1. Symbol Sprayer Tool Enhancement

   The Symbol Spray Tool is very awkward in using and not very intuitive to first time users. Who would have thought to double tap to open the options for the tool. There is very little documentation on this. I do not believe the tool is used by many artist. May be add the options to the menu bar? Also unable to ungroup or align the symbols once they are on the artboard. Would be awesome to be able to create a path and apply the symbols on the path. This would be great to create an outline then spray the symbols onto the outline. Thanks

2. Illustrator should be able to import any unicode character

   I was trying to use Runic text in an image but illustrator wouldn't enter anything but boxes with X's in them. I contacted support and they told me it was because no language supports the runic symbols.

   This strikes me as absurd, as even applications such as notepad or openoffice can handle it, I could even send the runic text through the chat client I used to communicate with the support (as well as in google translate).

   This should really be fixed.

3. Make Illustrator inform users about the live shape nature of the path used for area type and provide associated controls for it

   Currently, when we use a live rectangle as a path for an area type, it secretly stays live shape inside, and it allows us to scale the object with the round corners honored. If we round corners for a rectangle-looking path (not live shape), corners will get stretched.

   However, there is no way to distinguish these two cases with UI, or to convert a rectangular path used for the area type into live rectangle shape, or to have shape-sepcific controls.

4. More options to adjust UI scaling

   Yesterday I downloaded Illustrator (26.0.2) for the first time. But the small User Interface stops me from using the product. The text is so tiny, especially in Properties and Layers panels. For me the possibility of a larger text is important. If there is no option for enlarging, I stop using the product. But I really want to use Illustrator and to create beautiful things.

   I tried to fix the issue with Edit > Preferences > User Interface < Adjust the UI Scaling slider. But the changes are insignificant on the highest possible value. I think the UI Scaling slider is a little bit shorter than the slider from previous versions.

   It will be great if the product becomes more accessible in the future!

5. Export or save as SVG

   Please improve dramatically the save as or export option to SVG file!
   As many people have already requested, please simplify the code.
   But my request deals with SVG export with indic languages: IT JUST SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, even if all corresponding options (Parameters / Text / Indic and Asian line by line composer) have been selected in Illustrator!!!
   I attach two screen shots: the first one is Illustrator screen, the second the SVG result. You will see that the devanagari text is completely different.
   For your information, I have already mentionned that problem on or two years ago: it is a pity that Adobe does not care about …
   The only solution is to create these pages with Dreamweaver.

6. Find and replace graphics

   One of the greatest features of Freehand, and something I miss greatly in Illustrator, is the "Graphic Find And Replace" tool. I use the text find and replace a lot and bringing the same tool set to the graphics side would help with production greatly.

   Some of this functionality can be found with "select same as ..." but is more limited and requires extra steps. Or working with symbols but that's less flexible.

7. Don't force baseline shift settings to be sticky

   For me, I only rarely need to adjust baseline shift settings (usually when I want to adjust the verticality of a trademark symbol relative to body copy.

   Unfortunately, Illustrator retains the baseline shift value, so subsequent text has it applied by default, forcing me to reset it. I'd absolutely love it if that setting defaulted back to zero, given the infrequency with which I actually need to use it (for me, it's the exception, not the rule). Generally after my occasional need for a baseline-adjusted character, I'm forced to type in new text, manually reset the baseline shift value to zero, and then delete said text, to ensure subsequent text is set correctly.

8. Allow to control font for Swatch Info objects

   Well... if one wants to choose font size for text in Swatch Info objects while making one — tough luck. We can only set the color chip size.

   Since Preview is completely missing now (here’s the request about it: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49681244), it’s hard to evaluate if text would be large enough to accompany them.
   Even if you change the font size after the Swatch Info is created — won’t do, each text line is a separate type objects, their leading won’t be adjusted, the card background rectangles won’t adapt!

   One can think this font is based on the [Normal Paragraph Style], and we can tweak it (beforehand!) to set the font size...
   But it’s only half-truth. While the font family and the font style indeed follow the style, the font size is always 10 points.

   So, team, if you look how people in different tutorial videos have to dance around this stupid limitation, to guess the card size to fit the font size relatively, and then scale the whole object... I hope you will fill shame at least.

   If you are afraid to overload new users with controls in the dialog — at least make an option to scale font size to fit color chip size... or make it a relative value even.

   Well... if one wants to choose font size for text in Swatch Info objects while making one — tough luck. We can only set the color chip size.

9. Change layer thumbnail background so white objects are visible in the Layers panel

   Currently, I'm working with white text for a logo design and because the layer thumbnail background is white and the text is also white, it is impossible to see what objects are in my Layers. Illustrator for ipad already has this feature, so why isn't it in desktop?

10. UI Font scaling like Photoshop has now

    Can we get illustrator to have the same type of UI scaling capabilities that Photoshop 2019 has now? I saw that illustrator added the ability to have small, medium and large interface but can we also have text scaling separately as well like small, medium, large so we can change that independently? Right now I have illustrator open and the icon size is ok but the text is too small now. So if you wanted to have the interface as small but the text as medium, that's what I'm talking about.

11. Give as a choice when pasting something that uses an existing definition in the current document

    When pasting art with different definitions for an existing style name, users should be given a choice to apply the document style to the pasted text, redefine the document style based on the pasted text, or just ignore it (as it does now).

    It applies to text styles and graphic styles.
    Today, example given, if I paste an artwork that uses 'My Style' from document A into document B that already has 'My Style' defined, Ai would just make it into 'My Style 2', silently.

12. Arrange all artboards reference point

    I don't understand which is the starting point of the arrange all artboards, I thought it was the 0 (zero) of the global rulers, but after the arrange all commands the top left artboard is not align with the rulers.

13. Pattern brush can be created while viewing preview as in pattern edit mode.

    Creating tiles and checking whether the seams are aligned is hard work.
    I think that it is convenient to have a function that can create a pattern brush while watching the preview as in the pattern edit mode.

14. A way to nest objects on artboards

    Idea: Take multiple objects, such as multiple copies of a logo or elements and nest them within an artboard, and say how much space you want between objects.

    Reason: When it comes to signs or sending a print job to a plotter, sign makers want to maximize the number of objects on a vinyl. Sure we can manually move objects or even use the distribute tool, but this takes too long and sometimes when selecting multiple objects you can not use the distribution tool to distribute both vertical and horizontal at the same time or objects in he middle.

    Solution. There are companies out there with plugins, however they are expensive and only work on Windows computers. it would be easier for Illustrator to just have the feature built-in. to use on all platforms.

15. Show 'Can’t join a path' message as a soft one

    Modal dialogs are very dated. They grab attention, they interrupt workflows, they yell at you. Most times we don’t need these as loud as they are — a whisper is nice.
    And Ai actually now has these, 'soft' messages, like the one we get when we modify a live shape — 'Shape expanded', at the top of the view, in a gray rectangle. Calm, non-intrusive, with auto-destruction timer. Nice!

    But there are other, legacy warnings and screams.
    The most annoying for me persoanlly is the one I get when I try to join a closed path (just in case, to be sure it is closed), but Ai yells at me — 'you caaaaan't' — with a ding and a message and a text... just show the 'Path is already closed' soft message.

    Perhaps don’t mix all the cases together and display it as a huge page like you do. A user has a compound path within the selection? Tell it, and only if the user really has it. Same for other art types users can’t join.
    I see an educational benefit in having it like this now... but look, if I enable 'don’t show this again' checkmark in this alert box, I won’t be able to see if I should join more or is it just enough.

16. Search field in Graphic Styles palette

    I draw comics, and use Graphic Styles a lot. They let me give names to anything from flat fills to complex appearance stacks with multiple fills, strokes, and effects.

    But once I've loaded in the styles for a full page, with multiple characters, background parts, and whatnot, the Graphic Styles palette starts to get pretty unwieldy. The attached screenshot is the entire height of my laptop screen; note how small the slider handle is!

    I've put effort into giving all of these sensible names. It'd be lovely to be able to use that by having a search bar at the top or bottom of the palette that I can type text into, and find all of the styles whose name is a partial match!

    There might also be a 'show search box' control in the Graphic Styles palette's menu; it could also be something that shows up when you use the little arrows on the left of a palette's name to expand it and show extra controls. Some people are really protective of vertical space in their palette setup; remember the grumbling about adding the Touch Type tool to the top of the Character palette?

17. Rotation and reflection when selecting an object

    When I have an object selected (left mouse is pressed down), I want to press the space bar to rotate it. This might rotate anticlockwise by 90° (so I would press the space bar three times to rotate the object clockwise by 90°). You could make the rotation angle 45° to be aligned with rotating and holding the shift key.

    Also, while the object is again selected, if I press the X key, the object is reflected horizontally; pressing the Y key reflects it vertically.

    These key strokes have been in use on another software program that I have used for years, save significant time, and would be extremely valuable on AI.

18. Allow to hold Shift to force Aligned (orthogonal) Dimensions

    Ai now tries to smartly detect a relative position of the cursor to a dimension being created and choose if it should be parallel or oblique.

    This sound like a smart solution, but in practice is SUCKS.

    Take a look at this small GIF.
    1. The dimension between two objects is live, and responds to the object being moved up and down fine
    2. But if I choose to move it to the right, it says 'hey, I am a dimension between two points, I’m switching to be slanted'
    3. OK, I delete it and try to create anew. STRUGGLING, because the space is tight, and if I move the mouse too much, it thinks I try to create a horizontal one. Finally I am able to catch the sweet (sour) spot, and caaaarefully move it back holding my breath.
    4. Now it’s an orthogonal (aligned) dimension and I can realign my object back or move without a risk of loosing the status.

    But we can’t covert 'manual' dimensions into 'aligned' one!
    We can’t hold Shift to FORCE it to be aligned!
    WTF?!

19. Set "Registration" (and/or other library color) to Dimension tool

    I would like the ability to set the size color in "Registration" on the lines and text. Unfortunately currently (version 28.1) it is possible to freely set the colors but it is not possible to set the Registration color or other colors present in the document samples. This would be very useful for me when printing color separations for different uses.

20. Add a quick way to toggle the alignment of a stoke (Center, Inside, Outside): with Opt/Alt-click and/or a hotkey

    There are many modes, states, values in Ai that require precise clicking in a tiny button or a field to toggle or change. We need faster ways to access these.

    A keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle how the current stroke is aligned would be nice to have... for those who prefer clicking, Opt/Alt could be added to avoid precise aiming, just to loop through the modes.
