  1. Inertia scrolling aka "flick panning"

    Scrolling around artboards should adhere to the OS standards of having some momentum to scrolling, or at least the option to enable "flick panning" like Ps

  2. Blend Tool Default Settings

    I use the blend tool primarily to create specified steps between objects. The tool always defaults to smooth color spacing. It would be great to be able to set a default spacing mode. In fact, it would be even better if the properties panel showed blend tool options.

  3. Save a Copy from Adobe Cloud Document.

    I've noticed that when you use the new Save to Cloud Documents feature (which is very nice and convenient) the option to Save a Copy is disabled.

    I'm working on a manual to be viewed as a PDF on mobile devices, so I have to constantly save a PDF copy of my .aic document in order to send it to myself via WhatsApp (which is the target) and review it.

    Not having the Save a Copy option is quite inconvenient. Could you guys enable it?

  4. Add DXF/DWG Export To Increased Canvas Size In Illustrator 24.2 (and later)

    Would it be possible to add DXF/DWG as an export option for the new expanded max canvas size (Illustrator, 24.2 and forward). The increased canvas size is wonderful, however as someone who will move to-scale sketches from Illustrator into a 3D modeling program, not having DXF/DWG exports at the new max size makes the use of the new canvas size somewhat limited.

  6. Add "Crop Image Data to Frames" option to PDF Export (after first adding PDF Export).

    InDesign can crop image data to frames, which can significantly shrink PDF files. Why is this long existing InDesign feature missing from Illustrator? Please add it. There is no excuse.

  7. Ability to link "Data set name" upon CSV import for Variables panel

    Currently when you "load variable Library" from a CSV illustrator defaults each Data Set with "Data Set 1, Data Set 2, Data Set 3, Data Set 4... ect."

    Currently the only way I know to rename that data set is to manually rename each data set by selecting that data set from the drop down menu, and selecting "rename data set" from the options panel, and then either typing or copy and pasting some text in.

    I use data sets for more batch like designing, it would be really nice if we could bind the data set name to…

  8. Hint all Preferences options, even without (i) icon

    Some options in Preferences are mystery for new users, but the team believe only some (just 3!) should have a dedicated (i) icon to display a hover hint.

    ALL options should have a hover hint.

    How on Earth a user can guess what 'Show/Hide Rulers' does? It feels like it is the same as View > Rulers > Show / Hide Rulers, but no, it’s not! You have to search for it! (just rename this one already)

    Or what about enigmatic 'Enable Content Aware Defaults'? What are these? OK, pros know, Puppet Warp, Lorem Ipsum, Freeform Gradient…

  9. Square wave / zig-zag live effect

    Gears. Crenelations on castles. Zippers. These are a few things whose border can be described by a square wave. Or by a rectangular wave.

    But you can't do this easily in Illustrator. Oh, you can add a dotted line to a shape - but that's an awkward workaround. How about a new live effect?

    effect->distort & transform->crenelation would bring up a new live effect where you can apply square waves to whatever object you're affecting.

    Suggested parameters:

    • size - similar to the size parameter in roughen/zigzag, this would control how far the generated path deviates from the original path

  10. Option to sort font list randomly instead of alphabetically

    I find myself using fonts that start with the letter A very frequently... The ability to sort the font list randomly would introduce some variety into my designs I think. Sometimes I'm looking for a font by name, but often I find myself scrolling through the list to see what catches my eye. I think sorting the list randomly would help with this.

  11. Disable CC Libraries in Illustrator

    I would like the option to Disable the use of Libraries in Illustrator.

    I can close the panel but every time I create a new colour swatch the panel reappears. This isn't helpful for the way I work so I'm looking for a way to turn off this feature.

    As I am self employed and don't collaborate with others, all my colours are saved within the document they are relevant to which is why I would like to turn off this feature.

  12. Start editing text hotkey

    Whenever I want to edit a text, I have to pick a Text tool an click it, or double-click it with a Selection tool. Why would I need to click a text which is already selected?

    Please, make Ctrl+Enter start editing selected text, as PS does now. If several text objects are selected, use topmost, or closest to the screen's center or cursor or give people an option to choose.

  14. the touch gestures controls need and option to mirror the touch gestures for photoshop

    Touch gestures in illustrator just feel terrible compared to the touch gestures in photoshop. I paint a lot in photoshop and it's never been an issue to pan zoom rotate ect, but every time I switch over to illustrator it just feels buggy. Half the time i try to pan it will either right click, or move an object i didn't want to select, and it only lets you do one action per touch when i can pan and zoom simultaneously in photoshop. plus the 2 finger double tap to reset canvas view seems to be missing from illustator as…

  15. Learn to Rearrange artboards with coinciding or nested coordinates

    Illustrator will not rearrange artboards that are completely overlapping (that is, have the same dimensions and coordinates) and will ignore nested artboards, moving them along with their enclosing artboard.
    It should be able to detect complete copies and give an option to rearrange smaller nested ones.

  16. An object with a freeform gradient fill makes the coloring control in the tool panel switched to None

    In the tool panel we have three indicator buttons, which show the current type of fill/stroke for the selection — Fill, Gradient, None.
    Illustrator switches it to None, when an object with a freeform gradient fill is selected.

    I can understand why it probably happens. Since freeform gradients are not technically gradients, and using this mode converts an object into a dynamic container for generating a triangular mesh, it makes sense for Illustrator to not display the proper indicator here — the container has no fill... but it makes no sense for a user.   17. Colors: change line and area at one time

    How about a shortcut for changing both line and area color at a time? Say I have a red square with a red contour and I want to change both to green I will have to change one thing first and then the other. Maybe a shortcut like alt or shift would help?

  18. Envelope Mesh needs corner points option

    Envelope Mesh needs to have points that can be converted to corner points. It only has Bézier curve points which make it impossible to get perfect straight angles. Like the pen tool has. I have struggled with this for years.

  19. Keyboard shortcut for Properties panel

    There is a keyboard shortcut to go to any other windows option except this.. I don't know if it is because it is a new feature, but this should really be implemented... Can there be a mappable keyboard shortcut for the new properties panel on illustrator

  20. Add ability to hyperlink text (properly this time)

    In June of 2023 the Illustrator team fixed a old bug with hyperlinks added through Attributes panel being dropped while exporting as PDF.
    The team thought of it as a solution to this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/40418827 — and marked it as such.

    I do not agree.
    The solution is nowhere final, done in the most basic way possible, merely a bug fixed, like if no-one in the team did try to make it useful at the level of today's standards.
    — A partial text selection can't be made into a hyperlink.
    — No widgets are given on the canvas to see…
