M1 Apple McBook - Crashing
I just got a new MacBook Pro with the M1 Apple chip. Illustrator keeps freezing and crashing. It also causes my whole computer to crash! I heard many other people are having the same problem. It is unusable by this point!
This issue (entire M1 McBook system freezes) is fixed for AI 25.0.1 and 25.1
This fix takes effect in a day’s time, if you still face this entire system freeze then please follow the steps to update
1). Backup your preferences and launch Illustrator with fresh preferences
2). Quit and re-launch Illustrator once again
3). Use Illustrator in your workflow
If you see AI crash and entire system is not freezing then please create a new issue.

Photoshop, Illustrator and Creative Cloud is still not working, Adobe. I am guessing that you are aware of this issue since a few months back. Can I pause my account so you won't charge me for apps that isn't working.

Has there been any updates on this? I have just purchased the Macbook Pro M1 and I am having the same problem as others reported, beach ball on the splash screen. I desperately need to use this for my job, this problem is losing me money and completely unacceptable from Adobe!

Cualquier herramienta que utilizo bloquea el programa, es imposible trabajar así.

I still have problems. I did the steps you said but everything is the same. In both Illustrator and Photoshop. Also, the Creative Cloud app opens but doesn't respond to commands. Help!

None of the suggestions found here work for me. Illustrator hangs at the opening screen on my new M1 MackBook Air (16G RAM) while loading plug-ins and also produces the dreaded spinning beachball. It never recovers.

I have the same issue. Got a new M1 MBP and now i am not able to open Illustrator or Photoshop. Just gets stuck on the launch window and never goes past that.
I have uninstalled the entire suite and reinstalled and still no luck. I have removed my preferences for both and reopened but still not able to open either.

Illustrator crashing every 20 minutes or so, freezing the entire system (M1 Mac mini, Big Sur). Sometimes the OS restarts on its own after 5 minutes, other times I have to restart it. It usually crashes when i'm moving objects around, select text or do some fast mouse clicking. Constantly saving but very frustrating as it has really delayed my workflow. Recovery mode works sometimes but it leaves all image links unlinked, and I have to spend ages relinking each time (I have always wondered why Illustrator doesn;t automatically link all images that are in the same folder, like InDesign does..).

It's been unusable so far. Illustrator doesn't even launch on my new m1 MacBook pro 13''.
I've already reinstalled everything and it keeps crashing. Any fix on this? -

I just purchased the MacBookPro M-1 and have crashing issues with Photoshop and Illustrator. The apps do not launch. InDesign appears to be working. Just reinstalled the Creative Cloud suite once again. What do I do? I'm stuck on all my deadlines!
I just called Apple to see if there was a way to install Rosetta 2 on the Mac which is supposed to allow these apps to work. Rosetta 2 is supposed to fix this issue, but it does not launch when I open these apps that are not working.

Was told my brand new MacBook Air's M1 was incompatible with Adobe and I wouldn't be able to use Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign. I sought help when it froze during launch and would never even open the program and after 4 hours with support I'm still not able to do my work on my computer. This is insanely inconvenient and I'm very frustrated that I spend 4 hours with 4 different support members who didn't help me.

Hi,
Thanks for reaching out.
We have found that there are two possible solutions for this which are mentioned below -
1. Reinstalling the CCD (it gives the right set of permissions)
2. Creating the new admin user account.Let me know if any of these works for you.
Thanks,

I have a brand new MacBook Pro with an M1 chip. Illustrator updated to 25.2 when I set up the machine last night - but it won't open. It tries and gets hung up on the start screen.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, then did same again and used 25.1 but no luck.
What are my options? I have a mountain of work requiring the CC suite.

All,
I bought my M1 chip MacBook Pro the last week of November, 2020 and was devastated that it and Adobe Illustrator 2021 did not work together at all. I was getting a pink crash screen that froze my entire computer making it so that I had to do a hard restart--meaning, I didn't even have a crash data report generated to send to Apple or Adobe.
After submitting my "PLEASE FIX; I NEED TO MAKE VECTOR LOGOS FOR CLIENTS FOR MY BUSINESS!" pleas into the Adobe ether, one of the subsequent follow-up messages gave me this workaround, and the program has worked for me for the past month and I am grateful to be back in business:
"
Dear Illustrator User,To investigate the issue reported in the above UserVoice issue, we have made a configuration change to switch from Open GL GPU rendering engine to Metal rendering engine for your Adobe IDs. Please try the below steps and let me know if your issue with Illustrator on M1 Apple MacBook is resolved.
1). Backup your preferences and launch Illustrator with fresh preferences
2). Quit and re-launch Illustrator once again
3). Use Illustrator in your workflow and report did [sic] any change your [sic] observed.
NOTE: Above change is applicable for Illustrator 25.0.1 only.

Yo tengo el mismo problema, la Mac se traba por completo e Illustrator es el programa que más uso para diseñar. ¡Es un infierno! 😡
