Selection of multiple text objects - changing font not working
We can no longer change the font of multiple text objects at once.
When multiple text objects are selected, Ai thinks this is a 'mixed selection' and does not come up with the typeface selector. Slowing down my work incredibly.6 votesPlease accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. When we use Variable Concepr Fonts if I write text that contain letters with accents, the style of the typography changes. It's quite annoying.

Retype does not work at all in Czech version of Illustrator CC 2024 (28.0)
The Retype function does not work at all on Windows 10. All attempts end with the message Selection not recognized. It doesn't matter if it's a vector, a bitmap. It doesn't recognize anything. Not even Hello in Helvetica.
On MacOS 13.4.1 the app displays possible similar fonts but you can’t select them, download them, nothing. Dead end.Nice work, Adobe!

Illustrator not outlining type correctly
I've only started to encounter this recently and it doesn't happen with all fonts. When I outline certain typefaces - such as your Source Sans - it outlines parts of some letters individually, such as the bar in the letter 'A' in the attached example, or does some bizarre detour as seen in both the comma and the apostrophe (the two most typical examples I could think of).
All I am doing is outlining type with no stroke.
I'm running Illustrator 24.3 and Catalina 10.15.6

Character/paragraph style incompleteness
Creation of Character/paragraph style is not undoable.
You can undo any operation before and after but creation of Character/paragraph style does not get into "undo" list. You have to delete it manually from styles list.Select text\paragraph, make Character/paragraph style. Selected text/paragraph is not set instantly to this newly created style but it should.

Character/Paragraph panels - lazy and/or incorrect updating
Illustrator 23.0.3 on Win10
It is vitally important to me that the Character and Paragraph panels tell me the truth at all times: an accurate description of the properties in play based on the selected text or the cursor position if nothing is selected.
I constantly run into the problem where I select a line of text and the 'space before' and 'space after' controls in the Paragraph panel are completely wrong. Clicking the up/down arrows on the controls will change the displayed (wrong) value, and the text will suddenly leap to god-knows-where, rather than the desired "up or down…

Type Box fills with x's
When I choose the Type Box tool, and click in the document to create a Type Box or simply place text, as soon as the box is created, it fills with X's/squares and goes off on it's own continually typing the X/square.
At that point I am not touching the keyboard, there is no key being held down, yet it seems to be "stuck" in creating the X/square.
Initially it only happened with Myriad Pro, so I uninstalled that font. Then it continued to do it with Arial. Now it does it, no matter what. I've un-installed Illustrator and re-installed…

Text missing in SVG files
This is the first time trying to use Illustrator since it updated to the newest version (23.0.1) and updating my Mac to High Sierra (10.14). I have previously used Illustrator to edit SVG files, specifically the text in those files. When I open similar SVG files in the new Illustrator, all of my text is missing. My computer is due for a small update which will go through later tonight but this seems like a bug within Illustrator. When I open the SVG in Photoshop 2019 and re-export it as a SVG, I am able to see the text in…

Text block cursor not indicating the actual cursor location.
Text block cursor not indicating the actual cursor location.
This has happened a few times to me, but is not consistent. When editing text in a type block I use the pointer to hi light the area where changes are required but the changes occur at a different point in the text.
I have attached an image to clarify this - the black editing block is hi lighting the additional space I intend to delete but the actual character deleted is a few characters away (in this case the letter 'f' which shows with a blue edit line in this…5 votes -
Threaded text area box disappears after saving
MacOS Ventura 13.7
Illustrator 28.6 and newerWhen I convert a document to curves, save a copy, and then press Undo so I can have the text boxes editable again. As soon as I press Save after doing this, the second text frame in a thumbnail in Finder vanishes, while still existing in the document.
4 votesAccording to the team, this is expected to be fixed in the upcoming November Beta and Prerelease builds. Once it’s verified to be fixed, it will get pushed into the next main build.

Opacity for list objects (bulleted or numbered) lost after closing a file
When you reduce the opacity of a text object that contains a list - either just a list or a list plus "normal" text, that opacity gets deleted once you have saved the file. It's not even saved into the PDF part of the file.
If you apply the opacity at the Character level or if you create an additional fill for the text object and then apply reduced opacity, it works.Version 28.3
MacOS Monterey 12.7.1Please see also: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/bulleted-and-numbered-text-opacity-bug/m-p/14512837#M402363

Variable Fonts with a Width axis don’t work in Illustrator unless the "space" glyph changes width
Operating system:
macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81)The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop):
Adobe Illustrator 2024 (28.2)The steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
I created a variable font with a width axis. The font works well in environments like web browsers, but the variable axis slider has no effect in Illustrator. This also affects variable fonts with a Width axis and other axes – none of the shaping changes of any axes are rendered in Illustrator. After some debugging and experimentation, I finally learned that the "space" glyph must change in its character width, and only then…
