a proper trouble shooting guide with all of the feedback users have provided in this thread.
