  1. Paste and match style within illustrator

    When copying from one text box with style A, then pasting into a text box with style B -- provide the ability to paste as style B in a single keystroke or step. Currently the default is to keep style A when pasting which requires an additional step to convert the style B.

  2. 'Saved' menu in New Document window should show my custom templates

    1. Right now only templates from Adobe Stock show up here. It's counterintuitive. I would like to have my custom templates saved here. Otherwise they are relatively hidden at the bottom of the 'Web' or 'Print' lists.
    2. I would also like to be able to quickly save a template right from the new document window (not have to make a document, save as template, get permissions error, fix permissions, save template).
    3. The new document window is VERY SLOW to open. Legacy is instant and the lag is really frustrating.
    4. Please for the love of creative gods, fix the High Sierra/CC bugs.…

  4. An option to hide the HEX field in Color or make it pop in RGB/HSB only

    Starting version 27.6.1, we are given a permanent HEX field in Color panel, following these two request:

    But some users do not like seeing it all the time and would like to be able to disable it, or at least pop only for RGB and HSB only.

    Please add this option into Color panel’s flyout menu.

    The latest Illustrator release - v29.3 now offers Area Calculation using Measure Tool:

    • Select the objects in your artwork you want to calculate the area for.
    • Select the Measure Tool from the Toolbar.
    • The calculated area will be displayed in the Info panel, shown automatically.
    • Shift + Click on a segment in the existing selection to remove/add it to area calculation.
    • Configure measurement options by accessing the flyout menu of the panel. You can customize units, precision, and scale to suit your requirements.

    Please update to v29.3 from your Creative Cloud Desktop application and keep sharing your feedback!

  6. How come the measure tool does not snap to points?

    Without snapping, measuring between points is not very accurate.
    It would be nice to be able to measure actual lengths of curves or sections of paths. It would make it easier to create diagrams with dimensions.

  8. Share for Review for Illustrator

    Enable share for review with Illustrator. I can already see how this will help when working with clients for magazines in InDesign - so I can’t wait to see how I can use if with clients for Illustrator based projects.

    ESPECIALLY as a professor - this will make it much easier to provide feedback for students during remote teaching and learning this fall with COVID.

  9. Apply any Cap and Corner style to each stroke’s corner and end points

    Allow user to be able to select an end anchor point on a stroke and apply any cap they choose. So one path could have a butt cap on one end and round cap on the other end. This would make building certain styles with strokes far easier and avoid problems that the current workflow creates when expanded at times.

  10. Inline Graphics / Anchor Object to text ability (like InDesign)

    Please allow in-line graphics in text paragraphs, so graphics will move along with the rest of the copy within text. I am working on a lot of signage/wayfinding and the rooms keep getting moved about. Arro symbols and toilet icons have to be positioned manually and it is VERY time consuming. I wish the original artwork had been created in InDesign! Thanks

    Please share some real cases for this feature you had in your practice, which could have benefit greatly from having inline graphics. It will help the team to plan it and make it more useful for Ai users, than analogues we have in InDesign and Figma.

    It would be nice if you could have the data merge function like in Indesign so you can import .csv-files.

  12. Hide contents outside of a clipping mask for the Selection tool

    Contents outside of a mask boundaries are still visible when using the Selection tool, so it's often tricky to select other objects behind. It would be great to have an option to just see objects within the boundary of the mask only with the Selection tool active.

  13. Artboards do not snap to whole pixels

    When the snap to pixel option is turned on and I use the Artboard Tool dragging the corner of the artboard results in random decimals.
    Say if my artboard is 512x512 and I drag a corner out it will now be dragging at every pixel but with a random decimal rather than a integer. this decimal will be the same at every snapped pixel until I let go. at this point if I move it again a new random decimal will be added.

    These two screenshots show issue values. take not it is random and the X and Y values…

  14. Dim Control In Isolation Mode

    It's extremely difficult to manually work with colors with respect to the complete artwork in isolation mode with the background dimming effect. This should be able to be disabled, while still maintaining group isolation workflow benefits.

  15. When exporting an image, using artboard, with a single artboard, don't change filename.

    If save an image using "Export As" , and I select the "use artboards" (because I want the image to be of that size, and I only want to export one specific artboard of my file, It would be better if it didn't add to the file name (ie: the filename-01.png would be filename.png). This is because I find myself exporting each layer of the same artboard with a specific name (ex: characterarm.png, characterleg.png, etc) and I have to remove the "01"s manually.

  17. Allow to add dithering to gradients to reduce banding / improve quality

    We have banding when printing gradients from exported TIFF-files.

    I have to open them in Photoshop, search a way to select areas with gradients and apply noise in channels needed.

    I can apply Grain effect to gradients where I need, but this makes everything run very slow.

    What if you add dithering as an option to gradient swatch? or to fill?
    So it could be displayed in screen space, applied to current level of zoom, and would export as raster images as well? without slowing down?

    Dithered gradients are now available in the latest 30.0 general build.

    Toggle the option in the Gradient or Control panels.

    Read more about it in this help article.

    As stated there, important notes are:

    • Dithered gradients follow the resolution set in Document Raster Effect Settings. In fact, this dithering is a raster-based effect, same as Gaussian Blur. It should stay live as long as you keep Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities option enabled (be mindful of this when you save your work in a PDF).
    • Dither at the moment works only with gradient fills, not strokes
    • Gradients added to CC Libraries don’t support Dither — PDF format know nothing about dithered gradients as a concept, it’s something only Ai does

    Note also, that some clipboard managers or extension would interfere in copy/pasting these, similar to how it happens with perceptual gradients, as reported here.

  18. Allow customizing Right Click Menu: Cut, Copy, Paste, Lock, Unlock, etc

    Can you please add simple tasks like "Lock / Unlock" and "Cut, Copy, Paste" to the the right-click menu? This would help speed up workflow and make illustrator more integrated with other Adobe products. I can right-click my mouse and quickly copy and paste in Indesign and even in Microsoft Word, but not in Illustrator? It's odd. Please consider fixing this. Thank you.

  19. Provide an option for making artboard names / numbers visible on the artboard (like when editing artboards)

    Provide an option in Adobe Illustrator to show artboard names and/or numbers on the artboard / on top of the artboard (like when editing artboards). This visible naming would greatly help to keep artboards organized in large, multiple artboard files. This would be so helpful!

  20. Dynamic Text (as in Photoshop) or Capitalize (optional) & Fit (as in Adobe Spark / Express)

    In Adobe Spark, when creating a Post, there's a nice feature which allows you to create a dynamic text box which capitalizes, scales, and fits the words to a text box, as you click and drag the handles of the text box. In Adobe Spark the feature is called "Capitalize & Fit". It would be nice to have something similar in Illustrator.
