Add 'Flatten image' option to TIFF Export options
Every TIFF I export form AI has one layer inside, even when image is completely opaque. This bloats TIFF twice in size, and there is no option to NOT write alpha. I have to batch all my TIFFs to correct it.
Please, just add 'Flatten image' option to Export (you can set it unchecked by default to keep compatibility) that will convert layer to plain white background.31 votes -
Replace or Delete Swatches should automatically re-color objects with new swatch
I propose swatches have the function of applying new color to objects on the art board whenever a color needs to be replaced with a different color. Instead of simply deleting the current swatch, we should be prompted to "replace current color with new color?" then select the new color after adding it to the palette, then BAM! all the objects are automatically updated with the new color. (Example: art editor says that we will print only using 2 colors: black text with red headlines. I already have the art set using black and green. I could add the red…

Dedicated buttons for Undo, Delete, Redo
Dedicated buttons for Undo, Delete, Redo.
Either at the top or on a floating toolbar. I'm sick of having to go to the keyboard or:
Edit > Undo
Edit > Clear
Edit > Redo
Sure I could use keyboard shortcuts — but I don't want to.
Virtually every other program has these buttons.
It cannot be hard to add them, even if only in that new properties panel.
You have to assume its bloody mindedness on Adobes part, continuing not have this basic feature and thinking everyone gets a thrill out of Command Z31 votes -

Nix the Stupid Blue Share Button
Get rid of the stupid giant blue "Share" button in the toolbar. It's very distracting because it looks like I constantly have a notification. And I will never use it. We've been all through this with Acrobat already!
30 votesAs per the comment, go to 'Preferences > User Interface > Share Button' and select 'Match Brightness' — it will no longer appear blue.
To achieve the same in Photoshop, try toggling 'Neutral Color Mode' in 'Preferences > Interface'.
If you still wish to just have it gone for good — please upvote this separate request.

Paste / repeat symbols / objects into a text along a path
In Indesign you can copy a path and paste it into a text field, including along a path. This is great because if you paste it repeatedly you can then adjust it like you would with type eg changing height and width, spacing etc.
I would like to be able to do the same in illustrator.
30 votesIllustrator Beta now offers a dedicated Objects on Path construct to allow some basic distribution operations for selected objects and a chosen path. So far it allows uniform distribution only, global rotation and global pivot control, widget to control these on canvas, attaching and detaching (including isolation operations).
This is not an extension of Type on Path, but a separate type of object. The text can be used with it, but will be treated as a separate object, not per-character.
I assume some would be happy to have it and get it improved later. Pasting an object into a text, however, is still a needed thing, and is a different request — Inline Graphics / Anchor Object to text ability (like InDesign) — please upvote it if you find it useful.
As for this new object type — kindly try in Illustrator Beta and provide your feedback, so the team…

Allow to change color & width of border / edges for artboards (all and active)
Sometimes when I am using black colour I cant see properly my artboard size so I have work with the guides instead of using the change artboard colour option so it gets annoying. If there were an artboard frame colour option it would be easier to compare my design w.r.t. the artboard

Welcome Back To Illustrator screen customization
Two changes to the Welcome Screen:
1.- Ability to edit the "Start a New File Fast" group (like, in the US, I'd like to replace the A4 format with the more used US Letter Size?)
2.- Add a "Clear All Recent" button/option to clear all recently opened files (or follow the similar Photoshop model to clear files).
Thanks

Paste on selected Artboards
The user should be able to paste on selected artboards. Currently we have to paste on all of them or one of them. With the advent of many more artboards, the user has to spend a lot of time pasting on each artboard.

Polygonal Lasso/Rubber Band effect for standard lasso
Polygonal Lasso/Rubber Band effect for standard lasso. Should work just like PS lasso. You don't get a break now. Once you start a lasso selection it's on until you've completed your selection.

Lamé / Squircle rounded corners
It would be great to add a way to create Lamé curved corners with rounded corners. (See the section "Optical corner rounding" in https://medium.muz.li/optical-effects-9fca82b4cd9a for an example of this.) Right now, one can make geometric round corners in Adobe Illustrator (and InDesign), but it would add greater flexibility to designs to use Lamé curves to create these more nuanced curves.

Show missing link path/locations like InDesign. (To make relinking an image simple)
In the Link Panel - Indesign shows the file path for placed images and links (even when missing or embedded). In Illustrator's Link panel these path/locations are greyed out with no text, thus making finding a missing file purely guess work. Can the Indesign Links Panel be directly replicated to Illustrator so absolutely the same? Cheers

Additional arrow-key nudge values by using key combinations...
I would like the ability to specify multiple nudge values for the arrow keys to be used when certain key combinations are used - so that different nudge distances could be achieved with different arrow key combinations, such as:
Shift+Arrow
Ctrl+Arrow
Alt+Arrow
Ctrl+Shift+Arrow
Ctrl+Alt+Arrow
Shift+Ctrl+Alt+Arrow29 votes -
Checkbox for prefix with filename when exporting for screens
When exporting for screens, it would be useful to be able to simply click a checkbox to prefix the output filename with the current filename.
For example, for "myFile.ai", containing artboards "Artboard1", "Artboard2", etc., it would output "myFile-Artboard1.png", "myFile-Artboard2.png", etc.
I realise the filename can be entered in the Prefix field but a checkbox would be a useful addition.

Add trackpad support for Windows / Surface devices (zoom, scroll, etc.)
Windows Surface Book trackpads have little to no gesture support. It's incredibly annoying. Please add pinch to zoom, two finger scrolling, etc.. The same functionality you would expect on a macbook would be great.

Lock palettes or allow to undo UI changes
So many times I accidentally dragged palettes' icons instead of clicking them to open/close! Each time then I had to drag it back to place it was before or reset my workspace! A simple command 'Undo last UI change' or tick 'Lock UI' would save a lot of time for such clumsy people as I.

Make setting reference point hotkeyable
Problem Description:
I change the reference point all the time.
I'm so tired of grabbing a mouse and searching for a reference grid and precisely clicking in a tiny-tiny square.
Please add a possibility to set a hotkey for each position!Look, there is a whole numbers block at the right side of a keyboard (if you are not using these fancy ***** castrated versions which don't have it). I could have used it to set the reference point, using something like Ctrl+Shift+3 to set it to the right bottom.
I can use an action for doing this, bit I'm…29 votes
